<0> mike2_: I'd have to go and look at what all I have. comics, news, motorcycle stuff, gun stuff, etc. etc.
<0> kosmo: nice jpg
<0> mike2_: flickrbooty was one that was just added
<1> heh
<2> mike2_: reading that thing and 200 other things at the moment :P
<0> I have *so* got to do that images in the file thing
<3> whyzzyrd!
<4> Dear Meryl Lee,
<4> Wow, this last year went fast! Already we are getting setup to send hopefully two more over.
<4> First off I'll say I'm against ghost writing, given we are going to have a hard time deciding if a piece was ghost written but Conrad seems to have a good nose for sniffing out people that might be using outside sources.
<4> woops!
<3> woops indeed
<3> docfu: You're still banned though, sshh :)
<5> oooh, ban evasion ;)
<4> hhaha
<6> Hrm. How is it that he got in still?

<1> schitzo: we've done "images in the DB" before, images in a file just struck me as a little... perverse.
<5> RIGHT. time to play more Starcraft and get some Zerg powahs going. It is dated, but I really think the storyline and extensions are neatly done. I'd definitly buy a StarCraft re-visited with, say, the C&C Generals engine.
<4> Lion-o you need to play total annihilation :)
<0> mike2_: yeah I've done the DB thing. but uuencoding it into a file is just not right.
<4> heh WOW
<4> rinbosha: no, no. she wants to work, to make money for me.
<4> ^^^ comment from my friend who married some girl from cambodia he doesn't even know
<7> .... Erm.
<4> Shadur er make that non-friend :)
<4> Shadur ever keep someone around for their entertainment value? (like me)
<7> Lion-O: Yeah, starcraft looks pretty original and cool unless you've heard of Warhammer 40,000
<4> Shadur how is the game of that?
<7> docfu: Dawn of War and Winter ***ault are both utterly kick***.
<8> i'll bet it doesn't take 2 hours to set up and 3 hours to play like the tabletop version of the game ;)
<5> Shadur: aha... Never heard of that one, I'll keep that in mind.
<0> Cynic: there are games that aren't on the computer or console?
<5> Shadur: it doesn't play in the middle ages, does it ?
<7> Lion-O: They also have far more recent graphics.
<8> schitzo: yes, for when the power runs out
<7> Lion-O: The 40K is a reference to the year.
<5> Shadur: let me google this 8)
<5> Shadur: Just asking because I recall playing a demo game of the same type where you needed to make a village, cut wood, etc, etc. It was fun but I didn't like it in the longer run.
<8> Lion-O: there's a similiar game called Warhammer Fantasy Battle (probably has computer game versions too) but it's nowhere near as good
<9> Lion-O: not AoE?
<7> Lion-O: That was Warcraft.
<5> Shadur: aaah, yes, thats it.
<5> Shadur: hmm, this looks pretty intruiging indeed.
<7> Which was also made by Blizzard and was the predecessor for starcraft.
<5> nice screenshots too
<10> like i said yesterday, starcraft is only fun if everyone playing ****s at it
<10> Blizzard really took anything that made that game fun, and threw it down the drain
<8> safemode: i enjoy ****ing against my friends who get ~70APM easily and absolutely obliterate me, so it works the other way around too..
<10> I hope blizzard finally goes bankrupt and dies ...and everyone in the management positions goes broke and has to live in a van down by the river
<5> anyway, grabbing the warhammer demo.
<7> Lion-O: Also, a squad of marines, properly entrenched and with heavy bolters, laughs at the Ork equivalent of zerg rush tactics.
<9> Bah. What's so great about SC anyhow?
<4> lion-o let me know if its multiplayer
<4> i'll play you in the demo
<7> Viking667: The way millions of dweebs and kiddies embraced its simplicity.
<7> docfu: The game is multiplayer. Dunno about the demo, though.
<8> hah, touche
<9> Shadur: *sigh*. I've never been able to play the game, as I don't have the graphics or the CPU grunt.
<4> er
<4> you can't play starcraft!?
<7> Viking667: ... For starcraft? Dude, a P200 can handle that.
<8> docfu: think he's talking about 40K ;)
<4> :)
<9> No. Was talking SC. I don't have a Vidcard that has 16MB vidmem.
<4> SC doesn't need 16mb
<4> its software
<9> I'm lucky that the Voodoo2 runs quake3
<9> docfu: uh? That's not what I was told...
<7> Viking667: SC doesn't have 3d.
<4> boy
<9> oh.
<8> Viking667: c'mon man, if it can do quake3 it can run like 100 copies of SC simultaneously ;)
<4> somebody ****ing yanked your chain!
<2> mike2_: pthats quite bad as well (what do you mean its VBA based?) :P
<9> err, just how "modern" is it?
<10> and wine plays starcraft just fine

<8> Viking667: '96 i think
<4> Shadur you've played total annihilation right?
<9> ouch. I have been mistaken.
<4> Viking ever play it with UTASP and the huge 80x80 maps?
<9> sorrp - I SAW TA.
<10> it's a bit more complicated than TA. but it easily falls into an unbeatable formula that is _strictly_ dependent on how fast you can execute the formula
<7> docfu: Hell yea.
<9> A friend of mine had TA on his comp, I've never seen it in shops since.
<4> i have a 400mb version with UTASP and a ton of big maps
<4> maybe I should bring them to japan with me
<1> Jostein: the bit about the flat shapes scares the hell out of me, it'd be like a twisted digital minefield
<9> Which reminds me - I must see if Quake3 even plays under XP with just the Trident.
<7> What I really, really like about DoW is that they did away with the stupid mining resources to build and train units in the field thing.
<4> DOW?
<4> oh right
<7> Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
<4> yeah, Ground control I and II were awesome
<4> no resources, just drop your units in and fight
<2> mike2_: indeed. Im glad I havent ever touched a demon summoned project from hell like that ever :P
<7> Instead of minerals and gas or whatever, you have requisition points, which you generate at a certain rate. The only way to increase that rate is to capture and hold strategic points on the map.
<4> Shadur thats just like GCII
<2> mike2_: granted, I do work on old, messed up, spaghetti, multigeneration patched asp :P
<7> docfu: Yeah. I haven't checked whether DoW or GC2 was first with the idea, but I really like it either way.
<4> Shadur actually, Star wars Force Commander had it first, but it ****ed ***
<7> Just like every star wars strategy game so far. :)
<11> hello all
<4> face it, whatever lucas had was gone by 1984
<11> when I login via ssh to my redhat server
<11> as root, when I use the command edit
<11> it doesn't work
<11> any comment?
<7> MTW--: Stop abusing your enter key. Also, "it doesn't work" is the most useless error report possible.
<11> -bash: pico: command not found
<4> Shadur ever play machines?
<7> MTW--: Did you install pico on that system?
<2> *sniff*
<7> docfu: Wazza?
<11> Shadur: ok
<4> Shadur its basically total annihilion on a p200 with cute 3d robots
<11> Shadur: I'm not sure, it's just a new dedicated server from ev1servers.net
<4> (using 3d graphics)
<12> grife... is it just me or XFS is really really lazy at writing back data?
<11> Shadur: how I can check it?
<12> (not metadata)
<7> MTW--: I suggest you ask them, then.
<7> MTW--: If you have to ask that kind of question, you're not qualified to administer a linux system.
<11> :))
<11> I know but...
<11> I would like to learn
<11> I'm a newbie
<7> Lion-O: Also, the best reason why DoW is Superior to starcraft:
<13> profit that runs freenode http://freenode.net/pdpc_donations.shtml | Flooding or trolling? You can make a difference, start now! R
<7> If you play space marines, your force commander can order orbtal plasma bombardments.
<2> MTW--: then why not installl linux on a homemachine?
<3> Should've kicked him all the way to lfn
<2> MTW--: fiddle around with it there. might even get a few neato manuals
<11> :(
<14> MTW--: try nano then. nano is better than pico anyway
<7> MTW--: Stop abusing your gorram enter key.
<11> RelDrgn: ok ..thank u
<3> heh, amusing piece from a guy on the London LUG mailing list
<14> MTW--: dammit, spell correctly and quit hitting enter every three words
<3> He went along to the UK education conference/fair (BETT) and started asking about open source and IT contracts
<11> RelDrgn: nano worked! thank u...
<4> Shadur have you played Metal Fatigue?
<7> Nope.
<9> I tried - comp didn't like it, crashed on the demo.
<3> He was told that schools are being instructed to seek exclusive, all-encomp***ing 10 to 15 year contracts, and that the company who supplies the contract has to do building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, computer hardware, computer software and everything else"
<4> thats another cool old game, take command and conquer, remove most of the weird units, add in some giant customizable robots and off you go
<3> So when asked what he'd need to do if he wanted to provide IT services to UK schools, he was told that he'd need to find a builder to cover the other stuff he'd need to do
<4> its like watching action figures fight
<1> rhowe: lame
