<6> hi. my printed shared over lan is not working since i got a router. do I need to open some ports in order for it to work or what <7> nope <8> hey guys <8> i cant get this dlink setup to work <8> im runng the router from here... internet works fine... i try to network a laptop and another desktop with a dlink adapter <8> and its says <8> signal strong <8> connected... yet cant connet to web etc. <8> im cnfused <8> i feel noob :| <8> help? <8> please? <8> PLEASE?! <8> damn it <9> whats up? i know i am going to regret asking. but then i am just a Donkey at times <9> ok then dont ask the question <8> u know much about networkn? <9> i am just a DOnkey but ask anyway <10> hi <10> someone is DDosing me , my connection goes down , is there anything i can do to protect myself ? or it should be from the ISP side ? <9> nothing you can do, unless you have a dynamic ip.. just reboot your router and get a new ip <10> no it's a fixed ip <10> damn <9> if not you will need your ISP to either ***ign a new IP or filter the attack <10> if they are able to filter the attack why dont they just put filters for users <9> because a true DDoS attack is dynamic and will require custom filters on there routers to block that traffic <10> ok so in another way , i can Ddos you and you can do nothin ? <9> exactly <10> ouf <10> they are DDosing me with 10mbps :) <10> imagine .. <9> altough in my case i have multiple diverse connections with different ISP's so it would be harder to run a Denial of Service attack agianst me <9> well obviously they are not at the moment :P <10> yeah because i am not running that connection , im at my friends house .. lol <10> i contacted my ISP telling them i do not have internet connection ,they said to me that everything is perfect and the service is running and they do not have troubles <10> but can my ISP know that i am having an attack ? <9> yes <10> ok can i ask for a protection against DDos attack ? or it doesnt exists ? <9> they can ***ign you a different ip <9> or they can filter the DoS attack but that is not always so easy <8> hey againb <8> again* <8> i had the wirelss problm... <8> after reading up on it <8> Your modem and router are conflicting with each other. Whats happening is that both devices are trying to hand out DHCP info to your computer. <8> You only want one device doing DHCP, which is the router. So you need to disable DHCP on the modem. <8> please help..... my other desktop can send but NOT recieve anything from the router <8> one of you sed a WEP problem? <8> man <8> this is driving me insane <8> can someone tell me why i cant access my router settings page <8> PLEASE <11> pla heese <11> sigh <11> anyone here? <11> damn it <12> you around Caveman ? <7> babas: the team of psychics are still working on getting the information about your problem <11> lol <11> all i need to know is how do i find out if and what ethernet driver im using <11> and how come my router wont access it settings page?
<11> its* <7> which driver you're using as in driver version or what card you have? <7> and for the latter you still need to give out more info <12> brain farting and my ipcalc bugs on it .. all hosts in CIDR is 0.0.0.0/0 yes? <13> [23:13] <DeL3riUM> do u know how to configure a server in Win 2003 server ? <14> one thing I learned - 2003 installs with Terminal Services in non-admin mode by default. bad idea <4> hi all, anyone here have taken a Redhat certification exam,? I don't have redhat installed but i have fedora, is it ok to play and study fedora? thanks. <13> hi ng <13> how you today? <4> i just p*** Net+ <4> :) <15> ngine: I took the RH exams. <15> fedora is similar in many ways, but there are some major differences. <15> I wouldnt recommended just using fedora and expecting to p*** it. <4> some people recommend CentOS, he said its like Redhat <4> agree? <15> its built from the official RHEL source rpms <15> centos would be a good choice <9> why not just get RH and study that if you want to p*** the exam <15> RHEL is not free. :) <15> and I doubt the goober wants to pay for it. <4> heh <4> _JohnUK_ is a goober <15> I think there is a vmware image for rhel which is available though <14> get CentOS 4.3 - its RHEL <4> thanks guys <14> uses the freely available RHEL files from redhat <9> you can download RHEL evals <15> ngine: the RH exam is much much harder than Net+ :P <9> be it in .iso or in VMware <4> hmm.. <4> Arkaic: i'll study and prepare :) <15> ngine: lets put it this way. the test is hard enough that they give you the documentation from the CDs to reference during the exam. <15> if you havent worked with the stuff, much of it will be very foreign to you <4> is it Desktop specific? <15> read the objectives from the web site. <15> start with linux+ first :P <4> ok, Linux+ is good too <4> which one is cheaper? <15> linux+, of course <4> 218 bucks <4> just like Net+ <4> alright, Linux+ <4> first <15> RH exam is $750 US dollars <4> heh <4> each? <15> one exam <15> depending on your score, you get RHCE, or RHCT <15> or neither ;) <15> https://www.redhat.com/training/rhce/courses/rhexam.html <4> Arkaic: is it the exam provided by Prometric? <15> I dont recall who I went through when I took it. *shrug* <15> read the web site info <16> hello folks <15> heya Caveman <16> a pirate says "ARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH" <15> fun fun <16> sup dw <17> yo dw <18> Ok, so apparently Backup Exec will use port 1250 for your backups. So my multiple hundreds of gigabytes of network traffic were our backups, why were they getting sent to our mailserver? Because the mailserver is ALSO the backup server... Grrrr.... <1> nice <13> heh <17> sweet. <17> no other port config for it? <18> Not that I can find so far. According to the docs it picks a port between 1025 and 32000 and uses that one. So I'm not sure it will even always use 1250 for us. <1> in the lastest version (10?) it uses the port listed in the services file for the agent <18> Hrm we have 10. Lemme go check the services file... <1> I think the default is 10000, I remember having to change the files because Mas200 uses the same port <18> Nothing in the services file for 1250... Any idea what the Backup Exec service shows up as in the services file? It doesn't appear to have an entry in there... <1> uses ndmp listing, http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/255174.htm <18> thanks <18> Yah, no entry for it. So it should be using the defaults... Apparently it just randomly picked 1250 for us ... Well, I'm just gonna get a second switch, plug all of the secondary nics into that switch, and tell them backup to use that network...
