Comments:

<0> Hence why I no longer keep kosher.
<1> Falchion: You are jewish?
<2> How about grape juice and wine?
<0> wlfshmn: Yep
<2> Would that be economics?
<1> Falchion: he, I wouldn't have guessed
<3> pork carries trichinosis, which causes disease if the meat is not cooked properly
<0> wlfshmn: :)
<1> Liandrin: except in those of us that have been exposed to them often enough to be virtually immune ;)
<1> Liandrin: improperly cooked pork or chicken make my digestive track speed up a little, but thats it...
<3> wlfshmn, tract
<1> ah, ok, tract then
<0> wlfshmn: Until you get tape worms :)
<3> or salmonella
<1> Falchion: Never gotten a tape work either, nor samonella. .se is rather low on the salmonella side. we are always taught to be wary of danish chicken for that reason ;)

<1> s/work/worm/
<0> heh
<2> hrm, so it was to be an H2O2 device, was it?
<4> slightly funnier if you spell it correctly :)
<5> DaveHowe, I prefer humming ;)
<5> details
<6> would formatting with reiserfs in a 2.4 kernel and then switching to a 2.6 kernel normally cause a kernel panic with reason of being unable to sync with the hard drive?
<4> IceOwl: no
<2> DaveHowe: no, you couldn't meant "the works on $artist"
<2> er, of
<6> hmm..
<7> IceOwl: sure. If the 2.6 kernel doesn't have reiserfs support.
<6> it has reiserfs support
<7> IceOwl: embedded or as module?
<6> I wonder what I'm doing wrong, then :/
<6> embedded
<6> I make as much of my kernel embedded as possible
<5> DaveHowe, I got like 5 or so dedicated clients using debian, every single one of them has ****ed up their box.
<7> IceOwl: so you pressed M during the configuration?
<6> bwah?
<6> no.
<7> IceOwl: good, just double checking.
<2> Lion-O: hit 'n' instead
<4> fredk: impressive. ****ing up debian usually takes effort :)
<6> just because I don't know what I did wrong doesn't mean I'm idiot :P
<2> IceOwl: how about the versions?
<5> DaveHowe, you would think, I think what they do is wanna be leet and compile a custom bleeding edge kernel
<7> IceOwl: for me its guilty until proven otherwise. Nothing personal but seen too many examples in here.
<2> fredk: I do that, mine is still kickin'
<5> Nanuq, they forget drivers and **** ;)
<2> fredk: that'd do it
<7> IceOwl: anyway, 2.4 to 2.6 shouldn't be an issue but Nanuq also makes a valid point. You might want to check the version which your filesystem tools (and kernel) can handle.
<5> Nanuq, I havent had a single centos user **** up their box.. I got like 40 of them. Debian users have ****ed up every single box haha
<2> Lion-O: I meant Reiser v3 vs v4.
<2> Lion-O: I dunno, I haven't used either.
<7> Nanuq: *nod*
<8> i want to connect to my other computer with my current computer...how do i do that?
<5> not saying that centos is better, but debian takes slightly more clue.
<6> nanuq: yeah, I'm looking at the ReiserFS page now and realizing that :/
<7> AvDen6: depends.
<7> AvDen6: you could use a network card.
<6> well, I guess I should have gone with ext3 :/
<8> i have a wireless router
<4> AvDen6: give both internet accounts? connect with a null-modem cable and run slip?
<2> IceOwl: or JFS
<5> Lion-O, pidgeons work too
<7> fredk: indeed.
<8> i'm a beginner...so i don't follow here to well
<6> which means.. I guess it's time to reinstall AGAIN
<6> grrrr
<7> reinstall?
<6> yep
<5> Lion-O, how about this, printer, and barcode reader? :P
<7> a bit drastic IMO
<8> both have internet accounts
<6> if I ever want to upgrade my kernel
<7> IceOwl: nonsense. just do it right.
<6> well, you tell me then

<2> Lion-O: nah, I'd say Reiser is rubbish
<7> IceOwl: why upgrade btw? When things work don't **** with it. Only upgrade if your distribution presents you with updates.
<7> Nanuq: I agree. I dislike it with a p***ion too.
<6> things don't work
<7> IceOwl: what is it which doesn't work ?
<2> Lion-O: I don't have specifics, other than I know it has has a shakey past
<8> DaveHowe: can i msg you?
<6> my sound card, a bunch of USB stuff.. uh.. probably a bunch of other things I don't remember at the moment
<4> AvDen6: no
<2> Lion-O: My first of the alternate filesystems was JFS, because it was first in the vanilla kernels.
<7> IceOwl: which distribution is this?
<6> Slackware 10
<2> Lion-O: I've never had a problem personally, so I recommend either ext3 or JFS.
<8> davehowe: do i ftp to the local address?
<7> IceOwl: ROFL
<6> ??
<7> IceOwl: get a real distribution and then we'll talk again.
<6> **** you
<7> IceOwl: sure, bite the hand which feeds you
<2> I never had a problem with XFS for the brief time I used it, but I don't consider it suitable as a general purpose filesystem.
<6> you've been no help
<7> IceOwl: act like a true idiot.. I'm saying that it is VERY likely that your POS distro is the cause of your problems.
<2> IceOwl: My turn then: get a real distro.
<7> Slackware doesn't check dependencies on packages, it doesn't install security/bugfix patches and it can't be decently maintained. Upgrading in Slackware isn't upgrading: basicly you're tearing apart your system by removing software after which you try to fix things by installing newer versions of the stuff you removed. Whatever crap breaks during that process will always remain a mystery untill the **** starts hitting the fan.
<6> **** all y'all
<6> I like Slackware
<2> We don't. Cope.
<7> IceOwl: you like lackware. It doesn't work but you like it. typical.
<6> I don't care if slackware doesn't do any of that, I don't want it to
<7> IceOwl: you do now.
<2> IceOwl: You wanna know something?
<6> Lion-O: did I say that?
<2> IceOwl: Back in 1998 I was like you, I liked Slackware.
<2> IceOwl: Then I discovered Debian. Oh, it was a field of daisies from then on.
<7> IceOwl: yes. your 2.4 kernel doesn't work with your sound, usb, etc. And upgrading to 2.6 doesn't work for you.
<6> Nanuq: no, not really, given the comments I'm getting, but i"m sure you'll tell me anyways
<4> AvDen6: both machines should have an ip address from the wireless router - use "ifconfig" to tell you what it is
<6> Lion-O: I didn't say I wanted a package management system to do it for me
<2> Tamahome: You recall!
<4> AvDen6: then use ssh to connect from one to the other
<7> IceOwl: then don't use it. Real distributions give you a choice. lackware doesn't.
<9> Lion-O: IceOwl LIKES torture apparently
<6> well, I guess you're all ****ing morons
<8> ok
<4> slackware (well, literally zipslack) was the first linux I tried
<7> but hey, I can see where this cluelessness is going and I'm not going to waste my time over it.
<2> Hey, Ottawa.
<7> w00t
<4> but that was back when it was one of the few distros in existence
<2> Should personally deliver a Debian CD
<2> DaveHowe: I recall Slackware 3.4, I believe.
<2> DaveHowe: the one on the May 1996 InfoMagic set
<7> And as such this IceOwl re-confirms my ***umptions about sympatico.ca users.
<4> can't recall which one it was for me.
<2> DaveHowe: I later tried Redhat 3.0.3.. packages were sorta cool, but there was something about Slackware..
<2> DaveHowe: Eventually I moved to Caldera OpenLinux.. my first 2.0 kernel ;)
<4> Nanuq: the distro now known as SCO? :)
<6> I guess you're all too stupid to figure things out on your own, and just wait for a package to land in your lap
<6> go automation!
<4> oh look. the moron returned
<2> IceOwl: If I weren't so lazy, I'd hand-deliver a Debian CD
<7> IceOwl: not really
<8> DaveHowe: when i connect (ssh), to the box with it's local address, the connection times out. i'm using putty
<7> IceOwl: I also know whats wrong with your box. You didn't bother to read /usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes.
<6> Lion-O: no? apparently that's what's wrong with my choice.
<6> I did
<4> AvDen6: and the linux box is running sshd?
<7> IceOwl: then follow it.
<6> you're awfully quick to ***ume a lot of things
<2> heh
<2> Lion-O: It's for his own good.
<4> hey cheeksy
