<0> 512 to 1gig makes a huge difference. I <3 it. an memory is so cheap now. You can get 2gigs of 2-3-2-5 DDR400 for only about $180, $150 if you can find a rebate.
<1> Mennonite: http://misc.kjonigsen.net/
<1> there.
<2> Ceru: I had 1 snag... my existing stick of 512 was CAS2.5 latency... I was lucky as the shop only had 1 stick of CAS2.5 left
<1> Mennonite: but I was wrong about gangrape. that was japanese
<0> Ouch
<3> Jostnie: LOL
<4> Jostein: hehe
<0> Well, it's easy enough to find online these days?
<2> I don't order parts online anymore
<1> I -think- the chinese language was defined by men :P
<5> heh, today's Dilbert
<1> K_F: I love the wildcard DNS btw :P
<4> :)
<6> hi all.

<7> bueno
<6> anyone else having trouble resolving .com domains right now?
<7> anyone here ever use cygwin linux?? Talk about an unholy union of linux and windows..
<1> AnOgre: I actually like it
<1> AnOgre: It means I can do -some- halfdecent scripting in windows
<7> Jostein: as do I, how else am I gonna run bind9 on windows.. lol
<7> I just visited a .com site with no problem..
<7> er.. "revenue sharing program"
<1> AnOgre: google adsense
<8> heh
<7> ahh, well that makes sense.. but, still lol
<9> hrmm? Where's his site?
<1> Viking667: yourblog.in iirc
<8> hah -> http://bash.org/?629240
<9> I haven't done much with WP yet, looking to see how it behaves in straight mode to start with.
<1> Viking667: K_F has been hacking that thing like -crazy-
<1> schitzo: heh
<1> Viking667: but believe me... you dont want to see the scripting action behind it. one word: dirty :P
<8> I thought all PHP apps were like that
<1> schitzo: these are the bash additions from hell
<9> Jostein: err, that's a front page. where's K_F's?
<8> Jostein: for WP?
<1> Viking667: he just left
<9> *sigh*
<8> I thought WP was all PHP and not any bash stuff.
<1> schitzo: yeah. for vhost support and stuff like that
<10> nah, not fallen asleep yet
<10> closing in on it though
<1> heh
<8> Jostein: ick. I'm glad I don't do that then.
<9> K_F-: what's your blog addy then?
<10> http://dev.kfwebs.net/yourblogstat.txt <- the bash script in question
<10> Viking667: yourblog.in , the blogging community is hosted by wordpress
<10> or rather, hosted _on_ wordpress
<9> err, that's a front page. where's YOUR blog?
<10> http://www.kristianfiskerstrand.com is one
<10> but that isn't what I've been hacking
<9> ah huh.
<11> are we going to have to BEAT it out of you?
<9> lets look?
<10> Viking667: look at?
<11> answer the ****ing question before I start doing rubber-hose crypto on you!
<9> <yell> tell us the one you've been h4ck1ng</yell>
<10> <10> Viking667: yourblog.in , the blogging community is hosted by wordpress
<9> bah.
<10> http://kristian.doesnotgetlaid.com would be one of the blogs
<11> K_F-: that's a front page...where is YOUR ****ING BLOG?
<10> that is one of the things I've added , the multi-domain support
<9> smsie: I think he's trying to say he's hacking the domain pages.
<11> ah
<10> as well as the google adsense thingie and a captcha
<11> why didn't he just ****ing SAY THAT then? :)
<9> he DID - three times, damnit.
<10> and integrated a per-blog statistics based on webalizer
<9> so. You've hacked wp so it does multiple domain support.
<10> well it is based on WPMU
<10> but yes, the multiple domain thingie was mine
<9> "mu"?

<10> multi user
<10> mu.wordpress.org
<10> it is currently in development so requires some work to even get it running properly :)
<8> mu... one greater than mt
<10> but it start to get stable enough now
<10> I'm having fun with it anyways
<9> ah huh. Just as well I only need a single-user's version, which I've got.
<10> I take pride in being able to register and have a new domain running in less than 2 minutes
<10> shows a little of its flexibility at this point :)
<9> ah huh. what's the workload like?
<10> Viking667: I am my own domain registar, so I only have to go through the registration wizard, point it at my nameserver, configure the zonefiles , add the domain to a PHP array and to the bash script
<9> lol. cool.
<9> I meant the work machineload.
<10> too low
<9> i.e. what's "uptime" say?
<10> 0,0,0
<9> meh. That really IS light.
<10> yeah, one of the reasons I'm doing it in the first place, I have too much server capacity
<11> you making much cash on it?
<10> it handled 15,000 visitors in a day without problems and I average on a couple hundreds
<10> smsie: not yet anyways
<7> hehe, I have a server thats been online for 14:27:23 up 223 days, 13:36, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
<10> then again it isn't untill recently I added the blog thingie, only a couple of weeks ago and most of the work has been done the past week
<10> AnOgre: the server uptime is only 51 on this one, that was when I got the new server up
<7> I can relate to excessive capacity.. lol
<8> AnOgre: really? hmmmmm.
<10> the load averages doesn't say much in themselves
<7> snicker.. should go for a downgrade I'm paying $100/mo for what I have..
<8> especially since some of the 2.6.x kernels didn't report it properly
<10> schitzo: and other bottlenecks, like bandwidth
<8> K_F-: yeah, that too. although we have a decent amount of bandwidth
<7> mine is running a 2.4.xx kernel
<8> K_F-: we have saturated NIC interfaces before though.
<10> anyways I should get some sleep, exam tomorrow
<10> Viking667: feel free to sign up and try it out if you want a personal blog
<10> you have a new one running in a couple of seconds
<9> K_F-: already have two, thanks. One's on my own local server. I can't get faster than that.
<10> ah
<10> anyways, g'night all
<9> to talk about ugly bash scripts, I've got one that builds the website...
<7> ack, still getting hit with IIS worms! logs are filled with it, geez ppl
<11> everyone is hit constantly with IIS worms. Go figure!
<7> and all it takes a a few patches..
<9> smsie: I'm not!
<12> i have a nephentes box in my dmz.
<9> You know why not? *I DON'T RUN IIS!!!* Go Figure!!
<12> 200+ malwares in a day.
<11> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-VAIO-PCG-C1VFK-Picturebook-Ultra-Portable-Laptop_W0QQitemZ8789324662QQcategoryZ177QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
<11> they really are cute
<11> I must buy one someday
<11> Viking667: you don't need to run IIS to be hit by an IIS worm
<7> I run apache, but still you get hit anyway..
<7> right
<9> smsie: hrm? define "hit"
<13> In this case, probed.
<14> smsie: WTF makes that so much better than the one I showed you earlier
<7> requests for files or scripts that only exist on IIS (standard install usually)
<15> hi, i have a suse box and a windows box behind an openbsd router, I have samba setup so i can xfer files between suse and windows, in the suse box i have a 300 fat32 drive, when i try to xfer files from windows to the fat32 drive in suse, the xfer starts going around 6mbs, but quickly drops to about 1.5mbs and the system dogs right down, can barley move the mouse till the xfer is done...anyone have any idea why this is happening? thanx
<2> networking poopyness, and SMB ****s.
<7> I second poopyness
<9> synapsis: hrm. What are the profiles of this "probe"?
<15> if i xfer files from drive to drive in the suse box, the same thing happens...slow xfer and cant even move the mouse
<13> Don't ask me, I keep my pants pulled up.
<8> well, the probes are held by aliens. then inserted into your anus.
<11> reality: it's cute
<9> *sigh*
<2> in the same box?
<15> yes
<16> freed: sounds like you need to enable UDMA
<2> that's...wierd
<2> yeah, what Rel said
