<0> no...actually i was thinking more along the lines of "How do I install a Thomson THG520 in RedHat?"
<1> K_F: yeah, you would. I don't think she takes goats though.
<2> K_F: aye, some romanian women are hot
<0> on usb i meen
<3> oh wait... lemme guess, for you the answer is,"especially if she's tubgirl!"
<4> roasted0at: that is the consider part, the conditions are important
<0> i'm from romania and don't even go there
<4> Viking667: hehe
<4> ancarius: go where?
<0> they look good but they have a black hole for a brain
<4> that true for many romanians, male or female
<1> ancarius: that's a USB DSL modem, isn't it?
<4> and hey, who cares for a wham-bam-thankyou-man
<1> ... or router
<0> ok...so if anyone thinks they can help with my usb modem problem drop me a PM
<0> pls

<0> yes it is
<4> you just ensured nobody will help you
<4> ... probably
<0> most people here are about 30y in the past
<3> ancarius: I've seen a couple usb adsl modems which are, simply put, not supported unless someone's written an ndiswrapper type program for them.
<4> I'd just get an ethernet based router
<1> I must be lucky - I have a Thompson 330
<0> and besides that we have "manele" a retarded gener of music if you can call it that....i think it's the root of all problems here
<3> K_F: That's a nice thing to say unless your ISP insists on providing a USB ADSL modem only.
<5> no idea why usb dsl modems can't be operated with just like some sort of ethernet over usb device
<6> Viking667: speedtouch? thats what I use here too
<4> roasted0at: well, thats why I chose an ISP that doesn't..
<5> then again, i got no idea why usb dsl modems dont have an ethernet port that can be used instead of usb
<1> And frankly if I don't get the motherboard upgrade soon, I don't know if the thompson will be useful over 1.1
<0> roasted0at: well...the manual said it's supported by linux
<1> safemode: because that'd require extra circuitry?
<5> if it has an ethernet port, then that's how it would be supported by linux
<6> http://speedtouch.sourceforge.net/
<5> most have both
<0> but the damn thing won't even identify it or even nudge when i plug it in
<3> ancarius: if it's in the manual then there shouldn't be a problem. enable your USB and google for the drivers.
<1> heh heh. Mine doesn't.
<5> mine does, i'll sell you it
<1> I'd LIKE mine to be ethernet, but for free, I wasn't complaining.
<5> can't be used with active phone lines
<1> safemode: can't oblige, much as I'd love to.
<4> I currently have three internet providers, they all use ethernet based routers
<1> (a) I've no credit card (and wouldn't use one anyhow), (b) I've no idea whether it's Telepermitted., and (c) how would you get it OVER to New Zealand.
<6> K_F: there is a different sort of router?
<4> DaveHowe: well, ethernet connection instead of USB then
<0> and after i enable the USB? what do i do then? (i'm a noob so...it's to be expected)
<4> DaveHowe: but agreed, the use of the word is wrong
<0> i can't say anything couse the provider automaticly identifies it as either ethernet or USB and i'm about 3 months over due with paiment so i can't call them up and tell them to switch it
<0> where's everybody gone to?
<7> Iowa
<1> <click><click>
<6> nah, nobody deserves that
<1> Night, DaveHowe
<8> oot@w00t [/home/dewez]# pico
<8> bash: /usr/bin/pico: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
<8> root@w00t [/home/dewez]#
<8> what would casue that error?
<1> diggle: err, you tried a ppc binary on an Intel platform?
<8> no
<1> okay. What CPU do you have, what distro?
<8> it was working.
<8> until i removed a user.
<8> with cpanel.
<1> hrm. Cpanel.
<1> You didn't tell me what distro you're on.
<8> its a rh based system
<1> Which ONE??
<8> fedro core 4
<1> Right. NOW we're GETTING somewhere.
<8> okie...
<8> sorry...
<8> about this :/
<9> cpanel is ****
<1> What would happen if you were to reinstall the pico package? (or pine, for that matter)?
<8> i cant /

<1> What exactly *is* cpanel, anyhow? A non-web form of webmin or something?
<8> nothing works
<8> Viking667 correct.
<1> diggle: er... define "nothing works" more clearly. What are you doing that doesn't work?
<9> Viking667: cpanel is a front end for web based hosting.
<1> ah
<9> Viking667: usually used for administrating websites but sometimes also more. Its a POS though.
<1> not quite like gnuhh then
<4> Lion-O: I like it in combination with WHM
<1> ....which reminds me. I've got to go change a vhost's root dir.
<9> diggle: is this your box? How did you manage to install cpanel yet can't seem to do something as easy as removing a user on the commandline?
<4> not to mention isn't cpanel proprietary anyways, so you have support for it?
<1> with Fedora? Hah!
<8> yea
<10> hmm.. ****. my turtle got clotted eyes.
<5> there should be knoppix, debian, and ubuntu ...as main dists.. then add in your niche dists for various appliances and applications. Just kill off all the redhat based dists and the world would be a better place
<4> I have mandriva on some client systems, working rather nicely
<5> i can get Microsoft ***oraholeintheground working nicely too, doesn't mean it should be
<8> DEWEZ: root@w00t [/home/dewez]# uptime
<8> bash: /usr/bin/uptime: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
<5> sounds like you ****ed up your system nicely
<5> my suggestion, dont reboot
<4> that _is_ a nice ****up
<5> actually, no
<5> do reboot, use an install cd to copy /lib over to your root fs
<5> since it's unlikely you have static /bin /sbin to use to copy new ones over in your current root fs
<5> everything in a post install system is usually shared
<5> and next time, dont remove ld
<11> LOL!!!
<9> diggle: Why don't you check out http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html ? Maybe you'll learn how to ask more meaningful questions...
<9> just repeating the error without even giving the slightest information isn't very helping.
<10> hmm seems the turtle will need a veterinary.. =/
<5> what kind of turtle?
<10> safemode: an indian turtle. (water=~
<10> safemode: I moved the aquarium.. must have been the draft since it was nearer to a window. =( quite ****y.
<5> indian turtle? like from india or is that the actual name?
<5> always should have a water heater and heat lamp
<10> safemode: well.. in german it's called "indianer turtle" not from india but indian from north america ;)
<10> it does.. still it might have been because of the draft.
<5> what's it's symptoms?
<4> g'night
<10> night K_F
<10> safemode: gluey eyes.. it's not able to open 'em. hardly at least.
<12> CeruleanD: I've been told to tell you that Ooo Calc & Gnumeric will both probably be just fine
<7> Russ!
<5> yoz: did you splash the eyes ...sometimes they get crusted shut
<5> from sun bathing too much
<5> and sleeping out of the water
<10> safemode: I did try.. warm water and all
<5> hrm.. well then i'd take him to the doctor... that ****s.
<10> safemode: they seem to be swollen as well.
<10> ****y.. thing.. it's saturday tomorrow.
<12> heya Eric
<12> Nanuq: I'm becoming a VoIP junkie
<7> rhowe: oh yeah? I was chatting with Kim via Skype. Pretty decent.
<12> Nanuq: Oh, forget that proprietary nonsense. I'm talking SIP here :)
<7> rhowe: Oh yeah.
<7> rhowe: need one of those cisco phones ;0
<7> er ;)
<7> rhowe: just the idea of a phone with an ip address. ipv6 even!
<12> Nanuq: Or a software 'phone
<13> Nanuq, I have those phones ;)
<7> fredk_: any for sale? ;)
<13> Nanuq, no ;)
<13> got 4 7970's
<7> fredk_: how are they?
<13> no sip support though, atleast not that I can figure out
<13> they work fine with asterisk
<12> Nanuq: e.g. ekiga, linphone, X-Lite, snom's, etc
<14> Oh cool, thanks Rhowe
<14> Unfortunately I ran into a snag with the secure software that my Lexar USB JumpDrive uses to access the Secure partition. The Public partition shows up just fine, but when I tried running the software to access the secure side, it won't let me access it. Tells me the partition format is unreadable and not only do I not gain access to the secure partition, I lose access to the public one.
