<4> Hey.. I'm having alot of trouble with a mysqldump.. On my old server (debian woody, mysql 3.23.49) i try doing a databasedump. When i import it to my new server (debian sarge, mysql 4.0.24) all my danish characters are totally ruined. Looks like they're somehow converted to UTF8 or something.. Any ideas?
<3> and the charset and collation used is?
<3> long story short, rtfm
<4> K_F: the character_set is set to latin1 on both servers. I've tried --default-character-set=latin1 with my mysqldump, but still no luck
<3> mysql> SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'character_set_system';
<4> Empty on both servers
<4> only character_set
<3> http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/4.1/en/charset.html anyways
<3> how is it stored in the file?
<4> looks like it's just fine in the file.. latin1
<5> uh oh! mysqld-nt.exe is crashing when the service is started and in the log files i'm getting this stuff: InnoDB: is in the future! Current system log sequence number 0 1156108. InnoDB: Your database may be corrupt.
<5> looking online and finding no solutions, i think i'm royally ****ed :P
<3> you're using windows after all
<3> only expected to have a few data corruptions, you can even use fat32 for all I know
<5> hehe
<6> what type of mysql column to use for inserting a data that is more then 10mbytes and then to use that data with fulltext match ?

<3> akira___ and instinctx
<3> Eldritch: "raw unencoded chars"? use UTF-8
<10> utf-8 uses multi byte chars right?
<8> K_F: my question.. do you know the exact name of the config file im looking for?
<3> Eldritch: theorethically up till 6 bytes
<3> instinctx: get a brain implant
<8> wish i could
<10> so im going to have to convert them in and out
<3> Eldritch: not really following, display it as UTF as well
<3> I use UTF-8 for everything, including IRC
<3> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utf-8
<3> instinctx: at least don't bug me
<8> ---can mysql work with anything else besides php, like cgi?
<3> you really are stupid, are you not?
<3> and whom are to say you don't run PHP as CGI?
<10> bugger it latin1_general_ci will do

<3> Eldritch: your question is somewhat interesting though
<10> how kind :0
<8> Sorry mate.. im starting school for all this trying to get an understanding before i start :p
<10> its my search engine, and i have a ferw multilingual pages, latin1_general_ci works for all but greek, russian and i dont care to much about them
<3> yeah, you would want utf-8 for that
<3> ><8B5@AB25==>9 >?0A=>AB8
<3> does mIRC support utf-8 now?
<3> http://www3.kfwebs.net/utf.png
<10> nope it was all garbage
<10> thats why i have avoided utf9 on web pages support
<10> i could convert to and from for the SE, but for 10 pages out of 2000 i dont think i care enough
<3> anyways, it says Committee for State Security
<3> I'm sure you know what that is..
<3> Komitet Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnosti
