<0> there is a way to do with your xserver? right? <1> lazlo: If it's on the same network, XDMCP. If it's on a different network, I recommend FreeNX. <0> im goign to try with those too <2> Kataki: any reason not to use NX on the local netowrk? <1> wlfshmn: Only if you want to save locl network bandwidth. <3> I used "iptables -I INPUT -s 192.168.1.239 -j DROP" to block a certain computer from using the internet, but that computer seems to be accessing the internet just fine... why didn't the iptables comand work? <4> it would seem that the packages in Debian are losing quality pretty rapidly. <1> wlfshmn: It's too horrible to set up just for local access, IMO. <4> joerod: because INPUT doesn't do anything with forwarded data. RTFM. <5> does linux not recognise $asc ? <1> wlfshmn: Unless of course you have one machine already set up on the local netowrk with nx server, then all you need to do on other machines on that network is install nxclient. <6> Sobh_, what? <3> Lion-O: what you suggest the command should be? <4> joerod: www.iptables.org, I suggest you RTFM so you know what you're doing. <3> yea.. thanks... <4> xlibs / xlibs-data. Try to upgrade xlibs and it'll barf because it needs xlibs-data resulting in both xlibs/xlibs-data + some depending utilities get marked "delete". But if you select xlibs-data first and then xlibs nothing is wrong... Sounds like a haywired dependency issue to me, whenever I try to upgrade a library I get a whole different response for its -dev counterpart.
<1> wlfshmn: NX is brilliant, even remotely accessed over slower links. <4> Silly thing is that this worked flawlessly before.. Oh well, like I said; its losing quality rapidly. But what do you expect; we get filled up with idiots who try to do stuff without bothering to read up on what they're doing. <4> dejavu: I don't recall asking you to msg me, nor msg flood me. <1> Lion-O: Could merely be a transient period when some packge's dependencies haven't yet been upgraded repository-side. I get that, usually wait a few hours and the probem has been sorted. You talking about Sid? <4> Kataki: aye.. Well, I doubt that since this is fully aimed at the dependency between xlibs & xlibs-data. So if xlibs-data isn't up to date the box will de-select both packages. <7> Kataki: big NX proponent now that you've conquered it, eh? <1> D-side: Indeed. <1> D-side: it definitely is worth the effort. <1> Lion-O: Wait a while. ;) And stop bleating about Unstable. :P <7> I can't think of a compelling reason to go through that effort for my uses though. All the machines I'd want to connect remotely are windows, and internally i have no need for X between machines. <4> Kataki: hmmm ;) <1> D-side: Winduhs weenie. :P <7> Though the recent buzz about OpenVZ makes me wonder what the differences are between it and xen. <7> Kataki: I had a choice. Try to get linux on the laptop until the laptop met the wall at high velocity, or **** it up and deal with windows on it. :) <1> D-side: What lappy? <1> OpenVZ? <7> Kataki: its apparently the core of Virtuozzo <1> Virtuozzo ? <7> You're where I was an hour ago. heh. after i recover from this choking fit i'll look more. afk, dying <1> I'll Google for it later - I have just majorly upgrdaded my dual-athlon, need to restart Xorg, but need to reboot into 2.6.15-1-k7-smp beforehand, recompile the nvidia drivers, recompile the vmware drivers, etc etc... <2> Kataki: is there a windows based nx-client, or nx-plugin for the cygwin x-server? <1> wlfshmn: I believe there is - you get the client from the NoMachine website. THe client is free, the server is not, which is why I went for FreeNX. <7> http://www.swsoft.com/en/products/virtuozzo/ <7> hit that when you've got a moment. <1> Can't browse the web till I reboot. <2> Kataki: and the free nomachines client works with freenx server? <7> whenever. <1> wlfshmn: Yep. <2> Kataki: sounds worth testing to see if it ****s less than my curren vnc setup for accessing my torrents ;) <1> wlfshmn: Precisely what i use NX for too. ;) <8> yay, MS is shipping my 360 back. Anyone wanna wager on it it'll break again? <1> wlfshmn: VNC will look ancient and primitive if you get NX up and running properly :) <7> Falchion: I'm sure you'll break it again. <8> D-side: _I_ didn't break ****, damnit. <2> Kataki: sounds like a nice little tool then ;) <1> wlfshmn: Oh it is. ;) <1> Anyways - reboot time. Latahs. <2> Kataki: later <7> good luck. <4> amazing, we got a new op? <4> and no one ever told me ;) <7> it was supposed to be a surprise. <7> oh and.. SURPRISE! <5> whos the new guy we shall trust? <7> Who told you you could participate in this conversation? <5> why you should act like a bitch? <7> I'm in a bad mood, but I'm enjoying the ride. <7> oh REALLY? <7> Lion-O: bah! <9> YARLY <4> he he he ;) <7> Shadur: NOWAY <4> D-side: my mood is even fouler, beware ;) <7> Lion-O: theres no reason we can't make this work for each other. :) <7> I point, you shoot. Something like that. heh. <8> ... Each of your nicks has a 4 letter word, a dash and a single letter and you are both in foul moods. Hmmmm. <7> paravirtualization vs "true" virtualization. <4> anyway, the scoot is all patched up, lights are working. Time for me to jet before I don't make to the meet. <7> geek meet?
<4> D-side: nah, customer meet <5> anyone know portaone? <7> oh, poo. try to make the best of it. <4> D-side: gonna sell some security services if i'm lucky. <7> I should really be elbow deep in customer vpns, but i'm just being lazy. <7> Lion-O: well get to it! <7> hm. on paper this looks better than xen. <7> Falchion: i'm bored. amuse me. <8> D-side: go add to my stoopidme site. <7> your whowhat? <8> stoopidme.org <2> ey, Fal <8> heya <7> I take it back. Its a piece of crap. <8> D-side: ? <8> Take what back? <10> the HP 620LX palmtop computer I bought back in 1998 was $750.. i just bought the model above it, the HP 660LX (at the time) for $12.16 on ebay <7> Falchion: my comment about OpenVZ <8> oh <7> Comet: the CE thing? <10> yea <7> got a url? <10> there's a crappy pic <10> http://www.ixbt.com/pda/pda-describ/hp/picts/hp-600lx-p01.jpg <10> but it was damn sweet at the time.. one of the first color screened HPC's/PDAs <10> the 660LX was retailing for $999 back in 98.. 620LX was $799 <10> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5853021128&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 <11> guys, who's under debian linux? <10> the auction that i won <7> Comet: gotcha. sticking linux on it? :) <10> i'm gonna try like hell <10> there's a team that was working on a little distro <10> i don't know if they ever got it booting or not <10> shouldn't be too hard.. runs a RISC processor.. <7> tiny lil cpu though. <9> Aeternal: Just ask an actual question. <10> indeed.. the 620LX i had back in the day only had 16 megs of ram.. and you had to split up the ram for when you run applications, AND use it as storage <10> the 660LX comes with a whopping 32megs of ram. god only knows <11> MO are megaoctets? <8> So a user is having a loopback issue and I tell him to follow our article to fix it (http://www.dyndns.com/support/kb/archives/loopback_connections.html). He writes back that he followed it and he still reaches his router's configuration page... He had copied and pasted the hosts file example. Shmuck. <8> What a great way to start the morning. <12> Meh. Finally figured out my issues with Firefox 1.5. I had the option "only load images from the originating website" checked. In the last major version, that was a limit-by-domain. In 1.5, it limits by subdomain, as well. <2> ThomasM: That would so utterly break every forum I visit ;) <12> wlfshmn: Yep. It breaks all Yahoo store pages, as well, where they load most images off of yimg.com <12> In fact, that ****ing feature wasn't working at all in 1.04, as those images used to load fine. Bitches. <13> hi there <2> ThomasM: I find adblock to do it's work nicely though, so I don't need those features <13> can someone help me? <12> Antartida: Doubtful. <9> Antartida: Maybe if you ask an actual question. <12> Dumb*** quotient of 2 and rising. <13> i have some problems, con dns reverse lookup <9> Antartida, please go to http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html and pay careful attention to the suggestions there. It'll improve your chances of getting a useful answer. <8> Antartida: http://mentalhealth.org <12> wlfshmn: adblock from http://adblock.mozdev.org or something else? <13> i received a mail that says " No Reverse Hostname ***ociated with your IP address." <2> ThomasM: the one from the extentison section, but of a version from the forums to fix flash <2> Falchion: You around? <9> Antartida: I don't have 5 minutes for you, and if you /msg me again I'll take five seconds to boot your *** out of the channel. <7> Antartida: so you'll have to have reverse dns setup. contact your isp. <13> jajaja <7> you're very clearly not doing it yourself. <9> Antartida: Also, you should use your ISP's mail server for outgoing mail. <10> Antartida: ask Falchion ;) he knows a lot about DNS <2> Comet: He seems to be at work, getting paid to support DNS ;) <14> wlfshmn: I'm sure Antartida is willing to pay :P <13> ohoh emm i have my server, with my static ip... how can i know if i have reverse hostaname...? <7> Antartida: you clearly dont if you're getting that error message. like i said before, call your isp. <13> realy i received 2 posibilities. the other messaje says that probably i "Your IP has been blocked because of spam issues or because your ISP <13> indicates that it is dynamically ***igned <13> then, i dont know, what is my problem <8> Antartida: Having problem sending mail?
