<0> Lion-O: I'll consider it. <1> and undernut splits again. <2> surprise. :D <3> bah, undernet bugged out on me while I was busy elsewhere <1> DaveHowe: so either pay attention or use a really stable network :) <3> Lion-O: I was busy physically elsewhere. hard to pay attention to a screen several hundred meters away.. <1> DaveHowe: so work on your psychic powers a little harder. <3> Lion-O: and I would use a more stable network, but then I would miss y'all's rapier wit :) <1> hehe <1> oh well. time for another upgrade. <3> as opposed to the religious bull****ting currently happening over in nekko... <4> it's been going for some time now <4> religious/political debates have a large half life :P <5> re <4> hello OldMonk :) <1> Hi OldMonk
<5> hi twonkbat, Lion-O <6> <5> ey me ayudas con mi shell <1> English <7> hello. i need some help with the iptables. anyone here available ? <5> maybe if you ask a specific question? <8> hmm, the smell of bacon cooking =-) <7> i have 2 pc in here. one with fedora core 4 and 1 win xp <7> on linux box i have 2 NICs <7> i want to route the existing conection from the linux box to the win xp machine <7> i'm newbie to linux <5> newibis: www.iptables.org has a howto specifically for this. 4 commands or something. <7> i think that I need a good iptables example <8> heh <9> heya Fred, Phil <1> eya whitecap <10> waves~ <11> newibis: havr you tried looking at the documentation? <12> unix shields :) <1> penguin flavored in freshly squezed lemon sauce 8) <10> yyay already lesson3 ahs arrived <1> s/squezed/squeezed # errr, I hope. Lemme dict this <1> amazing <8> OldMonk: hiya <13> hm... this is odd.. when I leave my 2nd monitor unplugged from my DVI port, but my 1st into my SVGA port, the ati binary driver works fine. But when I leave the dvi monitor plugged in, both monitors go out of sync... <5> hi whitecap <9> Derek: are they driven independantly? <14> Hmm, united has some really ****ed up seat configs <13> they're both connected to the same video card <13> http://home.kc.rr.com/cappicard/xorg.conf is my current setup <8> cappicard: my r128 does that whe i have composite out and vga both plugged in. it's trying to drive both and the xconfig doesn't have sections for both <14> http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/United_Airlines/United_Airlines_Boeing_777-200_D.php <-- like seat 48E that has to be the most evil **** <9> Derek: what I meant is, is the default likely to be in 'mirrored' mode, or what? <13> yes, it's defaulting to mirrored <13> the ati and radeon drivers work fine in mirrored mode <13> but fglrx does not <9> 'lo wlfy <5> wlfshmn <15> bah you lot, I've been in here for ages, I just didn't auth until now ;) <9> LOL <5> yeah, that's why we couldn't see you <15> I even wrote something in the channel uhm.. just six or so hours ago <9> only 6? <5> since you weren't cloaked, and you didn't mis-spell it, no one guessed it was really you. <9> hahahahahah <3> mmm beefsteak and fried onion sandwiches..... <16> Hi everyone! Is any Lyx user around? <1> burp <1> DaveHowe: I already had dinner 8) <3> Lion-O: just happy I didn't have to cook it - living with becky obviously has more advantages than I thought :) <10> dave do the dishes? what next millenium? <3> might happen - did some last weekend <10> very rarley do I see u do the dishes even when i have done mine... <3> admittedly because there wasn't a clean plate, cup or fork in the house <1> rofl <1> DaveHowe: over here we usually take turns. One does the cooking, the other cleans up.
<1> DaveHowe: usually works like a charm 8) <10> Lion-O he doent really have the time to do dishes much at weekends so my jon to do mmonday to friday dishes <3> Lion-O: indeed so - however, I usually cook, and I do the washing. given I work and she doesn't, she can at least do the washing up <17> hello? <1> 32 <17> can anyone help me with something? <1> lover666: Please goto http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html, and re-read your question again. Then try asking something which *does* make more sense. <17> i have a problem installing php5 on my linux slackware : the libphp5.so is'n created <17> can anyone tell me what to do? <1> get the package from lackware itself. Or consider getting a more sane distribution. With that pos you're on your own. <17> what's wrong with slackware? <1> everything? <1> Slackware doesn't check dependencies on packages, it doesn't install security/bugfix patches and it can't be decently maintained. Upgrading in Slackware isn't upgrading: basicly you're tearing apart your system by removing software after which you try to fix things by installing newer versions of the stuff you removed. Whatever crap breaks during that process will always remain a mystery untill the **** starts hitting the fan. <17> i just thought that i would learn better the insights of linux by using this dist <1> learning isn't depending on distributions but on the person trying to learn it. <1> anyway, with lackware there can be too much b0rk stuff around which makes it a waste of time even trying to bugfix problems like these. <17> what dost do you recommend? <17> *dist <1> a sane one. www.distrowatch.org lists quite a few. <17> anyway slackware is the simplest one...it's the core of any dist... <1> ROFL <1> lover666: go be stupid somewhere else please. <3> well, strictly speaking that's true <3> slack is a collection of packages <1> DaveHowe: now don't you start as well :P <3> most distros have a sane package manager as well though <1> lack is a copy of volkerding's harddisk. <1> and is by far "the core of any distribution", lets not get into that kind of stupidity please. I am really not in the mood for it. <3> Lion-O: but it is a distro, therefore it has all the files distros have. the fact that you could also say "the kernel is the core of any distro" doesn't mean a kernel on its own is any damn good <1> DaveHowe: but the kernel *is* the core of all distributions around. <1> how the hell can some distribution be the centre of all others? <8> SLS <3> Lion-O: and a bunch of packages are the core of any distro. but almost any disto will give you more than that - even gentoo... <1> DaveHowe: thats not the point. <17> the way it's designed man <1> lover666: no its not. <3> Lion-O: well, if you read "core" as being "missing all the bits that make a distro more than just a bunch of packages" it makes more sense :) <1> DaveHowe: it doesn't <1> A basic Linux system is build from several components but those components have no ties to any distribution what so ever. <1> the fact that distributions adopted them is another issue. Anyway, like I said, not in the mood for these kind of discussions merely on some crap spouted by some cluebie. <17> i was just looking looking for a dist that has some low level access...not just pretty and friendly X applications, that's why i chose slack <1> lover666: every distribution offers that. <3> Lion-O: well apart from redhat - which will back out any low level changes you make when you reboot <3> god but I hate redhat because of that... <1> DaveHowe: unless you do them right. <1> even RH allows you to change settings on the commandline, it just approaches it differently. <13> hmm... time to upgrade my kernel... when unplugging my a670 from my usb port, I get a kernel oops in visor <17> what do you guys think of ubuntu? <17> i never treied it <17> *tried <3> its a decent installer for debian packages ;) <17> it has 1st place on distrowatch <1> depending on the list you're looking at :P <3> Mark Shuttleworth bought distrowatch now? :) <17> doesn't it support rpms <1> Nevarre: Why don't you check out http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html ? Maybe you'll learn how to ask more meaningful questions... <3> probably under alien. afaik, it is a apt-get distro <18> I need a good cd ripping tool dusing full CDDB support and possibly album art? I dont run gnome or KDE <1> Enferex: search freshmeat.net or sourceforge.org <18> ive been doing that for ages <1> Enferex: amazing, then I guess there isn't something like that available. <19> Lion-O if you put that in the topic, we wouldnt have to ask stupid questions and you wouldnt have to be such a **** <18> Its hard to find one with Album art. Banshee supports it but requires mono and gnome <3> better off scanning your own album art anyhow. donloadables tend to **** <18> ah <18> thanks <1> well, it has a faq lying around which also got ignored. So why put the smartquestions up there as well? <20> hi, I have a wierd problem: I'm trying to set up an pppoe server, the server is up, it receives and sends PAD* packets but when it goes to LCP it says in to the debug file that he sends packets but I don't see them on tcpdump going out the interface. has anyone seen this before ? http://www.nomorepasting.com/paste.php?pasteID=64996 <14> hmm, what should be considered a normal percentage of iowait? <14> for a webserver <14> annoying :)
