<trustixer> Just test Knoppix :-) and install it while you use it ... that just amazes me hehe <reality> I used to run Mandrake on a pII 300 with 64 megs of ram and it ran just fine <Lion-O> Floydian: thats because Linux requires you to think for yourself. <Floydian> Oh really, like I never think for myself :P <Lion-O> If you can only get past the installation process and base your entire opinion on the end result then yeah; you probably won't like it. <Lion-O> Floydian: it sure seems that way. Just like you had to go here to ask about Crux while you could have found the manual telling you how to do it in 30 seconds. <Floydian> No I goes further back at time I think.. just to install my sound card it took me 3 days lol <yoz> it took him 3 days. lol <Lion-O> amazing how steep stupidity can go. <yoz> especially the lol abuse. ;) <yoz> I wonder how those are actually able to connect to irc. :/ <Lion-O> yoz: they click on 'connect' in mIRC. <cyberpunk> :P <yoz> Lion-O: wait.. that's that easy? ;) <th3_c00k> ok i have a problem with my sshd, when i check /var/log/auth.log it says trying to bind to 0.0.0.0 address already inuse, it tells me, when i try to ssh into my box using putty and what not i get a error telling me the server unexpetedly closed the connection. what can i do to fix this anyone? <Bjprn-> th3_c00k: as root user? <Lion-O> th3_c00k: man ps, man netstat, see what other stuff is already running. <Lion-O> th3_c00k: and ofcourse you can check the sshd logs. <th3_c00k> where are the sshd logs i forgot <Lion-O> th3_c00k: check the config file. <yoz> *g* <th3_c00k> i have checked it many times <Lion-O> pretty amazing that you forgot when you just said to have quoted something from a logfile. <Bjprn-> check man file for links to where log file is <PolarWolf> " But without sendmail.cf foo, how will we distinguish between the best admins and the mediocre? Sendmail was more useful as a litmus test than as an MTA" <PolarWolf> Ha ha ha. <Lion-O> PolarWolf: sendmail is IMO one of those things which' name lasts longer than the producs useability. <PolarWolf> Lion-O: It should have been put out of our misery ages ago <Lion-O> s/producs useability/products usability/ <Riddle_Box> i'm sorry <Tron> Oh did I miss some boredom? Ah well. <Riddle_Box> i accidently opened two clients <Lion-O> PolarWolf: its a relic from the war some people still hang on to ;) The Great Unix wars I meant ;) <Lion-O> Riddle_Box: he's talking about a period longer than the past 3 days. <Lion-O> and quite frankly I'm slowly beginning to agree. <Ka-bar> Tron: you missed recess. the kiddies have been playing. <Riddle_Box> lion-0, ka-bar: i'm sorry i'll try to contribute more then ^_^ <th3_c00k> well i can ssh into my box through konsole and what not but when i try to connect to ssh through thge outside world i get that damn error still what the hell is the i***ue here <Riddle_Box> th3_c00k: you have a router? <th3_c00k> yes <th3_c00k> i allowed it <Riddle_Box> do you have port forwarding on? <Lion-O> th3_c00k: sounds like a firewall/router issue then. <th3_c00k> yes <th3_c00k> i turned firewall off and router has allowed it man <Riddle_Box> port 22 right? <Riddle_Box> or did you specify another port? <Ka-bar> wwow <th3_c00k> yes port 22 <Antrix> hey guys :) is there a fully implemented SVG rendered for linux? also open source would be nice <Lion-O> still, first I'd solve the "port already in use" issue. <th3_c00k> no the port isnt in user i solved that p[roblem now <Ka-bar> Antrix: try google <Ka-bar> Antrix: mozilla has some kind of SVG project but I've no clue as to what state it's in. <Antrix> I checked the svg mozilla status, but unfortunately it does not support animation and other things yet <th1nk> Tron, maybe the reason you knew junk, is because you used to search for pr0n p***es in his chans? either way i think this started a fuggin bot war again :/ your a ****. Can you be nothing else? <cruocitae> L. <th3_c00k> damn i wqonder how iom gonna fix this crap <Lion-O> and another cluebie banned. <Lion-O> th3_c00k: one step at a time. <th3_c00k> should i just do a whole complete reinstall or what guys <Lion-O> th3_c00k: I already gave you some hints but you ignored them. <th3_c00k> no i didnt <th3_c00k> u tryed to do what u said <th3_c00k> none of it helped me <Ka-bar> th3_c00k: er, a complete re-install seems a little severe. <Ka-bar> ok, then, never mind. <Ka-bar> :) <Lion-O> he checked his logs in 3 minutes when at first he didn't even know where they were located. riiiiight. <Ka-bar> hehe <Ka-bar> "u tryed to do what u said"...... <Tron> WHy is it the interesting things only get said about me when I'm away from my PC. <Lion-O> Tron: keyword: kiddie. <Ka-bar> because we're watching your webcam and talk about you behind your back... :) <Tron> Apparently, *I* have started a "fuggin bot war"? Just because I booted out a troll? <yoz> Tron: hehe.. that's what i call improvement! <Tron> *shrug* <cyberpunk> he's sulking now :) <yoz> oh no.. not the cock again. <CancerMan> So... When working with SCSI SE, what does a recurring phase error mean?" <Bjprn-> yoz: you? <CancerMan> yoz: You said you liked the cock last night... ... <yoz> ;-P <cyberpunk> CancerMan: lol <CancerMan> Heh. So... Seriously... What's a damned phase error when working with Single-End (TTL) SCSI mean? Because I'm about to take an IBM 9.1G up to the roof, and let it experience 0G, then 400G. <CancerMan> Err... Sorry... 'phase mismatch'. <CancerMan> Does that mean I need to attatch an inverter? :D <CancerMan> Ok... And the complete story. I have an HP 9000 J210. The hard drive (Unknown HVD) was removed on purchase. It has a SCSI-I/II SE bus carried over a 50-pin 'narrow' bus. The CDROM and DDS-3 drive are on this bus. I have an adapter that allows me to connect a 50-pin 'narrow' bus to a 68-pin 'wide' bus. However, I havn't been able to get... <CRLF> <illogic> http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/candy/6b77/ <illogic> that means 24/7 programming <CancerMan> ...to get my one 9.1G IBM SCSI-LVD/SE drive (with the SE mode jumper set) to work thus far. It continually kernel panics with that 'phase mismatch' problem. <CancerMan> And now... Time to try a Seagate. :/ <PolarWolf> Bleh, Rutte. <PolarWolf> Naja. <Coma> Haha <Coma> PolarWolf: Voted for Rita then? :P <PolarWolf> Coma: I had my bet on her :) <PolarWolf> Coma: I'm not political party bound :P <Coma> PolarWolf: If I'd have had a say in it, I'd have voted for Jelleke =) <PolarWolf> Coma: I generally make up my mind in the booth <PolarWolf> Coma: Haha <PolarWolf> Whoa, nu.nl is quick <PolarWolf> So's geenstijl <Coma> Well duh, they probaly had everything in place already, just having to fill in $name <PolarWolf> Yah <PolarWolf> Watching TV with the cursor hovering over the "publish" button for the article to publish <PolarWolf> Drooling from excitement <Coma> And on goes the rattling about political nonsense. They sure started campainign early <Shadur> Okay, testing the new DSL line... <Shadur> shadur@bahamut:~/ > scp 100MBtest.bin marduk: <Shadur> 100MBtest.bin 100% 100MB 1.4MB/s 01:10 <PolarWolf> Oh, I already shut it off <Shadur> Score. <Coma> If I were able to reach the remote, so would I <CancerMan> Now testing SCSI 68->50 with a Seagate 2G. <Coma> Hmm, teevees ought to be equiped with bluetooth <CancerMan> Yes. That way we can have the network, the telephone, the oven, AND the TV in the 2.4GHz band. <Coma> lol <Coma> "Hey, why does the tv change channels when I use the microwave" <CancerMan> We record some of our cl***es... <CancerMan> ...and we have a ParkerVision system (The camera tracks the microphone and points at it), a MediaSite Live, and a Polycom VS4000. <CancerMan> So... The ParkerVision mics are rife with problems. <CancerMan> ...and we had a Telex mic in there as well... as a backup. <CancerMan> So, one cl*** the PV mic sounded like shizzat, and nobody noticed because they wern't listening to the pre-recorder output. This wasn't something normally done since it required leaving the control panel and babysitting the MSL rack. <CancerMan> ...so the smart-***es in one of the departments bought some wireless headphones to listen to the monitor with... ...and Friday, the PV mic failed -- dead battery. So they hooked up the Telex mic and started using it. <CancerMan> ...well, it never got recorded. Why? Because the microphone receiver was off. Why could I head it in the earphones? Because the Telex mic interfered with the headphones. Why? Because they are damn near on the same frequency. <CancerMan> And I don't wanna see what happens when they turn the Telex mic receiver on with those headphones on. :/ <Coma> What, no explosions? <CancerMan> Eh. AV hardware dosn't tend to exp... Eh... Actually, wireless mics don't tend to explode. <Coma> I'm sure they can be made to explode... with a little help <CancerMan> Yeah. <CancerMan> We had a Sanyo projector that didn't have the little sheild that most bulbs do... so when the bulb exploded, it would not only embed some nice peices of gl*** into the diffuser, but it would also eject debris (hot gl***, etc) out the cooling fan next to the bulb. <CancerMan> ...and it was a ceiling mount projector. <Coma> Ouch <Coma> Which of course sparked a torrent of lawsuits aginst sanyo <CancerMan> No. <CancerMan> At least not from us. <CancerMan> On the other hand, they have been pretty consistent lately about having the little peice of gl***. :D <CancerMan> http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095253/
