<1> db2, do tell :)
<1> what's it regarding?
<2> nice /quit msg :D
<5> Does NV have an elected judiciary?
<1> Kansas doesnt... bloody idiots think they run the financies on public schools...
<6> a corrupt elected judiciary...
<1> and our damn governor is going along for the ride...
<5> Ugh
<5> Elected judiciaries are so bad.
<6> well, our court here seems to obey the constitution when it's in their own self interest...we had a ballot issue scheduled for Nov. which would have limited state spending (problem is, the copy on file is different by ONE word, as to the copy circulated)...thus the court tossed it out...
<1> db2, that is ridiculous!
<5> That may be frustrating but you gotta be exact when it comes to legal fillings.
<6> this is the same supreme court which ruled that a 2/3rds legislative supermajority amendment to our constitution will be overriden when it comes to public school funding
<1> i can understand if one sentence was added or changed or omitted...
<7> how do you transform a .tex to a pdf ?
<1> db2, wtf!
<6> NDP...hardly, since our court routinely violates the constitution...i'll give you an example...
<1> and I thought Kansas was bad...
<5> One great thing about the US is the fact that we have 50 different states
<5> And each state more or less runs things their own way.
<5> So after a while you can see which states are doing things right and which ones are doing them wrong.
<4> oele: errr, might have to do it in 2 steps, but I bet you can xform the .tex to a .ps, and from there, distill the .ps to a .pdf
<1> NDPTAL85, and if you live in a multi-state metro area, you can have more fun :D
<5> cappicard: lol
<7> cappicard: how do I go to .ps ?
<5> Man I need some breaffis
<6> in the mid 90's...we managed to qualify a petition which would have applied term limits to every elected official in the state (including judges)...it p***ed by 75% in '94, in 1995, the court ordered that the ballot question be split into 2 parts (which violated the constitution), since ballot questions p***ed in ONE election must be submitted in the same form in the NEXT election...the vote on term limiting judges failed (what a surprise)
<2> Tamahome: as for okui masami... any albums in particular I should check out?
<4> Jostein: Ma-KING, Do-CAN...
<2> thanks
<4> Jostein: I have Ma-KING on CD and can rip it if you want
<1> NDPTAL85, i live in kansas and work in missouri...
<2> Tamahome: that'd be nice :)
<4> OK, wait 'till I get home and I can do that
<5> cappicard: Man. Thats amazing.
<1> hmm... sebelius is a fool in kansas and blunt is well... bluntly an idiot in missour...
<6> also, when a former governor ran for a 2nd term in office, he did so with the ***istance of the supreme court when it decided that it was ok that he had served one full term + 1/2 of another governor's term of office + 4 additional days (again, in violation of the constitution)...

<1> NDPTAL85, not really. I live and work in kansas city
<5> lol
<6> <--- managed to give the chief justice an earful yesterday
<4> mum made me scrambled eggs and toast this morning
<5> dogbert2: Why hasn't anyone taken this further to the US Supreme Court?
<4> My parents took me out for birthday dinner last night
<1> if I'm still living in kansas in november, I will not vote for sebelius...
<6> NDP...no authority to do so...plus a recent expose in the LA times about questionable judicial practices in Nevada makes it even worse
<1> Sean, sweet. happy b-day a day late. :)
<4> Derek: actually it was Wednesday :)
<1> ah. :)
<4> first week of September is always psycho for us though
<5> dogbert2: IMO there's not much you can do about your judiciary until you convert to an appointed one.
<5> Elected judiciaries are so corrupt. It turns the judges into politicians.
<7> that would consolidate judicial power firmly into the hands of the ruling party
<1> NDPTAL85, on the other hand you got Kansas... damn idiots aren't accountable for theri decisions...
<5> The fact that a judge has to campaign for office is repugnant.
<8> No, they're lifetime jurists.
<5> oelewapperke: Not exactly. Its not like all the judges die and must be replaced at the same time.
<5> TenBaseT: In which state?
<6> NDP...South Dakota this fall will be voting on stripping immunity from judges is quite an issue, and colorado is voting on term limiting it's judges
<8> kansas
<5> So judges are elected for life in Kansas?
<8> just like federal judges. thats the way it should be.
<6> KS has lifetime judges (that's horse****)
<8> No, it's proper
<1> those idiots suspended public schools just because the legislature didn't come out with a budget large enough for schools... HTF does the sumpreme court know anything about public finances?!!
<8> Judges need to be insulated from the partisan bull****.
<6> TBT, what do you do with corrupt judges (and don't tell me those ****ers aren't corrupt)
<7> NDPTAL85: what's then to prevent, say, the democratic party from saying "if you rule that I must pay my rent, you're not getting elected next year"
<8> They dont know anything about public schools, cap.
<5> Well if its lifetime I guess it doesn't matter whether their elected or appointed.
<1> tbt, my point exactly!
<7> NDPTAL85: it would effectively place judicial power in the parties
<6> TBT, cause the judges are dumber than dog poop
<5> oelewapperke: What?
<8> cappicard: they know the law says the schools arent allowed to operate with a budget. Thats all they need to know
<5> I don't understand your scenario
<8> dogbert2: you impeach them.
<1> which that law is loads of manure
<8> cappicard: then complain to the guys who p***ed it, not the poor judges who just point out that it exists.
<5> No federal official is immune as is. Not even a Supreme Court Justice. They can all be impeached.
<6> TBT...bwhahahah...give me a break, a state legislature doesn't have the ****ing balls to impeach anybody
<5> dogbert2: Then elect a legislature who does.
<8> dogbert2: once again, the problem is your legistlature then, not the judiciary
<7> NDPTAL85: why would the ruling party follow the law if they control the judges ?
<7> or worse, what's to prevent the ruling party from using their party's judges to rule that they've won the next election ?
<5> oelewapperke: 1. Because of separation of powers. As you can see now with our federal governement just because one party controls two or even three branches of government it doesn't mean one rubber stamps what the other does. 2. An election would have to be close for a court to have to pick the winner. If its a landslide they won't even be involved.
<6> pfft...do you have any idea HOW hard it is to impeach a elected official in a state (the fact that it happens once in a blue moon should tell you)
<5> Congress (or any state legislature) doesn't like being the whipping boy of the President or (state Govenor) and the courts will always protect their own turf.
<8> The impeachment process is a trial. that requires evidence.
<2> dogbert2: its easy. just plant a cheap slut in office
<6> TBT, there is plenty of evidence, they just choose to IGNORE it...
<5> Having *** isn't an impeachable offense. ;-)
<2> dogbert2: I mean... starting illegitemate wars aint reason for impeachment, but blowjobs sure are
<7> NDPTAL85: they would become involved the second someone files a complaint
<7> so basically ... party loses elections ... still has judges in term ... so
<7> they
<7> 1) file a complaint
<7> 2) have their judges in office rule in their favor
<7> 3) start their next term
<5> lol
<5> He's kinda nutty
<4> 4) there is no step 4?
<5> 4) Profit!
<4> heheheheh
<8> cappicard: I firmly believe that judges should not run for office. I think they should be completely divorced from partisan politics. Furthermore, I dont think partisan people should be made judges at all.
<1> Jostein, what started that whole thing with clinton was whitewater and then it morphed into Willy getting his willie licked...
<2> 4) m***ive depts and all rejoices
<2> cappicard: heh
<8> politicizing the judiciary only results in idiot partisan judges.
<9> why was I banned that quickly ?
<4> it's a bot
<4> it kicks for flooding
