<0> Tron: get in line already :P
<1> that copuld explain; just seems more 'widespread' that this channel
<1> lol
<2> syko-: You need to learn how to ask Smart Questions. It's as simple as that.
<2> syko- : Please go to http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html , and pay careful attention to the suggestions there. It'll improve your chances of getting a useful answer.
<3> aaah, w00t. My first jnlp (java webstart application) is a succes :-)
<2> Perhaps even reading our channel FAQ, which is mentione on this channel's /topic, would also help.
<2> Lion-O: Congrats
<3> well, not that hard.. Just add another mime-type to Apache, create an xml file (.jnlp) with the right components and you're home free. Still.. I'm happy.
<0> Lion-O: w00t0
<1> hahaha ****ing irc
<2> You just knew it was going to reach the kickban stage.
<0> indeed
<3> Tron: yo, good to see you again.. Are you ready for work upcoming week or are you still in the recover stadium ?
<2> Lion-O: Just about fully recovered. I'm on the last of the penicillin, and the dressings have come off for good.
<3> Tron: aaah, I'm glad to hear that. So getting ready for the normal day again, good.

<4> heh
<5> Tron: GP said no to the surgery then?
<5> pfeh. i need an 80x80x15 fan
<2> D-side: I need to make an appointment to see the GP next Wednesday. I also received a letter from the hospital I originally attended for an appointment with the day care surgery unit, now I suspect that they're admitting me for surgery but I'll have to find that out, and also talk with my GP to see if surgery is necessary.
<5> good luck.
<5> seems like its been hell.
<3> Tron: same from me. hope it works out.
<2> D-side: Well It's basically healed but whether I need to get something cut out now or not remains to be seen.
<2> Lion-O: Thanks
<0> Tron: indeed. good luck to you
<2> CHeers
<2> Boy that BSG episode 14 torrent is _popular_
<2> 10180 peers in swarm
<5> is that the latest?
<5> my mythtv box is down (thus the need for the odd sized fan)
<2> 2970 seeders in swarm (including myself)
<2> D-side: Aye the latest.
<5> i'd love to know where that torrent is...
<2> D-side: mininova
<5> oh okay. heh thanks.
<2> D-side: And NOT the "P" (private) torrents.
<5> good, because those **** ***.
<2> *nod*
<4> I need a quieter fan for my soon-to-be MCE box
<4> those Thermaltake ones are so expensive though
<5> usually TT = $, yeah.
<6> hello all
<0> Tron: BSG -is- poplar. I DLed it in 2 mins :P
<4> even the Zalmans are like $50
<6> is there a command I can use on a shell to make a command keep running even if my ssh connection drops?
<0> Tron: (p) torrents are good. You dont get good speed from leecher torrents
<7> D-side: a shuttle?
<1> let me try this again: is it possible, even though im a newb to *nix platforms, that the reason im having trouble compiling software is because of a proprietary OS?
<7> syko-: no. The problem is that you don't understand what you're doing.
<2> Jostein_: I disagree, judging by this BSG public torrent which took2 hours to complete.
<1> thank you.
<1> lol
<0> Tron: compared to 2 minutes? :P
<0> ok that was at my 100mbps uni box, I'll still need to DL it locally
<2> Jostein_: Here, I have apples in one hand, and oranges in the other. Let's compare them...
<0> Tron: I prefer orange juice
<7> Jostein_: 100mps = 12.5meg/second. Now. How big's it?
<2> Damn you.
<0> lol
<0> whyzzyrd: 350MBs
<8> Tron!
<2> Nanuq: Heya
<8> Tron: how goes?
<4> http://www.sprintcomputer.com/systems/parts.php?ViewPart=330040 <-- think this would be all that much quieter than the stock fan that came with my P4?
<2> Nanuq: ****ty. You?
<8> Tron: Tired, but not too bad.
<8> Tron: actually not minding vba too much, now that it's working
<2> Nanuq: I see.
<8> Tron: It's not by choice. Swear.
<2> Uhuh. ;)
<8> Tron: Choice would be Ruby/GTK+ and PostgreSQL :)
<7> Tamahome: we tend to use Zalmans where we want quiet quiet.
<7> Tamahome: Unfortunately, zalman don't appear to make Xeon heatsinks, so we got some hedgehog type things.
<4> whyzzyrd: cool.
<8> whyzzyrd: did I happen to ask if you've a pair of smallish S370 coolers?
<8> whyzzyrd: because the ones I've got are too large. short of trimming them down..

<7> Nanuq: no, and yes I do.
<3> oooh, op abuse ;)
<8> Tamahome: Recall my Asus CUR-DLS
<4> too many beers, Eric
<2> Lion-O: Well..... *shrug*
<8> Tamahome: stock heatsinks are too big. I've forced them in, but they still "rock" on the core.
<2> Lion-O: ;)
<7> Nanuq: What processors have you got on it?
<8> Tamahome: so they do a ****e job at actually doing what heatsinks are supposed to do
<8> whyzzyrd: 2x pIII 933
<3> Tron: considering your reaction I'd say you need at least another day of rest, you're not your usual bofh-ish self :)
<8> whyzzyrd: I built this system to be my King Stability, and it's the least stable because of that.
<3> Tron: that'll be $120 worth of consulting fee's
<2> Lion-O: Heh, really? I thought just /kb'ing it indiscriminantly like that WAS BOFH'ish... :P
<2> Lion-O: Put it on my tab. ;)
<3> duh ;) oh well, it was worth a try 8)
<7> Nanuq: You might have to replace the fan parts of em, but the sinks are quite wee, but slightly taller than the stock ones. I was arsing with a stock one yesterday, and I didn't like it one bit. The clamp hasn't a screwdriver slot, and they're difficult to get off.
<4> oh god I remember the fans I had on my dual C400
<4> sliced my finger more than once getting them on
<3> hmm
<9> hi, someone running ipw2200 on SuSE 9.3? Is that stable?
<8> whyzzyrd: well a pair of those would be grand
<7> Tamahome: I modded Golden orbs to fit the BP6
<8> whyzzyrd: pity as the box is rock solid otherwise
<7> Tamahome: they were wonderful to fit. Such a pity intel stopped putting thermal spreaders on the PIII
<4> whyzzyrd: yeah, I had a BP6
<8> Tamahome: btw, I know there's gonzo, but if you need dns/www/etc..
<7> Nanuq: I'd tell you how big the bases were to ensure compatability, but I can't find a measuring foo.
<4> whyzzyrd: sold it to mwilson quite some time ago
<8> whyzzyrd: just as long as it's suitable for a CUR-DLS
<7> Tamahome: The uni compsoc still runs the BP6 I built moons ago.
<7> Tamahome: I still run a dual 366.
<4> rock solid motherboard
<4> once you patched the BIOS, anyways
<7> Tamahome: The dual 366 was always grand, but the dual 433 I built wasn't at all stable until I put the golden orbs on.
<7> I remember generating a pile of alu dust in the middle of the lounge carpet in our student flat. The carpet still spangled when we moved out, 2 years later.
<4> LOL
<7> Jostein_: mislaid?
<0> nope. suddenly it wasnt showing anything
<0> stupid ati control-panel has some sort of "monitor on/off" hotkey near ctrl-f4 it seems :(
<10> meep!
<4> 'lo Derek
<10> heya sean
<10> how goes it?
<4> meh, OK... kinda tired
<4> but dinner should be ready soon, so I'll probably eat and then take a nap
<10> just being lazy here. Cooking up some chicken dinner here.
<10> trying to use shredded carrot, a hot fresno pepper, half of a tomato with some other spices
<4> blech, pepper
<10> i did put some black pepper in it ioo
<10> er-too
<7> cappicard: You cooking with "whatever was booting round the fridge"
<10> yep
<10> pretty much. I don't get paid until wednesday
<10> got alot of frozen chicken in the freezer. lol
<10> yikes... starting to smell the garlic powder. brb
<11> how do i use command date , to set time and date ?
<7> cappicard: I used to do that sorta thing when I was a student.
<11> O___O
<7> man date
<7> dammit
<11> i did
<11> haha
<7> fabio: then you are sufficiently enlighted to sod off and set the date
<11> i found it
<11> god damn this linux sux
<10> PEBKAC!
<12> hi
<13> i have a gut feeling my upstream provider is not limiting outbound international traffic.. want someone to ftp something off a box and tell me what speed he gets :) who would be so kind?
<14> Quick question for you folks. I'm trying to use wine to run a program that creates a floppy driver diskette for a RAID array in one of my PCs. Problem is that once I get to the prompt to insert a disk I say yes but there is no floppy activity. I have a symbolic link to the drive in my dosdrives directory for wine, any ideas?
