<0> wasnt HSP a modem or somethin' ? <1> As opposed to a particularly poor example of a winmodem? <2> mwilson: mwilson yeah, sure, continious reallocation for a counter <3> yeah i have hsp56 micromodem <2> mwilson: you have something more stupid to say ? <3> and the sound card chipset says "hsp56 HRTF audio Com" <1> T`aZ: You're the one who apparently thinks it's a good idea. <3> with other numbers but its HSP56 <2> mwilson: not the way you say it <0> flush and you're tryin' to play mp3's to your modem's audio ? <1> flush: A HSP56 is a winmodem. A PCI128 is a sound card. What does the one have to do with the other? <3> negative its not a damn modem <0> =)) <4> mwilson: "eventually overflow" is a matter of practicality <2> mwilson: btw who says it's kernel related ? <0> T`aZ any recomandations ? ( something that doesnt need to much configuring ? )
<1> T`aZ: There's somewhere else it would be? <3> damn damn damn i have the chip in my face, it says HSP56 CM18738/PCI-SX HRTF Audio Com MBJ96-037D 0104UGGD <4> mwilson: If it'll overflow after the heat death of the universe, it hardly matters. <2> mwilson: in ifconfig itself ? <4> mwilson: if it overflows before then and it's useful for people, it's a bug. <3> should i use the soundblaster or the other one <2> BitlBee: iptables <1> flush: Do you need a modem, or a sound card? <3> a sound card <1> flush: Then use the sound card, not the modem. <3> omg <4> s/before then/before a reasonable time has p***ed/ <2> BitlBee: with everything going through ACCEPT <3> ill find you a ****ing picture of the hsp56 soundcard <0> T`aZ can you give me an example ? :D <2> BitlBee: iptables -A -j ACCEPT <3> http://www.cmedia.com.tw/product/doc8738_pci.htm <0> T`aZ and where do I see the traffic ? :D <2> BitlBee: erm, more exactly -A SMTHG , with SMTHG being OUTPUT or POSTROUTING or something liek that i dont remember which one is the correct one <0> hmm .. <2> BitlBee: iptables -L ...(something) , man iptables for more info <0> lewl .. <0> -L is list .. -A append .. <2> yup, but there is a summary switch or something, which will output the total <0> I'll booble it in the morning <0> right now .. I'll go dream some boobies <5> srpms and normal disc's for fedora core 4 whats the difference <0> geez <0> srpms - source rpm's <0> the normal discs are the binaries <0> doubt you need the srpm's <5> cool <3> what could happen, at worse, if i unplug a pci card without shuting down the computer <6> I used MySQL-administrator to add another user so i wont have to use root and it creates new_user and another tag <3> do i have HIGH CHANCES of gettin it burned? <6> when i'm selectin the newuser i can't add permissions but only to the 2nd one that i create, when i try to save changes it's says duplicate name etc, so my question is <6> how do i add a user from within MySQL (console) or how do i add grant all to that user from MySQL(console) ? <6> the damn thing crashes when i'm trying to apply changes. <2> flush: probably the PS will shutdown anyway <3> damn <2> *NOT TESTED* :p <3> yeah i know i wont do it <7> The worst? You will short everything out, fry yourself and burn your house down. <3> it involves too much risk to not loose my uptime, which i might loose anyway <3> yeah i might die, at worst <6> anyone ? <3> i dunno bout mysql <8> whitewabbit grant all privileges table.database to user@host using 'p***word' <6> Redragon, let me try. <6> Okay, listen, i will create one use from/with MySQL administrator. <6> Then, i will do whatever you said and see if it works.I want this user to be able to create databses and to have permissions global. <8> then its a bit different <6> table.database ? <8> just a sec <6> i want him to have global <6> thanks buddy <8> grant all on *.* to user@host identified by 'p***word' with grant option <8> then you need to do flush privileges; <8> thats a global access administrator <8> dvds :)
<6> Okay, one last question, <6> why o why MySQL administrator has both @localhost and linux.site as user ? <6> i have error in the syntax it says <9> whitewabbit, To log in remote or local, see the helpfule help docs <8> generally its best to limit that kinda access <10> hi, i need some help, I have two network cards, one embedded on the mobo, and the other on a standard PCI slot <11> How do I take the directory of /mnt/cdrom and turn that into an iso file that can be bootable once it has been burned with a program like k3b? <6> That's what i did, Redragon, it says there is a problem w/ the syntax <10> everytime I run netconfig, the internet is configured for the one embedded <10> how do I specifiy that I want to use the second network card? <10> i run slackware linux <6> tell me what exactly i have to type to give global priviledges to that user please. <8> http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/grant.html <6> i'm on it, thanks. <10> sorry for my bad english, anyone can help me pls? <10> basicly I have two netowrk cards, and I want to use only one for internet acces, but with the 'netconfig' tool it only uses the one embedded on the motherboard <10> how do I specify which card to use? <9> solis, With slackware, open an xterm and use ifconfig, see the man page for sytax <10> ifconfig? i am not on slackware not, i will reboot and try, will the settings i make take effect every time i run linux? <10> or do i need to add something to the initrd? <5> ubuntu, suse, fedora or mandriva ? just need personal awnser's please ! <6> Redragon, i don't understand the document. <12> c13 kinda hard to advise you on what others like, if you have no previous experience with linux then the main trend is to go with something like fedora <7> Or Mepis, linspire, Knoppix, PClinuxos..... <7> etc.... <5> ScoT: anything like urpmi or apt-get for fedora? <12> yeah it has yum <12> and you can get apt for it <7> fedora also has apt-get, which is remarkably similar to apt-get. <5> Cyrano_De: and for suse anything like that? <7> Yes, apt-get is all I use for package management in Suse <5> cool <5> and do you know for ubuntu ... <7> ubuntu is debian based. Debian is the distro that to my knowledge created apt. <7> So, yes. <5> cool <5> i'm gonna download em all <5> but mandriva is pretty cool i find it's what i got now <7> Many find their current distro to be the coolest. <5> Cyrano_De: like they got enlightenment and everything for every distro right .. fluxbox... <7> I'm relatively agnostic. <5> suse hase got a gdm ? <5> kdm .. xdm... <9> Most distros have mostly the same software and SuSE has it all <5> cool <7> Most distro's offer a good choice of window managers. While SuSe has gdm and gnome, it is not the best distro for Gnome out of the box. <5> i use kde... <7> Suse does have a VERY large ***ortment of packages available from this CDs. <7> I'm moving to icewm <5> that coulden't beat kde tho i think <7> It can when your looking for speed and little memory usage. <7> icewm is MUCH faster than KDE and uses less than half the memory. <5> Cyrano_De: you got witch version on suse now <5> 10.1 beta 3 ? <5> should i be better of with 10.0 or ill be able to update 10.1 beta3 when the time come's <7> Which machine? My ldap/fileserver is 9.2, the work laptop is 9.3, the home workstation is OpenSuse 10.0. <7> I did not like the changes they made to sax in OpenSuse so I do not run it on my work laptop. <7> OpenSuse is not very good for xinerama (multi-monitor) work. <7> I have a VERY large desktop at work with the laptop lcd and a 20" CRT. <3> yo i installed a second floppy and now the first one keeps the light always on <5> but 10.1 beta is better then 10.0 no <3> why the **** <5> newer stuff ... <7> Not neccecarily. Latest does not always == greatest. <5> Cyrano_De: so i should go with 10.0 insted of 10.1 or ... i got one peecee one screen a workstation <7> That is up to you. I can't make that choice for you. Read up on them and make your own mind up. <5> what so different with 10.1 compared to 10.0 <7> If it is any kind of mission critical need for your machine I would never run a beta program let alone OS on it. <5> no mission ... <7> You will have to read up on that at www.opensuse.org. I have not followed any of the developments of Opensuse at all. <5> i just use my computer to listen to music and stuff <5> so 10.1 will be good for me <7> If you plan on helping to develop/debug suse, go with the 10.1 version. If you want to use it and learn Linux, use the 10.0 version. <7> Any distro will be good for you if you take the time to read and learn it.
