<10> nah, by default the PRINT key has no function on XFCE. thats the problem. and the capture function of GIMP is uncomfortable. but i found a category on freshmeat with 2 interesting projects. checking them right now: http://freshmeat.net/projects/iv/ and http://freshmeat.net/projects/xvidcap/
