<0> arjun: sounds liek you installed grub on the first partition of your hdd, rather than the MBR
<1> Volure, google
<2> honey roasted
<3> yea
<4> I have been looking on google.
<3> steakk: do you know how to fix it?
<4> I want to find my config files
<0> use the install cd as a rescue CD, boot the partition you installed grub on, and rerun the installer (grub-install, iirc)
<1> Volure, looking is one thing ... did you search?
<4> not even the documentation had that info
<5> if you can't find fedora info on google you are lying and looking for a handout
<6> s/handout/kick/
<4> I have fedora
<4> I need to get a fedora manual
<3> when it says "grub>" i tyype "grub-install"?
<4> I want to know where the config files are and stuff.

<4> I have it installed man
<4> Jesus.
<4> I want to know where the config files are
<6> Volure: in /etc
<4> arent there more places then that ?
<6> Volure: /which/ config files?
<1> Volure, ALL config files are in /etc
<0> arjun: no, grub-install at the command prompt
<4> well I want to configure my network and my drivers
<4> I have a wacom tablet that used to work
<6> Volure: so why don't you say that?
<4> but I used yum to update everything in my PC
<4> and now the wacom dosnt work
<4> I also have a wifi card I want to configure
<5> then read the fedora docs and do it the way they want you to with the tools fedora provides
<4> I also want to get my kde to do what I want
<4> I also want to get certain things to initialize
<4> theres a lot of things I want to do
<7> there sure is.
<1> Volure, i think it is hight time that you know this isnt a help channel
<4> I wanted a manual of what to do with fedora
<4> fedora dosnt say much about wifi
<8> cyclic, you're making a freakin filesystem in one night? :)
<4> and nothing about wacom
<1> Volure, you'd just get kicked in here
<6> Volure: there's no single answer -- you have to RTFM for each package individually
<4> some packages dont come with man files
<3> steakk: it says "Install Device not specified"
<4> like wpa_supplicant
<9> My boss is ****in' great.
<6> Volure: then there're howtos
<4> what about the synaptics ?
<4> I have not found a howto or a manual on that
<4> and I want to configure it like it gets configured in windows
<9> I forwarded the offer to my boss and he wrote back "That's unreal Jeremy - $person told me $bignum+10K last week" and to hold out and they'd come back with a bigger offer.
<6> Volure: you're lying
<0> arjun: so, read the manual pages for it
<4> how am I lying ?
<6> later
<8> Volure, duh. just googling synaptics linux gives you a million links
<5> if i fire up my fedora machine and there is a manual for synaptics you are due for a weeklong ban
<8> the FIRST one being the linux driver for it.
<4> I got a driver
<0> my fedora box is already up
<0> what are we looking for?
<8> Steakk, see acpi and synaptics/manual
<8> :)
<4> Im looking for info on configuring it to let me use the pad to click
<4> not to click lock and not to scroll through my programs
<4> theres a lot of annoying things fedora does with the synaptics
<10> how can I get sed to kill blank lines? s/\n//g doesn't work
<8> tsokolat
<11> vIkSiT! how are you?
<4> ok is there a wifi tool for kde that does wpa ?
<12> Volure: kwifimanager
<4> kwifimanager dosnt use wpa
<4> it does wep
<10> I have a HUGE 484,000 lines list of numbers, mostly 1-3 digits...how can I add them?
<13> How can I install Solaris10's grub into my MBR? Because Linux's grub can not boot Solaris
<0> with a calculator....dumb***
<13> Damn I can't mount my Solaris partition :(

<13> It doesn't accept ufs filesystem!
<5> why should #linux care ?
<14> solaris has a penis installer?
<13> Yes, but it's already mounted inside you
<12> hmm... how to figure out by command if a IP is wifi or not...
<12> I can't allow an IP to be added to our backup server if it's not wired... lol
<12> mentesuprema: you have to rebuild your kernel to include ufs support
<14> cappicard: don't you have a range of IP's doled out via DHCP? look for DHCP reservations
<12> it's usually not included with many stock kernels
<12> XyZzY: I know which Ip range I'm doling out dhcp reservations here on my box here.
<12> but it is something I could write in (to not allow certain IPs to be added).
<12> heh, this adhoc network is working nicely for me
<12> hmm... my leases are only 10 minutes long
<12> not that it's a problem
<15> ad hoc is teh ****
<12> I have yet to figure how to setup a WAP network
<12> all I would require is another keyboard and I can use this p4 in my living room
<12> and not be stuck to my bedroom
<12> brb
<13> Woooow I've just figured out that I can jump to Linux's grub to Solaris's grub! Or can't I?
<12> hrmm... wtf would I find the refresh rates for that ADI monitor...
<12> mentesuprema: you should be able to. Just chainload to solaris's boot loader
<12> (same way to boot to Windows)
<13> Great, something like: root (hd0,2) chainloader +1 ??
<12> aye.
<12> it's rootnoverify (hd0,2)
<13> But even better I want to install Solaris's grub on my MBR in order to have just one grub
<13> But I don't know how to change it
<12> try it, if solaris's build of grub supports booting into Linux.
<12> just boot into Solaris and rerun grub-install
<13> Yes it does, Solaris can boot Linux and Windows, but Linux's grub can't boot Solaris. Then I'm going to run Solaris's grub which is in the install cd and from there run grub-install
<12> there ya go
<13> Awesome
<13> Let me try it then
<12> when you upgrade your Linux kernel, just tell make not to install grub. Just setup menu.1st in solaris' grub to point to symlink. Then in Linux, just change symlinks when you upgrade your kernel and grub will pick up just fine
<13> Oh wait, I don't know where is Solaris's kerrnel in order to add it into the grub x D and I can't mount my Solaris partition because 'mount' can not support it's file system! I've tried all possible options in man mount and -t ufs and it is possible to mount it in order to explore it's directories
<13> It is located in some place inside /platform/i86pc/kernel
<12> try going into answerbook in solaris and look for upgrading or rebuilding your kernel in there
<12> or on sun.com itself
<13> That's what I'm looking for right now
<13> Silly me that forgot to write it down before X)
<12> :)
<13> kernel /platform/i86pc/multiboot module /platform/i86pc/boot_archive
<13> Could it be all?
<13> Let's try
<12> bloody hell. can't find the refresh rates for that adi PD-695 monitor
<16> Gah! Holy netjoin.
<17> what a mess!
<12> underwearnet left tracks again?
<14> heh. glad I have that onjoin stuff off
<17> anybody knows an application to make screenshots of my desktop?
<18> cyberpunk: the gimp?
<17> ok
<17> I use import at this time...
<17> Cynic: do you know scrot?
<17> apt-cache search scrot
<18> nope. haven't really been a desktop linux user for years, i have to admit
<14> cyberpunk: there are several tools for that. one is included in X11 base apps
<17> and which one?
<17> import?
<14> google like the shadow knows
<17> I got another application, it doesen't matter...
<17> scrot works very fine...
<19> hi all
<18> hey Eric
<19> how're you, Cynic?
<18> i'm paranoid
<19> mrmmmmm...
<18> ...if this dodgy setup i've got to keep the rain off the indoor wireless unit i've got sitting outside doesn't work ;)
<18> and if the rain doesn't get it, condensation might
<20> you're trying to keep northland rain out of something thats gonna get damaged?
<18> and in any case, the wet tree right in front of it isn't helping matters
<20> you're ****ed
