<0> lol
<1> sheesh...NASA will have it's hands full fixing this latest publicity disaster
<0> is that a problem? :D
<1> cap...bwhahahaha...
<2> dogbert2: oh well.
<1> Emerson, the sad thing is that every astronaut who waits for a chance to fly on a mission gets damaged by crap like this...
<2> dogbert2: why? so she should have failed the psych exam
<1> Emerson...beats me...how someone could make it to the rank of Captain in the US Navy, flown attack fighters, and become an astronaut could screw it all up inside of one day
<3> Stress.
<2> dogbert2: she won't be going to prision, I bet a white hospital room is in her future
<1> Emerson...possible, even if she's cleared of all the civilian charges, the Navy will convene an admirals mast to bust her out of the service for conduct unbecoming an officer
<2> nod
<1> mwilson, that's a rather lame excuse, given that a lot of women deal with stress on a daily basis
<2> mwilson: like I said, rubber room
<2> any laywer worth his salt can get her off for being nuts
<1> Emerson, probably be the best thing for her...she'll never fly again (civilian, military, or NASA)

<2> dogbert2: oh yeah
<1> not to mention, she had her mission last year to ISS, and given the fact that the shuttle is due to be retired in 2010, there are a lot of people who may never get a chance to fly
<1> Nowak is still employed as an astronaut, said NASA spokesman Allard Beutel. Beutel said a "high-ranking" military officer flew from Houston to Orlando on Monday to discuss the situation with NASA officials.
<1> "Our concern for her right now is just her health and well-being," said Eileen Hawley, a spokeswoman for NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "This is clearly going to be a very personal, tragic and unfortunate event."
<4> anyone here familar with IIS6?
<5> no thank god :)
<4> heh
<4> cant figure out how to host multiple domains on my Windows 2003 server ... Companyweb is hosted by default (thats the exchange server, and other things for the network), but cant figure out how to get steakk.com on there as well
<4> wh00t, nm...got it
<5> writing functional specifications or making them up just isn't my thing
<6> hi guys..noob question here probably: i've just installed a flavor of debian, i've got a connection, gateway's correct, etc. I can ping external hostnames (google.com, etc) just fine, but when I try to ping an internal hostname it responds with "unknown host". It also is not 'transmitting' its hostname to the router.
<6> in the router all other pc's on the network show hostname under "attached devices"..for this one is just shows "---"
<6> any suggestions about wtf i have wrong?
<4> http://triggur.org/robodump/ <--- hahahaha
<7> Can you ping internal hosts by ip address?
<6> yes
<4> sounds lke you want to set up an internal DNS server
<7> fyyrest0rm: Then check your dns settings on the debian box (/etc/resolv.conf)
<2> Coma: how goes it?
<4> a linux workstation dont broadcast its hostname by default (well, never has for me)...but, if I set up a samba server, or anything of that sort, that box would then broadcast it
<7> Emerson: I'll get back to you on that as soon as I get some caffeine in ;)
<6> coma:
<6> search
<6> domain stormination.com
<6> nameserver 192.168.1.1
<6> thats whats in my resolv.conf
<7> And .1.1 is your router? And pay attention to what Steakk said.
<6> steakk: samba is another thing i'm working on as well
<6> coma: yes.. .1.1 is my router
<6> i can ping external sites by hostname..thats what doesn't make sense to me
<4> fyyrest0rm, do you have a dedicated 'server' on your internal network?
<6> steakk: i have a gentoo box
<4> fyyrest0rm, because, the external sites have something to resolve the host (a dns server), while you dont have one internally
<4> fyyrest0rm, is that going to be your server?
<7> fyyrest0rm: Sounds like your router does indeed work as a dns server, but just isn't aware of your internal hosts.
<6> steakk: the gentoo is my server..this debian box is planned for a testbed server
<7> Maybe you better set up an internal dns server.
<6> coma: internal as in ON the debian box? no other machine on the network has this problem, including the gentoo box
<4> fyyrest0rm, turn off DHCP on your router, then give each machine a static IP, and in /etc/hosts, just put in the machines manually
<4> on a small network, its a piece of cake
<7> fyyrest0rm: So check the dns settings on the gentoo box and possibly copy that.
<6> coma: i take that back..looks like the gentoo box isn't resolving internal hostnames either
<4> or do what I did...set up a DHCP server, and DNS server on the main server(your gentoo box), and have it all done in there...DHCP ***ignment by mac address
<4> when the DHCP server asigns an addy, have it tell the DNS server of hte new records.
<7> fyyrest0rm: See if you can use your router as an internal dns server, adding all your hosts. If not, make the debian or gentoo box a dns server.
<6> steakk: all these machines are static, but I can't disable dhcp because people bring their pc's over all the time and refuse to redo their nic's lol
<4> fyyrest0rm, and you plan on supporting DNS entries for these other machines that are not connected regularly?
<6> steakk: lol i just hate having to remember all these damn ip addys
<6> how would i go about setting up a dns server then?
<4> RTFM
<6> a general push in the right direction would be fine..dont mind reading lol
<4> I dotn use linux as my server, so no idea
<6> wha? blasphemy :)
<6> hehe whatever works i guess
<4> http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0504/WaterOnMars2_gcc_big.jpg <-- HAH, I knew it, there IS water on mars!
<7> Is there beer too?

<4> XyZzY, hah
<4> http://nickscipio.com/funstuff/picture.html <-- NSFW NSFW NSFW NSFW
<4> (IE: Turn yourdisplay down before viewing it at work :P)
<6> k guys..i'll go read up on dns servers then..thanks for the help
<4> 1,220ft on kitty cannon!
<4> go me :)
<8> electric gigolo!
<4> Marge: Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday.
<4> Homer: Woo-hoo. Four-day weekend.

<4> Laws of Cartoons: The time required for an object to fall twenty stories is greater than or equal to the time it takes for whoever knocked it off the ledge to spiral down twenty flights to attempt to capture it unbroken.
<10> hey. im trying to install cacti on redhat, and he cant find the path of some stuff like RRDTool Binary Path, snmpwalk Binary Path etc... he searches and fail to find in this dir - /usr/local/bin/snmpwalk /usr/local/bin/rrdtool ...anyone has idea for diffrent path it could be in?
<2> Steakk: Because Cartoons don't live by the laws of Newton
<2> MrShmelo12: read the documentation
<2> Steakk: what are you still doing up?
<4> Emerson, stumbleupon causes insomnia
<2> speaking of still being up, I should call to see if I have to report for Jury duty in 5 hours or not
<4> haha, they got ya
<2> great.. my group has to report
<2> i was in "standby status" and they stated that I have to report.. blah... oh well...
<2> juror number 56... *snore*
<11> Emerson: do you really want to see the look on the security guards face as he's ramming his night stick up your *** to get you up? :)
<2> libolt: Im a juror not a defendant, it's ***ult :)
<12> thats why they dont carry nightsticks anymore.
<12> they have cattleprods now.
<9> to protect the jurors?
<9> ah
<2> i'm actually charging my ipod right now
<2> not only will i get sleep, but i'll listen to my music and maybe even take a book to read... who knows how long this could take
<12> i doubt they allow you to do either.
<2> I doubt they can stop me
<13> hello Emerson
<2> no where does it say on the apperance form anything about such things
<2> it only says no weapons
<2> hey Viking667
<2> I wonder if I went to jury duty stoned if I could get into trouble?
<7> If you can prove it was for medical purposes you should be fine.
<14> Emerson: There is a cop or two around, and posession does include what you carry in the bloodstream ;)
<14> Coma: There are like a dozen people left in the US on legal medical marijuana I thought..
<2> wlfshmn: thc in your bloodstream is not a crime in any state
<14> Coma: bummer too.. seems like a great end-of-life treatment to me, and likely cheap in bulk too
<14> Emerson: It is here
<7> wlfshmn: Weed grown for "medical" purposes tends to be overpriced.
<2> wlfshmn: um, it's not possible to prove. THC naturally occurs in the body, just being alive constitues breaking the law
<14> Emerson: especially if driving or similar, then we have a separate law for driving on drugs (other than alcohol, which also has a law ofcoursE)
<2> ie law is not valid
<14> Coma: certainly, because the volumes are tiny
<14> Coma: if it was a common treatment, hell, you could outsource your production to mexico ;)
<7> wlfshmn: And the paperwork overhead, the amount of people involved, etc
<2> and the only way to PROVE how much is in your body they have to do a blood test, they must PROVE that you have smoked it in order to get the court order for the bloodtest (ie witness or actually physical posession)
<14> Emerson: Eh, no court order needed for a blood test here
<2> wlfshmn: are you in the US?
<14> Emerson: no
<7> Haha, that'd be fun.
<2> wlfshmn: well, that's the problem now isn't it then
<7> Drag in a witness that was just as doped out as yoruself.
<2> wlfshmn: i guess your country doesn't constitute your privacy as a right
<7> Emerson: And the .us does? :P
<2> Coma: technically yes
<14> Emerson: if I appear drunk or high, I go under a LOB law, which allows poliece to detain drunk/high people until the sober up, or to send them home, or order a friend of theirs to take them home
<7> Bwahaha
<2> just because there is someone in the white house who doesn't know that and has broken laws to get around that fact
<14> Emerson: a blood test is fair game ofr regular medical checkup
<7> Emerson: There's terrists everywhere, so wiretaps galore
<2> wlfshmn: medical =! justice system
<2> Coma: yeah.. right.. *bull*****
<14> Emerson: tell that to the police nurse ;)
<2> wlfshmn: well, I guess if you have aids everyone in your country knows
<9> later
