<0> happypantera: next time, please do a google search before asking. you'll save yourself lots of trouble and abuse from us.
<0> happypantera: and you'll get your answer a lot quicker =)
<1> doom3 ****ed
<2> Steakk: I like it but it's a bouncy 3D shooter as I like to call it, it's dudes running arround and shooting and thats it, not patience
<3> jgaddis: got it chief
<2> rogue spear back in 99 started a different kind of shooter... one where strategic placement, patience are in the game... and the 1 shot kill (more realistic)
<3> =)
<4> mmn
<4> delta force
<2> you know what teaches you patience? paintball... you get a few good stinging shots in the head or some other place... it's crazy, you don't want to be shot no more, so your more careful
<0> heh heh
<0> i can vouch for that
<4> airguns are HUGE here
<4> i guess one local group has a bunch of old german WW2 jeeps and armored cars still working
<4> complete with officer uniforms
<2> you move so quick and so confident at first, but the minute you get it at you in the right spot... confidence leaves, fear and patience takes over

<2> i got nailed with a paintball the first time at home when I asked my sister's boyfriend "does it hurt" no... he nailed me in the side of my waste and damn that stung bad
<5> paranoia too
<0> grrrr
<5> SSigSeg: now that would piss me off
<0> wtf? there isn't an 'rpm' option to extract the files?
<2> it pissed me off but he was bigger than me
<5> docfoo: started seeing the airsoft guns here too. probably a oxymoron too
<1> okay, thats better...just restarted my machine, and turned the game back on...at startup, it went down from 891mgs of system memory to 548mgs
<1> yeah, there is jgaddis
<1> ummm
<1> OH, use a chroot
<1> thats the work-around
<1> chroot /home/jermey/chroot
<1> then install the RPM
<0> i got it
<0> it was easier to do with cpio
<1> fine, be that way
<1> heh
<1> christ, yahoo Messenger on win32 uses 38mgs of ram
<5> well Doom3 with it's 3cd's worth of game mod programming material
<0> Steakk: gaim :P
<6> Steakk: must be on a diet
<1> jgaddis: gaim on win32 would use even more, since it has to load the gtk libraries
<0> ahhh, okay. only i.m. i use period is psi and that's only at $work
<5> was actualy 3 dvd's and not CD's worth of stuff on Doom3?
<1> XyZzY: it was 3 cds
<1> or 1 dvd
<5> so then wonder if Doom4 will be 3dvd's worth of stuff
<2> I remember first, back in 85-90 it was 1 floppy 5.25", then it wen to 2, then it went to 1 or 2 1.44s, then 3, then 5 like Tie Fighter, then the CD-ROM only using 20% of the space, then 100%, then it went to 2 then 3, and now DVDs, now in 10 years where's that gonna be? 2 or 3 DVDs?
<5> Wing commander was like 10 floppies iirc
<7> the PS2 Final Fantasy games are 2 DVDs apiece, no?
<2> I got wing commander on 5 1.44 disks
<1> my first computer game was 4 3.5" discs....and i thought that was big
<2> if you include the expansion pack that adds another 4 though
<1> it was Kings Quest IV - Perils of Rosella
<5> must have been another game that was 10 floppies then
<5> remember lemmings came on a 1.44 floppy
<2> Tie Fighter and Defenders of the Empire is 7
<1> lemmings was a good game
<1> had taht on SNES too
<5> as soon as CD's became standard I switched to buying them
<5> had Lemmings on my Amiga
<2> I could never figure Lemmings out, but I do know one thing.... they kept on coming
<1> wh00t
<1> techno mix of the Bubble Bobble song
<7> god I am so sick of that song
<1> did you ever play the game?
<2> hah!
<1> that last level is ****ing hard
<7> Steak: yeah I had it for NES
<2> yeah i got it for znesw
<1> Tamahome: same here
<1> SSigSeg: so do i :)
<2> (SNES emulator)
<8> I had an MP3 that claimed to be the Lawrence Welk Orchestra performing a medley of the music from Super Mario Bros 1
<2> Steak: you and i should connect some time and beat it
<7> Liandrin: the scary thing is, it probably was
<2> Super Offroad was my favorite of the SNES though

<1> Liandrin: haha
<2> i played with a guy I met in #roms
<7> we switched to Sega by that point... had a Genesis
<1> SSigSeg: ExciteBike for NES was one of my fav's
<2> it's ironic you mention that as I just bought a new gamepad for my PC (Sony PS style pad by logitech)
<7> I just have a USB adapter that lets me use my GameCube controller
<1> SSigSeg: I have one of those too
<1> ****in nice
<7> but I don't really play arcade games on my PC
<7> speaking of which, I have an itch to play some more Oblivion
<2> Steakk: speaking of Steak, i got a cirloin with a grey spot on it I think I better bake it up before it rots in the fridge, bought it awhile ago
<2> ~sirloin
<2> :D
<1> sirloin, dumb*** :P
<9> Steak: Doo doot doot doodle dooo... Doo doot doot doodle dooo... doodle do doodle do doodle doodle.. doodle doo doo doodoo doot.
<1> wtf...
<1> the bubble bobble theme? heh
<9> The theme song to Excite Bike!
<9> Geez!
<1> OHHH
<1> now i see(well, hear?) it
<6> heh I remember i used to love making tracks in Excite Bike
<9> I have the NES, and the game... as well as a SNES controller modified to work on a NES.
<9> AND I have the SATILITE.
<1> hell yeah
<9> jgaddis: I've used string in production. Xen might be worthwhile.
<6> CancerMan: heh I've got the rom
<0> CancerMan: *nod* A buddy of mine is doing it, and running a few "not really critical" apps in their own VMs with it.
<0> They're what I'd consider "production" apps, but they're not really "critical" -- basically the same thing I'm looking to do.
<5> man i really need to build a rip station
<9> libolt4: "Having the rom" is like having a bank note instead of the same value in gold.
<1> rofl
<1> I'd laugh if he pinged out right now
<5> Uh-Oh libolt4 unplugged? TMI
<6> CancerMan: heh well once I throw an NES emulator on mediabox I can play it on my 32inch HDTV :P
<5> Liandrin: don't that make the pixels like 3" square? :)
<9> jgaddis: Well... "deansv01" is a dual P3-400... However, I pulled the 400's from a pair of gateways, so they don't have fans on the heatsinks.. so instead of buying heatsinks, I opted to buy lesser sinks and pull the fans off, and tie them on with string.
<9> This sir, is my production print server, which has served me well for the past 2 years.
<0> Heh heh.
<0> My print server is a dual 1.13GHz Win2K3 box, I think.
<5> hm wonder if the HP LH4 with dual Xeons would work well for a burn station
<9> Eh. It's running Win2K3... I think it has 384M RAM... and like, a 40GB HDD.
<0> CancerMan: 1GB RAM, 3x18GB SCSI in RAID5, if memory serves. I never really have to touch that box, except for the monthly updates.
<0> It's vastly overpowered... or underused, however you wanna look at it.
<9> jgaddis: Yes it is. I shall trade you, sir.
<0> Heh heh.
<5> Oh that's BS. can't jog forward or backwards in mplayer useing a divx5 codec. arrgghhh
<10> sure you can
<10> the avi must be corrupt or incomplete
<9> Uh. You can if you have the whole AVI.
<10> try using -idx to temporarily rebuild it
<10> if it works then, you can re-create the index with mencoder
<9> I forward and backward in xvid codings all the time...
<10> though, the avi is somewhat incomplete if the index is gone
<5> safemode: well actually it is complete, just can't jog forward. can jog backward. it' sin a ogm
<10> ****ing Imus on cnn talking about their cancer work camp for children...errr farm
<10> then it's the ogm that's not letting you do it. perhaps mplayer's ogm demuxer is broken
<10> divx5 ...all mpeg4 codecs, are seekable, using the divx5 codec or ffmpeg's
<10> or xvidcore etc
<5> nope -idx don't work for this .ogm
<10> that's because idx is for avi's
<5> figured - gave it a try though
<5> well I could probably recode to something else, but not worth the effort
<5> CancerMan: think it's the divx5 that's giving it a hairball
<10> the ogm is borked, use mencoder and make it into an avi. ogg multimedia files aren't well supported
<10> mencoder -ovc copy -oac copy -o test.avi and see if it is seekable
<10> then you'll know if it's divx5 or ogg demuxer
<0> Anyone else ever have an issue of apt-get connects to security.debian.org timing out?
