<0> i can tell you what he's NOT doing. being useful. <1> oh <2> OK, here's what is going down. I'm going to uninstall everything that I don't need using yum, then I'm going to use yum to reinstall what I know I do need <3> 'what you know' ? I'd pay attention to your package manager instead. <3> Just make sure you keep your dependencies satisfied. And if you're trying to remove a package and see that another package depends on it first move on to see if you can remove that one first. <2> It's not something I want to do, Lion. The only thing I have available to me is the shell and various comand line tools that I do know. I will keep track of the dependencies. I'm not some noob that clicks on everything. Besides, there are alot of duplicate entries listed. I think I should clean some of that up
<4> hello <5> hello <4> i need help <4> with linux <4> im new just installed the os <3> help4linux: 1) Easy on your enterkey. 2) Ask a question. <4> the SuSe edition <3> eya LLyric <4> :P sry <4> well i got a new box instaled with linux suse v 10.0 and im trying to get it online <5> i need some asistance, I want to make a syslogd server, to make all equipment on the network log on it, ive it working, but all logs saves on /var/log/messages, could annybody tellme how i configure a facility to take an ip, and save all logs on one file ? <3> help4linux: check the SuSE manual, it covers those basic issues with a step by step explenation. <4> ... <6> actually, im fairly certain that stock syslog can't do that <3> Nacho25: RTFM comes to mind, you can't select based on IP's. The moment the logs reach the logging server they will be split like any other syslog messages. The only way to split these are checking out /etc/syslogd. <7> or switching to something like syslog-ng <5> ok, so, ive to make a shellscript to take all lines on messages and put it on a file is that true? <3> Nacho25: So either you need another syslog daemon, as tojoe said syslog-ng /might/ be able to do this, or split the logs using an external parser. <5> great! <5> thanx 4 help me! <3> Speak English here <8> for, not 4
<5> ok, <5> sorry <8> and stop raping your enter key <9> wlfshmn: yes, but if you're traveling with someone of one of the two nationalities, it does sometimes make it simpler to be both the same <10> Strider-: yeah, I suppose <10> Strider-: Around these parts, you can sometimes get a second p***port if you travel between nations that don't like each other <10> Strider-: say for example that you have buisness in bot Syria and Israel... you might end up spending some rather lengthy hours trying to get past immigration in Tel Aviv <9> wlfshmn: yeah. <10> Strider-: Not to mention immigrations in Teheran with an Israeli stamp in the p***port <9> wlfshmn: heh, well, Israel usually puts their stamps on a piece of paper you jus tkeep in your p***port, rather than directly in the p***port <10> Strider-: That would help, yeah ;) <10> Strider-: although I absolutley ****ing hate those stubs the US gives us that the carrier is supposed to collect at departure.. <10> Strider-: the constantly get lost or they fail to collect them at all, and the next time I get to the US some underpaid immigrations officer looks confused and wonders how I got to that side of the counter, considering I had been in the country for the last 18 months on my 3 month visa.. <10> putting border security in the hands of minimum wage employees is a rather amusing national security decision <9> wlfshmn: heh <9> our border security folks tend to make fairly decent money. <10> Ours are police officers <10> p***port controll is ofcourse considered one of the dullest placements you can get as a cop, but atleast they are actuall police officers.. so they have three years cadet schooling before they get there ;) <9> wlfshmn: is that where you go if you foul up as a "real" officer? :) <10> Strider-: nah. but I suspect most officers get stuck on that duty for a while before ending up somehwer else <10> Strider-: I somehow don't see it as something you would want to make a career out of.. but you never know.. <9> lol heh
