<0> the 'store' is part of it
<1> i'm a moron, but one day i'll be good at this i hope lol
<0> depending on how slack works these days
<1> got rock lobster cranked through linux
<1> lmao
<0> you might have to add '/sbin/modprobe snd-ens1371' and 'alsactl restore' lines to /etc/rc.d/rc.local
<0> :P
<0> congrats
<1> is the local like the autoexec kinda for linux?
<0> yeah, on linux scripts which contain start procedures are found in /etc/rc.d or (usually) /etc/init.d
<0> s/start/boot
<0> if you just add those commands to rc.local, it shouldn't hurt anything, but the proper way is probably to look for a /etc/rc.d/rc.alsa.conf or some such to edit
<1> so what i have just done has to be done everytime on boot up
<1> and adding those lines to the rc.also will do that?
<0> what have you 'just done'? what i said with rc.local?
<1> how did you know that i had to use snd -ens1371?

<1> no like the commands we used to get the sound working inititally
<1> if i reboot my computer now i would have to do this all over again right
<0> googled for linux Ensoniq 5880 module
<1> thats why i have to add them to this rc.local
<0> no... that is what the rc.local thing is for
<0> actually though
<0> tell me if 'alsaconfig' or 'alsaconf' works
<2> hey
<2> how do i create a .tar.gz file with some directories?
<0> flush: tar -cf file.tar dir1/ dir2/ ... && gzip -9 file.tar
<3> tar -czf file.tar.gz dir/
<2> thx
<1> that worked
<1> alsaconf
<2> damn im such a newb
<2> i want to create a .zip file for a win**** user... i guess ill "man zip"
<0> dudet3: awesome. so you can prolly skip the additions to rc.local then
<1> its asking if i wana modify the /etc/modules.cnf
<0> alsamixer was to change mixer settings, alsactl store was to save those mixer settings and alsaconf command should have configured system to load proper modules and restore mixer settings on boot
<0> it's asking if YOU want to or if IT should?
<1> if i want to change the settings
<2> question
<1> do i want to modify
<2> can winzip open .tar.gz files under windows ?
<0> dudet3: yeah
<1> so i want to modify it?
<0> click yes or ok
<0> i'm pretty sure it's asking if you want it to add the proper modules to load
<0> at boot*
<1> ok i think that worked
<0> word
<0> remember what i said about /var/log and google. 90% of the time you can get info and resolutions from them way faster than anyone in here
<1> yeah
<0> most people have grown spoiled with their distros these days
<1> thanks for the help... hey do you use azureus
<1> under linux?
<0> and refuse to even try to help someone if it means typing more than 1-2 lines
<0> no, i stay away from java when i can
<1> what do you use for torrents then?
<2> azureus
<4> dudet3, i do
<0> i use mldonkey+kmldonkey which supports bittorrent, fasttrack, opennap, gnutella1, gnutella2, soulseek, etc
<1> hmmm
<0> mldonkey really is all that is needed, though. i just prefer the kmldonkey interface
<1> hey terror i installed it yesterday and found that most torrents don't work
<0> but mldonkey alone comes with a mlnet ui and a web-based interface
<1> it tells me that the torrent files aren't torrent files
<0> and you can configure it to allow other hosts on the network to connect and search for files and start downloads
<4> dudet3, never had any issues here with it
<1> why do you stay away from java sinthetek
<0> i have mine configured so that my little sister can connect with kmldonkey on her kubuntu system and start downloads
<0> and then my download directories are shared with her computer via nfs
<4> dudet3, perhaps you need to add the mime type to /etc/mime.types?
<0> it's not worth the overhead when there are alternatives
<5> some trackers don't allow mlnet anymore :-/
<0> that ****s :(
<1> hey terror if i send you a link for a torrent can you try it on yours and let me know if it works
<0> i haven't noticed but i usually don't use torrents too often
<6> help me
<6> trk varm kanalda

<5> some "hubs" or whatever are they called in edonkey don't allow mlnet anymore

<6> pardus
<2> someone knows where i can find some hosts to connect with, using gnutella
<2> like a host list or something..
<7> RISCx2: Err, no. But a good place nonetheless.
<9> the IP for my server changed approximately 1 week ago. i updated the DNS entry, it took a day or two to progatate, then everything was fine. Today, it's not working again. If I try to ping or whatever, it brings up the IP address from a week ago. Browser won't connect with the domain name.
<9> Is it normal for DNS problems to happen again 1 week after updates?
<5> Depends on the DNS server you're using.
<9> Znuff - what gets me is that it worked perfectly fine for 5-6 days
<5> on the same machine, same isp? same computer, etc.?
<9> Znuff, nothing at all on my end has changed.
<5> (why did I put a there :-/)
<6> help meeeeeeeeeeeeeee

<8> Good Kick. Nice exit msg too. Score: 8/10
<1> lol
<0> anyone know if there is a postfix command to purge all reject/failed mail deliveries that are still attempting to be delivered?
<0> s/reject/rejected
<11> sinthetek: I don't know postfix, but I ***ume 'man mailq' will contains a suitable combination of switches
<1> is there a way to list all the mounted drives i have connected to my PC,,, Slackware
<12> hehh.
<12> some things never change.
<0> *sigh*
<0> dudet3: the 'mount' command
<1> ok great sorry for the stupid qestions
<0> 'mount' alone at the prompt or 'cat /proc/mounts'
<1> i am documenting all of this so i won't have to ask it twice :P
<0> they aren't that stupid. just annoying people who know full well refuse to answer because you use slackware
<12> thats about right.
<0> dudet3: you might be better off asking on freenode or efnet. for some reason undernet linux help channels are prejudiced
