<2> Guinness isn't "carbonated", per se, with CO2, like other beers. On tap, it's dispensed with nitrogen. That's what creates the really fine bubbles and the creamy head. The "widget" in the can is a small nitrogen charge with a pinhole. When you open the can and release the pressure, the nitrogen spews out of the widget, foaming the beer and getting it ready to pour.
