<0> hrmm, i figured out what the problem(s) are... it looks like a. one of the two arrays isn't getting sent via POST, and b. there are thirteen checkboxes, two of them are selected, those have the value of ON in the array, but the unselected ones don't add anything to the array.
<0> i guess the big thing is to get 'OFF' or NULL into the array for those checkboxes that don't get selected
<1> why not just leave them blank
<0> because i'm trying to track which ones are selected by ID. i've got the array with the ID #'s in them... if the checkbox selected array doesn't have a corresponding number of array entries, then i'm not going to be able to match them up correctly
<1> sure you are
<0> http://pastebin.com/501162
<0> well, say i have 13 checkboxes corresponding to 13 ids

<0> and checkboxes 7,8, and 9 are checked
<0> i've got the ID array that's 13 elements long... then the checkbox array that's only 3 elements long, because only three checkboxes returned 'ON'.. the rest returned nothing, so the array wasnt populated for them
<0> i'm populating the array via the form, in name='myarray[]'
<0> so, no idea how i'd intervene and put 'OFF' or whatever in the undefined ones
<2> Hi foklls
<2> Hi folks
<1> you dont need to i know you dont understand the concept, so be it
<2> Cansome one take a look at http://www.phpriot.com/2511 - its my attempt at some validation, but I could do with any feedback
<0> well, can you tell me what the concept is
<1> you dont need the else it just add another or to the first if
<1> nor the last else as it will return false without it
<3> ls
<3> whoop
<2> Eldritch: k ta
<3> whoops*
<2> Eldritch: would it be better to let the user enter the price any way that they want, ie: $500 $500.99 500 500.99 and then reformat it to the way you want? or just reject input that does nto confirm?
<2> conform i mean
<4> both
<4> make them conform to some kind of standard and then format the data you want
<5> I'd just have them submit it how you want it, and if they submit it incorrectly error out.
<5> For yes no just use 1 vs 0
<5> for true vs false.
<4> if you let them do anything and you reject it, they get all pissy when their invalid entry didn't get saved
<5> Thats why you help them along with some simple JS and good form layout.
<5> Dont have them type Yes or Y, use a radio button.
<2> _TaSm: yeah that was an option, but I need to work out how to make the sale price input part "enabled" depending on the state of the radio button
<1> for that use js

<5> Thats what JS or Ajax or a two part form submission are for.
<2> yeah, got to learn more about JS.
<2> putting in validation on forms starts to get quite involved - follwong the example at codewalkers http://codewalkers.com/tutorials/47/8.html
<5> Ali_aus^ http://www.quirksmode.org/dom/usableforms.html
<1> its always a bitch to take 'humans' in to consideration, you have to presume they will do all sorts of ****
<2> _TaSm: ta
<4> the weakest link to every application is the user
<1> users shouldent be allowed, ban them all
<4> yeah if we didn;t have users our jobs would be so much easier
<4> lol
<1> lifes a bitch, kill your rdw
<1> oh i meant lifes a bitch, kill your self
<6> ello
<6> i got an php call on txt but now it displays it with strange signs as >> and other kind of things .... how can i convert that to normal UTF-8 ?
