<0> that's all what i got
<1> Krueger: O.k. That's an sshkey thing
<1> Krueger: Or it could be a host allow thing
<0> how can i check this second option please?
<1> Krueger: Paste your /etc/hosts.allow over to pastebin.com
<0> more or less is the same network configuration i have on the RedHat machine, and there i can ssh from LAM machines
<1> Krueger: Yeah, paste your hosts.allow
<0> http://pastebin.com/719993 uhmm all the lines commented with #
<1> Krueger: On your user, run an ssh-keygen
<1> Krueger: And while you're at it do a tail -n 20 /var/log/auth.log and paste that over at pastebin.com
<0> tail: cannot open `/var/log/auth.log' for reading: No such file or directory
<1> Krueger: Are you kidding me? It's got to have some sort of an authorization log someplace
<0> the file doesn't exist on that machine
<1> Krueger: Look in /var/log/ and see if it has something like an ssh log or something that logs logins
<0> i'm there
<0> nada about ssh or something related

<1> Krueger: did you do ssh-keygen?
<0> wait
<0> what kind of keygen?
<1> It's a program
<0> yeah i know
<0> i meaned did you need any specific option with it?
<1> For ssh1 and ssh2
<1> Trying to find what I used exactly
<1> Can you paste your /etc/ssh/sshd_config over to pastebin.com?
<0> i need to install pico, i hate this VI
<1> Bah
<1> vim owns
<0> hehehe
<0> i've always used pico, since ages
<0> well i think i'll start playing with suse again tomorrow, it's 6:24 am here, and i need to sleep some hours
<0> as my eyes are almost close
<1> Bah
<0> sorry but i'm really almost slepy :) tnx for the time reality, i'll look for you again if i won't be able to fix it tomorrow
<2> http://www.google.com/intl/xx-hacker/
<3> Anyone here have a big Apache setup, using some sort of shared storage to serve all pages off of?
<3> I'm not too keep on rsync'ing everything between each node
<3> I'm thinking like GFS for all of these machines
<4> danq, I have done some similar stuff with eNBD
<4> any kind of CFS or NDB should probably have the funtionality your looking for
<4> NDB/NBD
<3> i just got back - was disconnected, sorry.
<3> (I missed what you said prior to eNDB
<3> )
<4> that was it actually
<3> ahh
<4> typically you would export a network block device and raid1 it to a local drive
<4> so if the backends ever down the servers can continue on
<3> yeah.
<3> hrm brb.
<5> anyone using skype
<6> hey danq, you around?
<7> hi all if I take a Linux cert exam, is it designed for all linux distro or just for a specific distro?
<3> linux_terror
<8> LadyByte: paste?
<9> More than 3 lines? Paste your stuff at http://paste.getlinuxhelp.org/ and then tell us the url it gives you.
<10> how do i turn off the forewall ?
<10> how do i turn off the firewall ?
<11> hello
<11> new user in linux
<11> i have my servers run windows2003 but like to do linux some can give some hits what linux carnel can i use
<12> you probably mean kernel, not carnel, and that's not exactly what you want. You're after a whole distribution and before you tip your toes in that water, maybe you better try a live cd first, like ubuntu's or perhaps knoppix
<11> ubuntu's ???
<13> hmm.. i wonder of there's something like a knoppix which boots straight into an rdp session
<12> Yeah, ubuntu's live cd seem to be very well contructed
<12> tojoe: didn't the terminal server project have something like that fir thin clients?
<12> s/fir/for/
<12> Or you could always roll your own ;)
<13> Coma_ iirc it should, but i have to look again, couldnt find anything the last time
<12> Hmm, but since you want it to boot in to rdp anyway, it sound like a thin client to me, and wouldn't knoppix be way too heavy for the task?
<13> Coma_ well, if i could something which can be booted from network it would be even better
<13> but first step would be getting rid of the local windows installations
<12> tojoe: shouldn't be too hard to setup, once you've got a working image. All it takes if a tftp server
<14> yo!
<12> heyo viking
<14> hello Coma_
<15> yeah, i meant for w3c complience

<12> Why not leave it out and try running it through their checker?
<15> good question
<15> wtf
<15> my ns stopped working for some reason
<15> erm...wtf
<15> ok, i irc from the nameserver
<15> but for some reason when i try to make new connections to hosts outside my lan, it's saying no route to host
<15> no, all my internal hosts are doing it
<15> what would spontaneously make my gateway stop forwarding new connections outside the lan without dropping established connections?
<15> oh, full ipconntrack table on the gateway :\
<12> Heh, you must be masqing for quite a number of boxen then
<15> prolly cuz of p2p
<15> i've had the problem before but not in a long time
<15> and it always used to take at least 30 days to happen. it's only been 3 since my last reboot
<12> You could try increasing ip_conntrack_max
<15> uh...
<15> wtf does this mean:
<15> cat: /proc/net/ip_conntrack: No space left on device
<15> i didn't try to cat it to another file
<15> just stdout
<16> /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max i think
<15> Neworder: yeah, that's one way of doing it, but i don't want to increase it again
<12> There's always beating up lusers
<15> i already had it set at 32678 before
<16> 32678 is good for 512 Mb / RAM
<15> heh, prolly why i'm having problems then
<15> part of the reason
<15> (ie the cat problem)
<15> my gateway only has 32mb
<17> sinthetek: reduce the life time of the conntrack
<13> Coma_ www.thinstation.com looks nice
<13> err, make that .org
<15> Neworder: actually that's more like 12mb from what i just read
<15> LadyByte calc 32678 + 4096
<12> tojoe: There ya go, someone's done all the hard work for you already :)
<15> LadyByte 32678 + 4096
<9> 36774
<18> can i enable user apache ina system ??
<15> T`aZ: any idea how to do that?
<12> sonasks: Mind rephrasing that a little?
<16> sonasks: apache, httpd, or nobody must have /bin/false. don't set a valid shell for this user
<12> Heh, and don't use nobody/nogroup
<12> Neworder: But you actually understood what he's after? ;)
<12> For all I know he could be after mod_userdir ;)
<17> sinthetek: erm , it should be in /proc somewhere, but i cant find it atm , i even never used it, but i think it's possible to do it
<17> sinthetek: someone tells me to try reducing tcp_keepalive_time too
<12> Krazy-J: Because of apt-get
<12> Well... apt-get and debian having just about everything available as a package
<19> installs everything with a good default configuration..
<20> ahh I see
<20> Basicly i'm after a pretty basic control panel
<20> Just to setup/manage mail accounts/ftp accounts + SQL db's
<20> i've only really had experience with cpanel X
<12> I can't think of a control panel I really like, except for the one I wrote myself. But that's not ready for m*** consumption yet
<20> Ohhh
<20> So you havenot heard of ISPConfig?
<12> Oh, I have, and of cpanel, gnuhh and a bunch of others. I just didn't like them too much and decided to write my own
<20> also is that version of debian = Debian 3.1?
<12> That's the latest _stable_ release alright
<20> ahh ok, how long ago was the most recent BETA version released?
<12> There's no real beta, but there is debian testing, which receives updates every day
<20> is debian recommneded for home usage aswell as servers?
<12> and then there's the unstable tree too, but that's not for the fainth of heart
<12> Krazy-J: Imho, yes. Though a lot of people seem to prefer ubuntu on the desktop
<20> Yeah I have that one currently
<20> Dual boot with my windows :P
<20> only recently started to like linux :P
<20> or actually start using it...
<21> does anyone know how to add a capability to a shell?
<21> I need it to activate mouse in a text-mode terminal
<12> jkarretero: install gpm
<21> yes, I have installed it
<21> I tell you the problem
<21> I want to use the mouse in a text-mode console
