<0> SATAn and FreeBSD (old logo)
<1> h8me: you are freaking insane.
<2> SATA & C64!!!?!?!?!
<3> Jostein: what are you trying to do with active directory?
<2> prometheus: authentication basicly
<2> prometheus: I hate having to maintain users across multiple boxes
<4> Jostein: Centralize that ****
<5> i wANT sata oN mY aMIGA d00dz!!!111
<2> reality: I do have a Win2003 server running and I intend to keep it.
<4> Bah
<0> AD.. bah
<5> h8me: please go bother #freebsd
<4> I think you canuse NFS authentication with win2003
<5> h8me: you are in the wrong channel

<0> Jostein: what's AD for?
<0> Jostein: I mean, what do you use it for?
<2> user authentication. I want to be able to maintain users, groups and stuff like that -one- place. not at multiple boxes
<6> **** AD and winblows
<6> and especially **** ISA SERVER
<2> and when I have AD allready, it'd be neat to get that working together
<2> tavi-san: *grin*
<7> winblows > *
<4> Jostein: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/interopmigration/unix/sfu/nfsauth.mspx Try that ****
<8> tavi-san, you won't help yourself by holding back about how you really feel about the issue :)
<2> reality: cool!
<2> reality: Guess Ill try out SFU instead of samba then
<5> stfu?
<0> Jostein: My initial thought of seeing AD is that it's not a useful part of a home network enviroment... though i now reconsider that when you said that last part..
<4> Ka-bar: Services for Unix
<2> Bjprn-: useful? I dunno. not really. But its a challenge, and I like challenges.
<2> Bjprn-: plus, like I said, it'd be neat
<3> Jostein: I'll tell you the easiest way, though it's not really the most ideal method.
<2> prometheus: Im listening
<3> Jostein: Install "Services For Unix" on your Windows servers.
<6> haha
<6> do that!!!!
<0> Jostein: some NIS derivate is prob more challenging than that.. pretty easy to setup AD (given reading some book, as i did).
<3> Jostein: It's basically NIS and NFS daemons for Windows, but then you can configure your *nix boxes to use NIS for auth.
<4> prometheus: That's the link I just sent him
<3> And use NFS to mount their home directories as well.
<2> prometheus: sounds pretty straightforward. no need for kerberos or samba or stuff like that?
<4> prometheus: Scroll up about 5 minutes...
<3> Jostein: Nope, just NIS (and NFS if you want it)
<3> reality: Heh, I just happened to flip back over to this desktop and seen him talking about AD. GMTA. =)
<2> prometheus: guess Ill try that next time I bother doing anything with the setup :P
<2> Oh well... I guess Ill take the sane advice and do things the easy (if not entirely proper) way. thkanks prometheus & reality
<9> Hello. I am attempting to install Gentoo from "install-hppa-universal-2006.0.iso". The machine boots and continues to heartbeat the diagnostic panel. I am pretty sure it is starting X into a mode which my monitor does not support. Is there a general way to tell the Gentoo installer to run text only, or am I pretty well fz0rked?
<4> "They call it PMS because Mad Cow Disease was already taken."
<3> reality: haha
<6> http://www.realultimatepower.net/index4.htm i still find this extremely funny
<10> did you work with csync2 ?
<6> holy ****!!!!
<6> AAAARGHHHHH
<11> kurva.
<12> CancerMan: what, you're kidding?
<10> LIBGNUTLS headers files don't match whats that
<9> D-Side: Why would I be kidding?
<13> imbeciles..
<9> D-Side; My monitor only supports HPPA text mode because of the cybex X2200 between the computer and the console.
<13> anyways, the installation instruction describes not to use X
<9> K_F: Are you talking to me?
<14> How do I add an account in Samba (debian)
<13> CancerMan: the regular gentoo install doesn't use an "installer" at all though
<13> you just untar some files here and there and uses emerge to get what you want
<13> just as it should be..

<4> deriaN: Read the samba how-to
<14> Where ;S
<4> deriaN: Google
<15> deriaN: samba users normally map to unix users directly. Unless you've done something special for authentication, create a user then use smbp***wd to set its samba p***word (be sure to set its unix p***word too)
<15> bah
<14> it says unkown command when i type "smbp***wd"
<13> Read my text... R-T-F-M
<4> deriaN: Great. Even more reason to read the samba HOW-TO
<15> deriaN: then you're doing something wrong, like having samba installed improperly. Read the directions
<12> K_F: you're right about the installer, but it might be doing nasty framebuffer things his box doesnt like.
<12> CancerMan: doesnt the cd give you boot options?
<13> D-side: yeah, fairly easy to tell it not to use the installer
<12> K_F: on x86.
<12> can you say the same for HPPA arch? I've never used it, so I don't know.
<13> as long as it doesn't kernel panick it wouldn't matter
<13> the option just doesn't execute X
<12> maybe it does matter. perhaps on that arch you can't specify boot options and you're stuck with what you get.
<12> CancerMan: outside of temporarily directly connecting the k/v/m, dunno.
<9> D-side: The CD does not appear to give me boot options, other than interaction with the IPL.
<9> D-side: I have actually pulled out the card cage and ripped out the video card to give the kernel the hint, then booted from serial console with simmilar results.
<12> the same problem with a serial console?
<12> well not "the same"
<12> but thats just a problem i can't help you solve.
<9> The serial console stops at ~`copying some read-write crap to tmpfs` and never talks again, but still responds to keyboard entry by sending it back.
<16> who wats this nick ?:D:P
<12> CancerMan: hm. check the gentoo site for the addresses of the hppa dev team. mail one directly.
<12> theres 6 of them. :)
<16> who want this nick mandriva ?:D:P helllo
<12> oh I DO!
<12> what must I do to get it?!

<16> lol why ban me?:)
<12> Arr matey

<12> i have to agree, thats quite revolting. :)
