<0> no, no reiser
<1> Steakk, saw the article about how some people resigned from day jobs and took jobs in SL instead?
<2> xfs is nice
<3> hey from where i download debian linux ?
<2> i used it on a laptopn and desktop. very scaleable
<4> vIkSiT: there are people making over $4,000 USD/mo on it
<5> SL?
<5> maxheadrm, umm, i dunno if XFS could handle 2.2TB?
<4> SL == Second Life
<0> easy
<5> that a an MMORPG?
<2> Perlboy sorry i don't have secifics but one of its supposed strengths is large files. whatever that means
<5> no
<2> i mean pecifics
<5> that's "large files"
<5> i have a bazillion small files :)

<4> I guess it could be considered an MMORPG, but more in depth
<0> XFS can deal with lots of small and large files well
<2> it also allows more inodes. i happen to know 4 gigs worth, because it creates them dynamically
<2> as needed
<3> what version i choose Viksit?
<2> and i saw a chart just the other day
<3> i386 or ia64?
<4> mpapos: what do you run? 386 or 64?
<3> so maybe that was the problem maybe?i have an amd 64
<3> is that right?
<2> 386. and the chart compared rieser and some others and it actually said that xfs can have up to 4G inodes. not space, actually that many files
<2> which was far far more than the others
<0> ben running XFS on my 3ware raid terabyte system. works fine
<3> what i should download i386 alpha or ia64?what is it anyway
<2> i used it practucakky the whole time i had a p3 fujitsu lifebook. it elimintated my disk bottleneck, so now i use it on my tyan tiger
<4> reading up on this SL thing, it is possible to build a plane, write a script for it that will cause it to fly like 2 inches above everyones head
<2> sorry i mean practically
<2> Steakk it's gambling. as long as you realise that.
<4> maxheadrm: not if you dont pay
<4> you can do everything other than owning land, as a non-paying member
<2> Steakk just remember, gambling is a disease :)
<4> its not gambling if you dont pay
<4> and I dont pay
<2> maybe not yet. it's just something to remember.
<4> 'sides that, i dont gamble
<2> people get addicted. and it sounds like the whole pirpose is to addict you
<4> i cant figure the ****in thing out, so i ain towrried
<4> aint worried*
<3> what version of linux should i choose?i386 alpha ia64??..
<4> mpapos: what do you run? 386 or 64?
<3> i dont know i have an amd 64 :)
<3> i dont know even whatis it
<2> mpapos i've heard 64 bit allows you to address more memory faster. that is the only benefit ive heard so i run my xeons in hyperthreaded mode (32 bit) but if you really really need the 64 bvit addressing thats at least one reason to go 64 bit
<4> okay, if you run an AMD 64, and you are asked if you want to use i386 or the ia64 packages, what do you think you would use?
<3> the second... ?
<2> mpapos processors are so different its best to research yours thouroughtly to make sure it doesnt have ant nasty bugs for one mode.
<3> si what i should choose ?
<6> Steakk: ia64 = isn't that intel 64bit only ... not AMD64?
<2> Steakk do you know if the amd 64 supports hyperthreading?
<2> i dont even know if it is a choice
<7> actually youd use x86_64
<7> Linux alpha.kfwebs.net 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 #5 SMP Sun Jan 29 14:37:56 CET 2006 x86_64 Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

<7> morning Clone
<16> heya K_F.
<16> lets see if I can get syslog-ng and swatch work decently together today.
<5> hmm
<5> i've hit a 2TB limit
<5> any clues on how to confuzzle the bios? :-/
<7> uhm the default filesystem on an iBook is HFS+ right?
<17> Probably
<7> yeah, I was just fuzzled that I had to mount /dev/hda and not use a partition
<7> now the problem is that it will only mount it read-only
<7> "HFS+-fs warning: Filesystem wasn not cleanly unmounted, running fsck.hfsplus is recommended. mounting read-only"
<7> problem 1) this is a live-cd that doesn't have fsck.hfsplus
<18> eep!:)
<18> FFS
<7> how to get mount to mount it read-write anyways, -o rw doesn't do it
<18> Trying to find the fine print on a promotion and the only page on the companies website tells you to go to the companies website for the fine print.
<19> morning
<18> Mornin

<7> something tell me the module was compiled read-only
