<13> well booting off the floppy wont fix the boot record on the hard drive...you could boot off the XP cd, go into the recovery console, and run fixmbr

<13> it really sounds to me like you just need to pop your windows xp cd in the drive, run the recovery console, and run fixmbr and/or fixboot
