<0> anyone know a hot 20-25 year old chick in Oslo, Norway? <1> besides your ex? <0> oh, whh... 18-25 <2> K_F: lol <0> well, obviously <3> zommes: then your .tar file has been cut off. It didn't download completely or you are asking it for that file that isnt in there <4> Fred: oh, **** yeah you're right, I have to call setAttr twice <4> damn but DOM stuff is verbose <0> good timing as well, aparently she've found someone else <5> heyho <6> but i downloaded several files, like mozilla installer and similar, and its the same problem every time <5> what good program you use like putty ? <1> eric2000: who you callin' a ho? <3> Sean: I'm kind of surprised that it worked in firefox, though most param things are pretty optional <2> eric2000: that makes no sense. <5> im bored of putty
<5> i nee d a better putty like soft <5> for ssh <6> i also redownloaded them <3> whats wrong with putty? <2> eric2000: this is a Linux channel, try #windows. <7> eric2000: stfw comes to mind. <1> RelDrgn: other than being a windows program? <4> Fred: I think it caught the <embed> and fell back to Netscape-ism <0> yeah, embed is deprecated in favor of object <4> because the QT control does show up <5> no color, no history <7> Ka-bar: not being an windows program. putty comes for linux too. <3> zommes: run md5sum on the file you downloaded and compare it to the md5sum on the site <2> eric2000: I think you're pretty clueless, putty doesn't keep an history. <6> ok <3> color? I have color in my putty right this second <5> Lion : clueless ? im looking for a soft that can print all i did since session open <4> as do I <2> eric2000: but you /can/ save sessions, and ofcourse tell the shell to which you're connected to keep a command history. That is not putty's doing. <3> eric2000: thats called logging, not history <5> when i echo a long list, putty cant up screen more than 2 scree, i would like like irc history <2> rofl <1> a soft what? software? <6> how do i run that in this kde? <2> eric2000: get a better irc client then. <0> eric2000: man screen <3> history is hitting up in bash and getting the thing you just ran. <7> hilarious <5> i can't copy and paste more than 1 screen on putty <3> zommes: you'll need a terminal window, then go to the directory the file is in, then md5sum file <5> and there s no auto update <0> eric2000: ? <2> eric2000: I think its time for you to display your cluelessness somewhere else. Try #linuxhelp. <0> eric2000: go back to windows where you belong <1> zommes: kde is your desktop environment. What is the actual program with which you are trying to open this tar files? <5> well looks like putty it the one and only ssh soft ? <3> eric2000: get a mouse with a mousewheel <5> lol <6> Ark <1> eric2000: it's "software", not "soft". and, NO, putty is NOT the only ssh software. <4> blah, no, IE still doesn't like that <4> what a pain <6> i have installed Kubuntu, and it has Ark included so thats the program that gives the error <2> zommes: ark supports tarballs. <3> you're working too hard. We just did document.write('<object blah blah blah>') :p <3> DOM be damned ;) <1> zommes: ok, so you have Ark. And you're sure that it is a .tar file and not a .zip file? The reason I ask is that you seem to be trying to extract a ".dll" file from the archive. Linux software distributed in a ".tar" file almost never includes ".dll" files since ".dll" is a Microsoft thing... <2> zommes: but the best approach is to open up a console and simply use the 'tar' command. <4> Fred: summat like that, yeah <3> Ka-bar: that specific file is almost certainly mplayer's DLL package <6> Ka-bar: that can be true, but its the same with a linux version of mozilla <1> orly? <1> mplayer uses .dll libraries? o_O <3> Ka-bar: yeah, for all the codecs that dont have linux versions <3> only works on x86 of course <4> yeah it's some wine hackish or summat like that <6> but i will try it from terminal now with the mozilla tar file
<3> btw, why are you doing this from tarballs? If you're using kubuntu, why not the mozilla package? <4> there we go... finally getting somewhere. <1> anyone seen OldMonk? <1> I was hoping he might be able to explain this: <1> http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/06/02/060602155817.4608d3f6.html <6> RelDrgn: what do you mean by mozilla package <4> RelDrgn: if you're curious, I put the fix up at http://pastebin.com/761029 <4> RelDrgn: MSDN notes that if a tag has a 'name' element, it must be in the createElement() call. <3> hah <3> zommes: the distributions already package all this stuff for you, ready to go <3> zommes: should be on the kubuntu cd or their apt repository at least, read their docs (probably on their website) and look for their instructions on finding and installing packages <6> ok tnx <6> but is this a compatibilty problem or something <6> kinda strange i cant download and unpack tar files <3> no, most likely your isp ****s and is cutting off large downloads ;) <6> :) <3> thats why I was asking you to check the md5 sum against whats on mozilla's website, that would tell you if its downloading wrong <3> or it may be some bug in Ark, but having more than one bug that sets off the package would be highly unlikely <3> err more than one tar file that sets off the bug <6> how do i check md5sum of the file on the website <4> you don't <6> oh <4> you take the md5sum they have, and compare against the one you generate <6> where is the md5sum they have? <4> should be on the same page you got the file from <4> if it isn't... well, that's dumb <6> i just press a link called "linux" on the mozilla website <3> where is this page? <3> whoa, 6:30 <6> http://www.mozilla.org/download.html <8> I think Ark linux, like Suse, uses some sort of strange rpm files that are not compatible with redhat/madriva rpms -- they won't decompress <6> 6:30 am.. ? <3> pm <3> ah hell, mozilla uses gpg signatures rather than md5 <4> sonofabitch, it is a direct link... OK so why are we even discussing md5s? <3> Sean: because I didn't realize that mozilla didn't provide one <1> CaptJ: no, that's not what we're talking about <6> so i cant use the link? <3> zommes: well, forget about the md5 thing, and just go with reading the kubuntu directions and installing the kubuntu firefox package <6> ok <6> and what about that codec package.. ? <3> CaptJ: in this particular case, ark is kde's tar/zip/rar/whatever frontend app <6> how do i open that one <3> zommes: they *might* have mplayer packages <6> RelDrgn: You mean Kubuntu? <1> zommes: I would suggest reading the documentation for the codec package <6> but the site says: For installation instructions look at the README contained in each package <6> and the package is the problem <3> zommes: then you're looking at the wrong documentation. It should explain how to have apt install stuff for you <6> ok <6> i'll go check that out <6> thanks for the help! <3> zommes: ok, md5sums for the mplayer stuff is here ftp://ftp1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/ <6> ah, thanks! <3> so you can run md5sum on the essential package, and compare the number it gives you to what the MD5SUMS file there has in it <3> if its the same, then its probably something wrong with ark <6> ok <6> i will return if i learned more :) <6> tnx <1> what is a "tnx?" <3> and yeah, spell words right, we have more patience with people who can spell :P <3> or who at least make an effort, something "thx" isn't. <6> well i said thanks three times, so i thought for variation, but ok.. no problem <4> later Fred <1> zommes: we have a few rather simple rules here. They can be found in the channel FAQ which you can see in the channel topic. <1> http://faq.linuxops.net/ <6> ok <6> spelling is no problem <6> allthough im not english <6> no big problem <6> i guess <1> That's OK. A lot of the people here do not speak English as their native language. This is, however, an English language channel and we ask that people at least make a good-faith effort.
