<6> anyone know of an app, service, or daemon that can check if a service is running on a remote host and notify if its down?
<6> sometimes my router farks up and loses its 24->25 forwarding
<7> lobster isn't bad, but then that was considered overly expensive for what is essentially a huge shrimp :)
<6> usually i telnet host.whatever 24 to check if its running and if it doesn't respond i have to relogin to the router
<7> Elops: nagos has functions for that
<0> Elops, is it visible through SNMP?

<6> I think i'll get nahios

<2> I wonder when $former_employer is going to get smart, and cut off my company cell phone
<11> lol Steakk
<2> I still have it, its 100% active, and since I worked for Sprint/Nextel, its not like they are getting billed for it

<12> Hi guys, my / is running out of space, any idea if i can mount an additional partition to it and 'enlarge' it ? Well.... and Happy birthday reality .
<2> its not his birthday
<2> its his faux birthday
<2> yeah, thats it
<11> heh, that's how I got away with "high-speed" CompuServe dial-up for like 3 years. My dad's company called a few freebie accounts from CS for a year, but before the year was up, their rep left the company, so the accounts just... disappeared. At the time most people were either one 2400 or 9600 dialup, but CS offered 14.4kbps for $24/hr... my dad got the bill one month and it was over $1,600. :-D
<2> and I wonder why people ***ume I am homo***ual...I use words like 'faux'...
<11> Steakk: lol
<11> yeah, that'll do it
<9> c-wolf: you cannot really enlarge it, but you can simply add an extra partition and copy one of your current directories (/var, /opt, etc.) to it. Then mount it.
<9> s/copy/move/
<2> I have a hard enough time going from cable to DSL
<2> let alone cable to dialup
<2> Hell, with my speeds, its hard to go from cable to a T1
<12> Lion-O , i see, but i hered some roumors that such 'play' can be done using another filesystem, i think it was about JFS ... what do you think ?
<9> c-wolf: I think you should read up on your basics instead of relying on hear-say.
<12> s/hered/heared
<1> m00
<9> c-wolf: ever mounted something manually?
<12> Sure, but no big thing, only the usb/cdrom/etc...
<9> c-wolf: and did those things all use the same filesystem as that on your rootfs ?
<12> No.
<9> c-wolf: so why would that be different for another partition?

<3> Lion-O: magic
<12> Hehe schitzo ...
<12> Well, i think i got your point.
<2> wow, its amazing...i didnt realize my desk had this much room on it until I cleaned it off

<2> DaveHowe: haha
<13> hiz
<2> albeit, I am breaking the general purpose of having an LCD monitor by bringing to the center of the desk...there is a bunch of room behind it that is not utilized
<2> but, if I push the LCD all the way back, then I cant read it
<3> Steakk: make the fonts bigger
<2> and I am NOT making my resolution different...I need the screen real-estate
<3> Steakk: let alone you *really* don't want to see pr0n that close up anyway
<2> schitzo: I have my 27" flatscreen TV hooked up to my vid card for porn
<3> ahhh, good thinking
<10> man, i'm a bastard
<2> *nod* :)
<2> Cynic: yes, you are.

<2> CeruleanD: grep -H -n bacon `find ~/.irc_client/logs/ -iname \*.log`

<15> In windows XP we have an Microsoft Firewall Client that connects us with an ISA server 192.168.0.2 if we disable firewall client we lose email and chat but we can still browse using http proxy 192.168.1.1
<11> Nowadays I like to dice up tomatoes and ham and dash in some hot sauce.
<11> But yesterday someone, either here or in Solaris, recommended bacon so I gave it a shot and I'm so glad I did. :)
<14> blech, hot sauce
<2> danny-khi: well good for you
<16> Blech, progressive hardware failures on my winduhs HDD.

<17> need some sleep. later geeks!
<11> l8r yoz
<14> night yoz
<18> Shadur: must have a low tolerance for windows
<9> danny-khi: the only way I see is by telling the firewall to allow transparent proxying. At least thats what I can think of. No idea what more ISA supports.
<9> yoz: sleep well
