<5> Karlitos, maybe the caple =)
<5> did you change the caples lately?
<6> cables...
<4> cables ???
<4> @Chilis what's that ??
<5> yah
<5> the previous one :p
<5> i forgot it's name
<5> :S
<5> :S:S:S:S
<5> the cables that transfear data from CS/DVD room to CPU!
<7> hello
<7> ((( Chilis )))
<5> heya Scanny

<4> @Chilis no i didn't is it possible that i just need to check if the cable is well conected ?
<5> Karlitos, nope but there is no loss in try
<5> ;)
<5> sometimes the CD causing this problem ..
<5> and sometimes it's the Readers
<4> @Chilis i installed a new CD ROM , and since then i can't use both , even tho window says that they are fine, i think i was able to use only a cople of times
<6> Karlitos: try this: 1.reinstall motherboard drivers-reboot; 2. check the ATA cables and switch them from one channel to other(dont forget changing jumpers)
<6> if you havent opened your pc better call someone who knows what he's doing
<4> ok ok
<4> i'll try that
<4> thank you guys
<8> I've pb to connect win 98 et a router
<8> who can help me
<6> what problem?
<8> to connect a box under windows xp (not 98) and a router
<6> be more specific please
<6> are you trying to connect a winxp machine to internet using a router?
<8> this is what i want but i can't connect my box under xp and the router
<8> router : 192.168.1.1
<8> xp : 192.168.1.2 attributed by dhcp
<8> p*** by default 192.168.1.1
<6> any firewalls?
<6> what internet do you have? dsl?
<8> when i tape "arp" command under router i see MAC and IP addresses of my box under xp but i can't ping
<8> adsl without firewall
<6> wait a sec
<6> you cannot ping router?
<8> what is sec ?
<6> second, silly
<8> i can' ping router under xp and can't ping xp under router
<8> have you a solution
<8> so...
<6> usually there's no need to ping them, but can you connect to internet?
<8> no
<6> does your internet use a name/p***word?
<8> yes
<6> did you set it up in router webconfig?
<6> or are you using an external dsl modem?
<8> i tried under http and telnet
<8> adsl and router are the same box
<6> so can you access the web page to configure the router?
<6> http://192.168.1.1/
<8> i used this adress
<8> the connection works under win 98 but not under win xp pro
<6> so winxp cannot open that webpage?
<6> maybe there's an error code?
<8> no i can't ping router under xp => it cannot work
<8> how can i do
<6> not ping it
<6> open your browser
<6> type at adress
<6> http://192.168.1.1/
<8> i can't see under browser because i can't ping it
<8> how do you want it works ?
<6> have you try it?
<8> yes
<8> under 98 i can ping it
<8> i can telnet it
<8> i can http it
<6> forget about pinging
<8> no it's the third iso layer and http seven
<8> how can it work in seven layer and not in third layer ?
<6> it must have some ICMP protocol disabled in configuration
<6> does it have some setting similar to Discard incoming ICMP?
<6> pinging is not the best method to check a connection
<8> no ICMP = 1
<8> and why i cannot ping xp box under router
<6> if it works, why do you need that ping thing...maybe a firewall is discarding it(xp firewall for one)
<8> it doesn't work xp => router and router => xp
<8> how can i do to disable an eventually firewall under xp
<6> look, try enabling NetBIOS over TCP/IP in that connection properties
<6> and start windows xp firewall
<6> and enable it
