<0> Lion-O <1> K_F: if they let me save these ten, it will be funny to see them scramble onc eI decide to actually get a new job.. there won't be much time left for knowledge transfer.. <1> K_F: hostile attack on brokers? <2> wlfshmn: yeah, I have a couple acquaintances like that, tendered their resignation and then notice that they wouldn't be there at all before it was up due to vacation... woops <2> wlfshmn: hostile attack from the IRS <1> K_F: ah, the Auditors ;) <2> aggregated to some billion NOK in taxes <2> they haven't visited us yet, though <1> K_F: I won't be able to do quite that I suppose.. err. well, actually, now that you mention it, I could counting next years vacation <2> but we're sort of used to stricted regulations than other securities houses because of the involvement with banking <2> the house they went for first, Pareto doesn't have any banks (yet, they are working on it) <2> wlfshmn: hehe <1> K_F: in reality that means work gets to shell out cash to keep me around for knowledge transfer in that case.. <2> yeah, but that is ordinary consultant prices <3> hmm, this is a dns server with psql backend. tremendous overhead imo.
<2> ... one of my acquaintances did that too <2> but now it is all on his will :) <2> Lion-O: not necessarily <4> help. I installed a fresh Centos with X, no WM, no DE. I grabbed fluxbox and installed it and rebooted. Now when I logon I am back at the old Xterm with its failsafe WM, Twm. I cannot run fluxbox from here cause it says another wm is running. Why isn't fluxbox loading? I tried to add a .xinitrc file to my ~ with 'exec fluxbox' but it still doesnt work. Maybe it has something to do with /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc or something? <2> Lion-O: depending on where it is plugged in it can be nice <3> K_F: true I guess.. Still, I don't really like this scheme. I'd prefer bind and staics.. <1> I have about 63 days (three months) of temrination period, and I have this years 10 (after taking my required 11), plus 30 saved, plus 30 for 2007, == 70 days <2> Lion-O: yeah, I use bind myself, but my upstream provider scales pretty well <2> Lion-O: having a DB makes management quite a lot easier <3> K_F: that is true. <5> wlfshmn: thinking of quitting your job? <1> Jostein: I've been grumbeling about it for ages <1> Jostein: I'm just too lazy to actually apply for anything ;) <2> :) <1> now is probably one of the times I could leave and cause the company the least amount of harm though <2> Jostein: http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2007/02/09/491506.html <- glad I'm not depending on the airport express today <5> I just learned that BA (which I will be using) might start charging for luggage by the time I go to japan <5> up to <5> that -will- piss me off if they do <5> also daglbladet seems dead here <2> have you ordered the tickets yet? <5> long ago <5> dont you read my blog? :P <2> then they can't change the terms <1> all my major projects have been ended in release, and while they are ongoing, it's a sane responsibility for someone else to shoulder (after I wise them up to some exhcange/domino internals, and train their gag reflex out of them) <2> Jostein: yeah, it was what I thought :) <1> Jostein: say what <1> Jostein: not allow luggage on flights without extra cost? <5> wlfshmn: its not even on flight <5> checked in luggage too <5> and they are downing the luggage limit from 31kgs to 23kgs <1> well, checked luggage are on the flight ;) <5> right <5> let me see if I can dig up the article <1> Jostein: evil <5> yeah <5> http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/0208british-airways08-ON.html <2> hmm, morg.ol is stable on 290... was hoping it'd continue rising <5> morg.ol? <2> bah, I can't liquidate anyways <2> http://search.us.reuters.com/news/search.aspx?blob=morg.ol&WTmodLoc=ussrch-top-quote <5> oh. stocks <5> why didnt you say so? <5> I dont care about the stock itself :P <6> Jostein: yes, that was a threat. so was the oranje boom. <5> right <5> just checking <7> hello .. i configure screen saver to require p***word to stop, but seems that this option is not working: when I tryed to stop screen saver I don not receive any p***word dialog box .. <7> somebody could help me ? <2> in most cases it won't help a bit <2> Adrian23: I take it you're using enrypted drives? if not it is useless <8> something happened to the task bar, if i minimize an application it just disappears, i have to alt-tab to get it back <8> has anyone had a problem like this <2> Jostein: remember what we were discussing earlier today? <2> Jostein: can't be just a slow day.. <5> K_F: but we only talk when the morons arrive <5> there's no other steady talk, but there ARE a steady supply of morons <2> hehe <5> I still say a slow day <5> its a -real- slow day. not even my RSS reader has bugged me
<2> Jostein: my RSS reader never BUGS e <2> me* <5> INTERNET WAKE UP <2> but it is too damn slow, indeed <5> bah. only news I got when forcing a full update now was some random jpop news about a rtist I dont care about <5> I dont subscribe to junk feeds though <5> but I do get remarkably little mail these days <5> which is good, but today, I'm bored <2> http://ascgendotnet.jmsoftware.co.uk/ <2> of course http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9010764&source=rss_news10 is right up my alley <2> Jostein: heh, the first .cat site I've encountered real life.. <2> http://www.calcurco.cat/eccGnuPG/ <2> go Barca go.. <9> wth? .cat? <2> IceKarma: catalonian <9> yeah, I got that... more sort of aimed at "wtf do they need their own tld?" <2> (hence the go barca, the sponsoring organization is obviously in Barcelona) <2> IceKarma: why do anyone need .mobi .. <2> (answer... we don't) <9> so conversely we should have a TLD for every linguistic and ethnic group on the planet? <2> they applied for it in '04, so not like its new <2> but as I said, it is the first site I've actually encountered with it :) <5> Hope I can get a cab today <5> was impossible yesterday <2> cab? <5> taxii <2> Jostein: figured that part, but where the heck are you? hehe <10> case "$1" in <10> a) echo does something <2> sounds like a school thing, so read your textbook <10> what if i want to have a b) that wants to jump back to a), how can I achieve that? <9> doseryder, time to restructure <9> doseryder, there is no 'goto' <10> yea... i thought there might me something of that sort <10> Icekarma: so is that not possible based on the case block? <11> doseryder: do you want the two cases to do exactly the same things? <10> mod-: actually its just an example that i want to illustrate the 'goto' but in my program it points to something else <11> *sigh* <10> mod-: so, is it possible for me to jump from a) to c)? <11> doseryder: no <11> doseryder: if you want them to do exactly the same, use "a|b)". otherwise, you can always move the common code to a shell function <11> and besides, goto is a bad programming practice, and it's a good thing that the shell doesn't have it at all <2> goto isn't inheritly bad, it is just badly used by too many <10> okie, i guess shell function is what i need <10> i'll google that <2> doseryder: you know what a function is, right? <10> i'm a new to shell programming and never worked with shell functions, but i have worked with functions, methods, oop before <12> http://xkcd.com/c221.html <= BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! <12> kittykat: we don't care. <3> hmmm, only 313 domains to transfer :) <13> Deafening silence? <5> god damn salespeople <2> Jostein: now what? <2> Lion-O: slighly more than my personal portfolio :p <5> only people trying to doulble or triple book me, sending my resume out to customers <14> me plays with dynamips <3> K_F: hehe :P <5> which in turn have -their- HR depts calling me about projects I know nothing about <5> while Im already doing 2 jobs <3> K_F: enough to give me a few hours work upcoming weekend. I want to move the lot out of the psql database and into a plain bind setup. <2> Lion-O: let me recommend template files :) <3> K_F: indeed, indeed :) <13> Good thinking <13> Err
