<16> If I mount a windows share via mount.cifs, if that windows machine reboots, even after it books back up I lose the connection to the share until unmount and re-mount it. Is there a way to have that automatically done (or at least attemped) in the even a mount is lost?

<17> and if you want real-time checking of smb mounts, then make a cron job that tries to write to the remote fileshare... if it fails, then umount/mount the drive again.
