<0> sooooo... dead over here then?
<1> hello, is there someone to help me ?
<2> Not ifyou expect someone to guess what it is that you think you need help with.
<1> when i try to login into my user.. doesnt work.. is there a way to backup a known configuration.. or to make it work ? im using suse 10
<2> Gee, that's *so* descriptive.
<1> what else do you want to know ? i told you my problem.. mode text works.. graphic no..cannot log in..
<2> No, actually you hadn't said anything about console vs X until *after* my comment.
<2> In any case, I don't get involved in people's X configurations.
<1> is this a joke ?
<2> Joke? Hardly. Getting involved in whatever people do to break X11 is just an exercise in pain. I avoid it.
<1> ofcourse, stupid people buy linux, helpers laughts
<3> scorp: have you checked the log?
<4> scorp, you came in giving us little clue to what the actual problem is, what error it gives you or what you have tried to resolve it, only through mwilson mentioning your bad description have we begun to find out its a gui problem of sorts
<1> i've checked the log.. but i have no ideea what's happening there..

<1> ScoT: i cant see what error it gives me, because when i try to log in nothing happens. when i log in in mod text, su user and try to start startx it tells me something about init, but i can save in my mind all what is writing there..
<3> hence the log
<5> "su: Authentication service cannot retrieve authentication info. (Ignored)" Any idea what's causing this in gentoo 2006.0 and how I can fix it? It only seems to do this when su'ing to 'postgres', other accounts are fine.....
<1> sorry kodon, i dont know what "hence" means.. :(
<4> scorp, has the gui worked previously ?
<1> everything worked fine, i shuted down the pc and when i tried back to log in.. this error
<1> someone told me to copy .xinitrc from elsewhere.. but even my user and my root's .xinitrc is empty file..
<4> scorp, have you tried logging in as root su - (not su) and creating another ordinary user and doing startx ?
<1> no
<1> aa
<1> yes
<1> i tried
<1> and it works perfect
<1> if i create another user works fine, nothing wrong
<2> scorp: So... you'll continue to give them useless information, rather than looking at the log? You say you "can't save in your mind all what is writing there", but you expect someone else to guess?
<1> i thought there is a way to backup the start process..
<4> scorp, the logs are very useful, sounds like you messed up or lost the users .xinitrc do 'which startx' and read the file with the path output, never had to do it before, but i ***ume you're right and can copy it over www.google.com/linux and put in copy .xinitrc
<6> php-4.4.2 is better then 5.1.2 ?
<1> ScoT: this is the error: http://pirtz.net/1.txt
<1> I think now i enough clear with my error..
<7> Anyone know debian install floppies??? Is USB HDDs supported by default???
<4> scorp dunno what you've done to those fonts
<1> ScoT: i've done nothing to those fonts, this is the problem :( do you know what i have to do to fix it ?
<4> scorp try /etc/init.d/xfs start (then try startx)
<4> if that doesnt work no idea sorry
<1> now it doesnt work the root login too..
<4> i doubt it will, if the other user can startx
<4> suse allows a root gui login ?
<1> mm.. i guess yes
<4> scorp hmm never used suse, are you using kde or gnome
<1> if i remove from xorg.conf those lines who are trying to init that fonts.. it will fix the problem ?
<1> kde
<4> scorp i honestly have no idea if that would fix the problem, but i'd backup a copy of that file before removing them, or just comment the lines out if you intend to test that
<1> i think i will comment the lines
<7> (Hard Drives-Total Free: 9.73 GB)
<8> dont do that
<0> Redragon^! I demand you make lost coast longer!
<7> Anyone present who can help me on Debians 3.1 Install floppies?? Its about USB support.... I just want to know something very simple... :)
<8> lol its just a demo
<9> night all
<8> gnight scot
<0> MAKE IT A GAME!!!
<0> it pretty much bitch slaps my computer though
<10> its been a while, and i just reinstalled slackware... is it just me or does xf86config no longer exist?
<11> nmaf: /etc/X11/xorg.conf
<11> The XFree86 project changed their license, exacerbating already strained internal differences, which lead to a fork in the project, with xorg-x11 being the result.
<0> still up longword?
<11> Nope, I'm down
<12> shutdown -h now
<12> ?
<0> well... that's not good
<11> I'm happy enough
<0> wouldn't you rather be left though? or maybe right?
<13> hey
<13> could anyone tell me what's the equivalent for xf86config in x.org?
<14> hello
<15> how can i reinstall bash?
<14> what distribution ?
<16> somebody said distribution was a collection of goodies built around a kernel like Linux, or 1 to 10 years depending on the jurisdiction and what you're distributing
<15> CentOS

<14> no idea then, sorry
<14> try finding a bash rpm
<17> good morning
<14> good morning michaeltj
<17> good morning _switch
<17> prisma00 driver installed, hardware present
<17> prisma00.sys invalid driver!
<18> hello
<18> can anyone tell me how do i install tar cmd ?
<18> anyone here?
<14> yes.
<18> _switch can u tell me how do i install tar cmd ?
<18> on Linux 2.4.20 #29 Thu Mar 17 12:11:44 EST 2005 mips unknown ?!
<14> did you try to google ?
<18> nope
<14> why not ? are you a hippie ?
<18> no
<18> do u tell me or not ?
<19> mips? what box are you running there?
<18> what do u mean with "what box are u running ?
<14> by looking at your whois information .. I see just how retarded undernet is.
<19> ok, well you are running an old kernel on a mips box. Is it a router or modem or similar, or are you on something funky with a fully loaded distribution ?
<18> i think it`s a router
<18> it is from a friend of mine
<18> _switch and what`s ur problem ?
<19> ok, so you are going to have almost no lib's on there to play with so you will need to install a mips cross-compiler, all the required libs and probably compile tar up as a static binary.. just in p***ing.. what the hell do you want tar on a router for ?
<14> I bet the router in question is a box you've owned with a public exploit and now don't know how to put psybnc or some sh!t on it.
<18> _switch u are wrong because i already have a psybnc
<18> :)
<14> because you seem the typical romanian script kiddie kind.
<18> really?
<16> Yes aslpls, really.
<18> i don`t do such things
<20> aslpls, you dont have legitimate access to a MIPS box and dont know how to setup TAR the same time. go away!
<18> lol
<18> what makes u think i don`t have legit access?
<20> people like you deserve a network wide ban
<18> really?
<16> Yes aslpls, really.
<21> hmm.. 2.4.20 and mips.. must be some brodacom based router like the wrt54 or somesuch
<21> err broadcom
<20> hardware routers use mipsel?
<19> yeah.. my belkin is similar
<20> but you can update such routers, right?
<19> usually, but more often than not the kernel version does not change..
<20> oh i see
<19> # cat /proc/version
<19> Linux version 2.4.17 (root@JoshuaNotebook) (gcc version 3.1) #42 Fri May 20 18:52:07 CST 2005
<19> its a mips in a Belkin router with the Broadcom processor chipset
<22> how can I make system sounds play while xmms plays?
<19> use a sound daemon like arts or esd (yuk), get a soundcard that does hardware mixing (like my SB Live 5.1) or I think the latest alsa has a setup for a userspace mixing daemon, but your apps need to use libalsa
<23> hi all, can I get a Linux or IT related certification by studying online?
<22> that question would interest me too
<20> you can study online. but i think the test itself you have to take somewhere local
<22> *has
<22> oh
<22> sorry
<22> my mistake
<24> .o
<20> what a silly away message
<21> yeah, i guess i'll get rid of it - doesnt talk besides those stupid away messages
<24> morning tojoe , longword
<11> Morning
<11> I've decided that Half-Life 2 and Command & Conquer must merge
<21> 'morning themaxxz, longword
<11> So that we can finally have a Combine Harvester
<20> hehe
