<5> FASg: well, with the source you can compile it and install it to your home dir ....but you will need to edit your .bashrc file and add it to your LIBRARY_PATH line.... to compile and install 'at home' you will have to either of the following "./configure --prefix=$HOME" or "./configure ; make DESTDIR=$HOME" its a little tricky unless you cimpile a lot of stuff for yourself... Answer to the second question, you have to have root perms in
<5> order to install an rpm... you can extract the files and then install them to your HOME dir... to extact: rpm2cpio <rpmname> | cpio -dim and then just manually copy them to $HOME/lib %HOME/bin $HOME/etc

It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to repeat everything three or four times... I just said the heck with it and use pastebin. I put all the instructions there and gave him a link...that way he can reread it as many times as necessary
