<0> anyone familiar with this vxworks error: MGCP_TRANS_DeleteNodeFromTransContext():Delete Transaction Failed ipaddr <1> google might be <2> wtf.. my inbox i empty.. <3> no pr0n <2> dogbert2: no -work- <4> wlf <1> wlfshmn: I can fill it up if you want <2> Sunblade: I'm sure something will come along. ;) <2> Sunblade: atleast 2.5h of my day is covered in meetings <1> meetings bah <2> first hour is a status meeting for a group which albeit I'm part of it, I do no work in it yet <1> you know accounting software ****s ***, at least this crap does, to install this pos I need to uncheck "do no safe encrypted pages on disk" in ie, does that make sense ? <2> other 1.5h is status for a group I -do- do work in. 20m or so will affect me, the rest probably not, but I need to sit off the time anyway <1> I always try to avoid meetings or keep it as short as possible, it can be tiresome <2> Sunblade: me too. imagine my joy when the manager of the group I don't do work in scheduled a daily 15 minute status meting..
<1> some people make a hobby of meeting <5> wlfshmn: No work, huh? You can have some of mine: 79 pending tasks <2> Demonen: I only had about 15, and all are pending verification of fixes <2> Demonen: I'm attacking my rather short todo-list at the moment.. <2> Demonen: the first one beeing an analysis of a component that will probably result in me having to implement a custom DES-like algorithm for encrypting p***words.. <5> wlfshmn: have fun :P <5> Our enduser All-in-one troubleshooter is sick today. <2> Demonen: it means I'll be elbow deap in a win32 c++ component that hasn't been touched in a decade <2> Demonen: hehe, so if I call HP and bitch enough to get to 3rd-line, I can bother -you- ;) <5> Oh joy, I get to answer "When I press a button the action I want does not happen?"-type mail. <5> No, you can't :P <5> I'm not in the phone department. <2> meh! <5> Kept smashing phones, so I'm in email. <2> Demonen: btw, I spent several hours trying to register a carepack the other day.. your product lables, and the websites and variou tools' use of p/n and s/n is awfully inconsistent ;) <5> Yeah, it all sort of ****s. You should just call. <5> The whole website is being replaced. <2> Demonen: I would have, excep tit was the weekend ,) <2> Demonen: what got me most was the fact that me entering an invalid product code resulted in a form telling me the s/n was wrong ;) <2> anyway, it worked in the end <5> Yeah, it's all very WTFish (thedailywtf-like) in the backend. <5> All outsourced code is being re-written in-house now, I think. <2> now I don't expect to have to bitch again until $diety forbid we actually have to use said agreement <2> Demonen: hehe, nice ;) <2> I still need ot call someone and check if one is actually allowed to touch a machine without voiding anything seriously <5> What kind of computer is it? <2> buisness pc, microatx <5> Heh. <2> dc5700 I think it was called <5> Touching it, and a screwdriver, within 5 minutes of eachoter voids the warranty for that computer and the next three you buy :P <2> Demonen: figured as much ,) <5> (not quite that strict, but close) <2> hey, it's that strange asian kid again.. <6> Evenin' <4> Tron! <6> Oh that's right, all clam up once I appear... oh hello Nanuq ;) <4> Tron: busy for once ;) <6> Nanuq: heheh <4> Tron: updating crap on nirvana <4> Tron: finally transitioning everything over to /opt <6> Nanuq: I see. Welp, just had another boring day in japan. <4> Tron: cool. I bet even the boring days are more exciting. <6> Nanuq: Er.... no. <6> Nanuq: We're in a state of limbo at the moment, staying for a few weeks at my wife's folk's place in hitachi, waiting for our stuff to get to the mountain cottage. <4> Tron: So that's how the countryside is going for you? <6> Nanuq: And I'm terminally bored. <6> Nanuq: haven't moved to the countryside yet. <2> Tron: Do what we all do when bored. Code! <4> Tron: Hrm.. you've always been in cities? <6> Nanuq: I really don't like staying with X or Y's parents for more than 4 days, then I fell like reaching for the axe. ;) <2> Tron: You are in japan, there should be a geographical affinity for coding cool stuff <4> wlfshmn: No, that's .fi. <2> meh, .fi hasn't coded anything fun in ages <2> Tron: That isn't a reason not to do it. It's a reason to renew your l33t skills <2> Tron: You can always justify it as broadening your repetoir in preparation for jobhunting, if anyone asks ;) <6> wlfshmn: Ironically enough, even if I wanted to code right now I couldn't, because there's all these boring family things to do, and since my 5 year old son isn't off to scholl every day he's pining constantly for attention. <4> Tron: city? <2> Tron: ah, yeah, I could see that as a distraction <2> Tron: I suppose a cage is out of the question? ;)
<6> Nanuq: Sorry, I have been living in a village-type environment for about 20-25 years before going to London. <6> wlfshmn: *grin* <4> Tron: Oh okay. <6> Nanuq: In fact, in Scotland, the place(s) where i used to live are quite similar to where we're moving to. <4> Tron: When it comes to cities, Ottawa isn't exactly considered big. It's growing, but it's not big. <4> Tron: I've never been to Toronto, but when you start seeing highways with a ****load of lanes.. that's a big city. <2> Nanuq: I always considered ottawa a large city.. must be because I've never really visited it <2> in fact, I've spent less than 20 minutes total on canadian soil ;) <4> wlfshmn: it's a million only if you're really generous, and include Gatineau across the river <4> wlfshmn: otherwise it's about 750K <6> wlfshmn: Sometimes, I can see what the benefits of having stayed single would have been. Not nice thoughts considering my current circumstances, but thoughts that do pop into my head once in a while. ;) <2> Tron: well, life is certainly -simpler- ;) <4> Tron: I was hoping to see how your transition went. I could do with a bit of ruralisation, methinks. <6> wlfshmn: **** yes. <6> Nanuq: The house we're going to move to is basically just around the corner from the main town, so we're not going to be cut off from civilisation. <2> Nanuq: I fear that if you move out of the city, you will be the crazy old man in the cottage that keep mailing bombs to people around the country <6> Nanuq: I mean, 10 minutes walk around the mountain and you're in the town. <4> Tron: I'm eyeing little squirty places with a population < 600 <4> wlfshmn: Why would you think that? <4> wlfshmn: You're the one establishing a Canadian army base, one eBay purchase at a time. <4> Tron: More curious. <2> Nanuq: yeah.. they really do need to put C7s up on ebay. damn ebay policy ;) <4> Tron: Like, why would someone think I'd do such a thing? <6> Nanuq: NFI. I didn't say it, *points immediately to wlfshmn B) <4> I'm not half as nuts as I'd like to be. <2> Nanuq: You appear to be reclusive now. Moving to a small town doesn't sound like it would ***ist <4> wlfshmn: Would seem more appropriate. <6> wlfshmn: My weight is on a downward trend since moving here, btw ;) <4> Tron: Fish and rice? ;) <2> Tron: hehe ;) <4> Tron: So much for Atkins. :) <4> Tron: Yes yes I know, deja vu. You're not following that these days. <2> "IT-systems role in successfull implementation of ITIL and SOX-compiant change control." <2> dear god what drivvel <4> I bet it's because Tron has yet to locate the liquor store. <6> Nanuq: Actually, no, it's just that the eating method (chopsticks and little plates of various foddstuffs and you pick at each one at a time) means you actually give yourself a chance of feeling full up, rather than the western way of eating which is piling evrything onto one plate and gorging on it. <4> Tron: Do we think it's as simple as that? <6> Nanuq: I think so. <4> Tron: It makes sense. <6> Nanuq: I'm probably eating aout 30% less now than i did when i was in ondon. <4> Tron: 30 minute lunch breaks at $work, and in school it was 15 minutes and they all shuffled you outside. <4> Tron: So one learns to eat what one has, as quickly as one can. <4> Tron: Makes sense. <6> Nanuq: Aye, plus, also what i said above. Especially in the UK, we pile big wads of food onto one plate and eat so quickly that you don't give yourself a chance to feel full up. <4> Tron: McD's drivethrus.. you've got a gigacalorie in your lap, and you want to get rid of that distraction ASAP. <6> Nanuq: precisely. <6> Plus here, the unhealthy snacks are all packaging and a tiny morsel inside. :) <4> Tron: So itty bitty plates where you dish it out one at a time, more or less.. or some foods you ***emble yourself.. <6> So you buy what ooks to you like a BIG packet of Pocky, and inside are about 3 sticks of the stuff. ;) <4> Tron: Heh, it's like a logic test. If you can open it, you can have it. <4> Tron: I'm thinking about getting back on that whole weight loss wagon. At least I've not been gaining. :P <4> Tron: What I need to do is get off my *** once in a while. <2> I've been gaining.. I'm fatter than ever at the moment I'm afriad <4> Tron: Anyway, if you think .uk is bad for piling, .us seems pretty bad, and what I've seen here, .ca isn't far off. <6> Nanuq: Nah, you're given a little bowl, say, of rice, then in the center there's a plate containing beef teriyaki, and beside it another plate containing large lettuce leaves. You would in that case take a lettuce leaf, then take a slice of beef teriyaki, then wrap the beef up in the leaf and eat it. Then you'ld pick out a mouthfull of rice from the bowl. Then you'ld take a sip of miso soup. Repeat. Rinse. After a while you begin to feel your appetite sa <4> Tron: cut off.. "feel your appetite sa" <7> "sa..."? <6> sated. <4> sa va, merci. <7> ah <6> So as I said, you actually give your stomach a chance to say "enough! No more!". <4> Tron: that, or the sheer tedium of it all.. ;) <6> In Britain you'ld pile your plate up with your own supply of beef teriyaki, with a lare splodge of rice beside it, and a big wodge of lettuce, and you'ld gobble it all up before you knew what hit your tastebuds. <6> Nanuq: it works anyways ;) <4> Tron: Plus feel obliged to consume it all. <6> Nanuq: Yep. <4> Tron: Because there are starving kids in the world, don't ya know. <6> Indeed. <4> With irresponsible parents. <8> hrmm <8> I wonder how much a PC tech earns an hour <6> Tsunami: Depends on the country and the currency and the particular type of "PC tech".
