<0> Intuitive perdon me
<0> Intuitive the error is because i dont login?
<1> anyone know of any open source harddrive image capture program, like Ghost ?
<2> easiest way to synch and AD domain?
<2> with too many DC's?
<2> :)
<3> do it at nightime? :)
<2> users on main DC not same as 2,3,4, etc..
<2> dcpromo on 2,3.... would probably cause hell
<3> how many dcs are on that domain?
<2> 6
<3> that's not many
<2> well 5.5
<3> all on the same LAN?
<3> 5,.5?
<2> win2k3 box isnt happy so it just thinks its a DC

<2> not production..
<3> ah
<2> other boxen at 2kserv
<2> err
<2> are 2kserv
<3> what was the problem again?
<3> oh
<2> dc1 and dc2 (so on) dont show same info
<3> then set them to replicate more often.
<2> dc1 "horizons" is thought of as main DC
<2> its like every 5m for DC's
<2> i dont think its rep'n
<3> which has the FSMO role of GC?
<2> horizons
<3> ok
<2> "dc1"
<2> but ppl are loggin in everywhere and p***word expiration, well just fucted my day up...
<3> oh no
<3> have you checked kerberos time synchronisation?
<3> I ***ume you have proper time servers running on the network
<2> all servers/workstation have "horizons" as time server
<3> ok
<2> within a few seconds of each other
<3> what does event viewer have to say about all of this?
<2> i set "horizons" 30 minutes ahead on day.. whole damn office left early
<2> this keyboard about to die.
<3> lol
<3> that's a neat idea
<3> Local DNS running?
<2> multiple places
<2> on dc1 too
<2> dc1 pushes local dns to 2 other dc's
<2> external DNS (220+ domains) is on linux boxes
<3> heh
<3> event viewer?
<2> no error... auditing is cranked on high
<3> jeez
<2> i dont know... its Tuesday is the problem i guess
<3> heh
<2> reboot *
<3> Since nobody can logon anyway, I'd reboot the GC
<2> maybe that will help :)
<3> =)
<2> oh... 50% can
<3> huh?
<3> what's up with the other half?
<2> the others can once I set their p***es on every other box
<2> ring ring... i cant login! "please hold... remote to other DC's and reset p***(s)" Ok, try now
<2> thank you... next?
<1> anyone know of any open source harddrive image capture program, like Ghost ?
<3> heh
<2> GPLhost... good name.. doesnt exisit
<2> i dont know about DC... maybe a good long lunch will resolve it
<3> ^.~
<3> have one for me
<4> Hey Intuitive.
<3> herro :)
<4> How are you?
<3> gUUd
<3> how are Youuuu?

<4> Lol. Im good.
<3> good to hear :)
<3> just about to go to bed
<4> lolol
<3> sleep is such an inefficient use of time
<4> Yeah its a waste.
<3> well, ni ni - have a good day (good, being a relative term)
<5> hi.
<5> what's a good windows program that gives detailed information about devices on your computer
<5> specifically video card/monitor info
<6> hi qnx
<6> i'm sorry but i don't know the answer
<6> and my helpers just left here
<5> ah
<6> #computerhelp
<3> "AIDA32"
<3> good program
<7> Hello
<7> anybody up?
<8> hi.
<8> ask your qs.
<9> I need some help with getting SYSPREP to work properly on an XP box.
<7> Ok, my question... I was trying to add a secondary hard drive to my buddies PC to copy his music from it since his CD burner won't work. He uses Windows ME, well, I added the hard drive to the primary IDE cable as the slave, set the Quantum Fireball harddrive he had already to master and my WDC hard drive to slave, during the boot process it shows that is found the fixed disk, but once windows ME loads up and I go to My Computer it won't show t
<7> I also tried it with both drives on cable select, even with the second hard drive on the secondary IDE channel as the master
<7> still the Windows won't show that it's there
<9> Does it show up in FDISK?
<7> I didn't run fdisk
<9> If it sees more than 1 physical drive you'll get a 5th option to change drives.
<9> Does it appear as a drive in your device manager?
<7> I don't want to change drivers on his computer, only add a secondary so I can remove it and put it on a computer that has a working cd burner
<7> no
<9> Does it appear as a physical attached unit in your device manager? :)
<7> only place i can see the computer even recognizes its there is during bootup
<7> nope, i couldnt find it there either
<7> of course the Windows ME documentation has nothing on the subject too
<9> Is keeping WinME alive neccesary?
<9> because I'd instantly say: Ditch WinME. Install anything else... ANYTHING!
<7> well, yes its his computer and we want to get his files onto something else before installing it so he doesnt lose all his stuff
<7> i've already told him WinME blows
<9> Cant network it?
<7> thats what we were gonna try today
<7> but i wanted to ask about that first
<9> Well - I'd do something un-windows'y and run a Knoppix-CD on the system to see if its driver-issues. A Linux LIVE-CD should see (and use) both drives if its just drivers.
<7> only thing i could think of is running fdisk and perhaps the drive wasnt formatted with the right file system
<9> You'
<9> You'd still see it as as physical unit in your hardware-list
<9> regardless of the filesysstem
<9> you didnt partition/format the drive in advance?
<7> i dont recall, it was a drive i had lying around, but i've never had a problem with that before
<7> i remember when looking at device manager, it said somehting generic about the ide controllers
<7> like when i went to primary it didnt even say Quantum fireball
<7> i think his stuff is just so buggy, and thats the problem with his cd burner too, it shows the cd burner, even the shows the once I replaced it with when the first one didnt work, just wont burn, says it doesnt detect a cd burner
<7> but it detects the reading part
<7> u can read, but not write
<7> gah
<7> now i remember why i got rid of ME
<9> Fat32 on it?
<9> ofc it is... silly me.
<7> oh ya
<9> Uhm.... Can the computer boot floppies?
<7> yep
<7> all my hard disks are fat32, i dont use any other operating system
<9> ... even on XP installations?
<9> nvm that - thats a topic for another time.
<9> Hop over to bootdisk.com - grab a Win98SE bootdisk, strip it for all its files but leave FDISK and what you need to run XCOPY.
<7> k, what does xcopy do?
<10> is there a windows mobile 2003 help channel?
<9> Its just COPY, only it also does recursive copying (subdirs)
<9> Boot the floppy, run FDISK and see if you can see all physical drives, and maybe also see what letters thats been ***igned to the partitions.
<7> Ah
<9> Then you can mirror the stuff from the ME drive (C: probably) to your slave (D or E or something else depending on partitions) with XCOPY...
<7> ok cool
<7> i was just thinking
<7> the HD i put in was probably conditioned for XP
