<0> it's what the software likes
<0> I actually installed it on FC4 and modified the install.sh file to not check for fc1 and what not and it puked out big time
<0> They do make it for CentOS4 though I found out after I installed it on FC1..
<1> beat the developer
<0> I'll be damned if I install it again
<0> FC1 works fine, does what it needs
<2> you should beat the developer with a big stick.
<3> And on top of that, has no security updates. How can you possibly go wrong?
<2> mwilson: if it's a web app, could set it up and use Apache2 to proxy requests.
<2> at least it'd be safe then.
<0> Just a mock up demo really
<1> No updates no restarting services....Just think of the uptime....
<2> Cyrano_De: yeah, until your ISP kills your 'net connection because the box is being used to spam everyone.
<0> Prolly install the new server with centos4
<2> whooooops
<1> Botnets love uptime...

<2> lol
<1> For developers do you have to follow the rule of thumb like you do for your wife?
<3> If it's a "mock-up demo", then whyinhell are you uploading to it? Don't bother to lie... whatever this is, you've got it connected to the live internet.
<0> The impact of the blow depends of the A. Degree of Stress caused by the "object" and B. tThe multiplier, 2x for a devloper, 3x for a wife.
<0> Actually it is not connected to the internet, I am just connecting to it peerly through intranet.
<0> I've been hacked, those are my files!
<2> right.
<0> Good thing Microcrap ships anonymous ftp servers out of box

<4> hold on, hold on
<4> hit escape key
<4> this puts vi in command mode, then type :q!
<4> this exits without saving
<4> lets make a copy of the original file first
<4> cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.old

<8> whats the best way to remove Linux without trashing the partition?
<4> 'trashing'?
<8> I install on drive that has XP installed
<4> you have a drive with one partition which has xp installed and you want to install linux so you can dual boot?
<8> well I created Linux own partition
<8> but when I remove the linux partition..it screws the whole drive up
<8> and have to fdisk/format reinstall windows
<4> ultimately, what do you want to do with the partition after you remove linux?
<8> use it for windows
<4> use windows xp disk mgmt to format the drive with ntfs
<9> hey there , i have a redhat 8 linux box useing it for routeing , and till now i didnt use no kind of desktop, i managed the box thru network, how i can put a X desktop ? have to instal a rpm packege or ? couse i know is not instaled
<4> unbelievable
<4> OrTigaS: check your email
<4> man00: other option - partition magic or equivilent
<6> okay
<4> OrTigaS: um, did you get the file?
<9> monkieboy , i have a redhat 8 linux box useing it for routeing , and till now i didnt use no kind of desktop, i managed the
<9> box thru network, how i can put a X desktop ? have to instal a rpm packege or ? couse i know is not instaled
<4> Mad: figure out which desktop wm you want first. i would suggest gnome or kde. then head over to their website, start installing dependencies via rpms, then go after the core installer
<4> spend a lot of time reading the documentation
<4> i must go now
<4> good night
<10> :)
<11> gah....
<12> 'evening.
<13> im doing man date, now i tried date +%N , what does nanoseconds mean?
<11> they're like picoseconds
<13> picoseconds?
<13> so nanoseconds is smaller than seconds right?
<11> yes, basic units of time
<13> so it's displaying the seconds in time but a little bit smaller in nanoseconds, am i right?
<13> if i use that as my filename so it is impossible to have a file conflict right?
<13> like if a user execute the command to create a file and then i use the nanoseconds result as my filename,it would be impossible for any user to have same filename right?
<14> boo
<11> ?
<14> ting-init personally i use the unix timestamp along side a 6 digit randomly generated number to ensure unique filename
<13> Redragon^ hey coder of gnuhh ;)
