<0> its not really even the border actually.. its an annoying embossing effect that i cant get rid of and ive checked everything i can think of in the control center
<1> OldMonk: I think you can (not sure) but thats something the window manager (or desktop environment) usually handles.
<1> eY304: control centre? If you wish to make Konsole transparent you don't use the control centre.
<2> ah, but if you're using kde then kde handles both konsole and its decorations
<0> i know that... but i thought there might be an effect in the kde environment that i enabled which was giving konsole the embossed effect.
<2> is konsole's outline embossed, or the interior?
<0> ...but from what i can tell there is nothing.
<0> it looks like the exterior.. the outline of the border.
<2> does that happen for all windows?
<3> ah!
<0> it doesnt appear to, but i cant really tell because konsole is the only app i use with window transparency.
<2> but if it's outside then it won't matter whether the window itself is transparent or not, no?
<4> Transparancy is only nice for screenshots anyway, it's way too distracting for any real work
<2> i agree
<1> PolarWolf: Its nice for IRC though ;)

<4> grey on black is my favourite
<4> Lion-O: Bleh, no it's not
<2> i use black on light yellow
<1> PolarWolf: When I have a beer I like my NGE background and then use a dark transparency for my console.
<0> actually i was using it to write about backdrops for a creative writing cl*** im taking.. it made describing what i was looking at easier if i could actuallyy see it while i typed..
<1> PolarWolf: but in any other situation I agree with you.
<4> eY304: That wou;d be a good reason, yeah
<5> PolarWolf: actually... in the vista build it looks pretty nice, without being counterproductive
<5> Falchion: oldskool
<6> Jostein: yep :)
<4> Jostein: Also depends on the background, I guess
<5> at least the last build I tried
<2> eY304: let's see a screenshot
<0> i thought so too, polar... honestly its not THAT big of a deal.. i only see a VERY small percent of the border so its not that distracting.. i was just curious if anyone had ever heard of a fix for it.
<2> oh, it's the border!
<4> eY304: No, I haven't, but it's probably the window manager doing that, not konsole
<2> you can set the border off, or set it to 0 in the control centre
<0> yeah i turn the border off... but the effect is still there.. if it is in fact an effect.
<2> eY304: is it only on one side of the frame?
<0> actually, theres only one side that its no affecting... which is why i thought it was an embossing effect.
<0> lemme see if i can get a screenshot from gimp.
<2> eY304: is your frame light coloured on a dark background?
<0> no.. its light on light.
<2> ok, then it's a problem with your monitor or cable
<0> im actually on a laptop.
<2> erk!
<2> throw it away!
<0> haha exactly... its an annoying problem moreso because i cant figure it out than anything.
<6> Hmm. I have 17.97 days of vacation stored (plus one for working today that has to be added). Hmmm.
<7> say, wheres the channel faq?
<4> Got any shadowing effects enabled perchance?
<6> azaaa: Have you bothered to look in the topic, dummy?
<4> azaaa: /topic
<7> topic is empty here

<6> That works.
<5> heh
<3> damn telesales people
<9> crap, out of color ink :(
<6> Man, I wish Word for OSX was like Word for Windows. Meh.
<12> openoffice isn't an option?
<6> D-side: No point in using it. The newest Word for Windows has a nice reading mode, which I used to use for when working on the book I'm writing. The new Outlook has it too for previewing messages. The OSX version doesn't and as far as i recall, open office doesn't either.
<12> oh, i didnt realize it was a new feature. got it.
<6> yeah. Not a big deal, just annoying. Sorta like how Office on the mac has Entourage instead of Outlook, though its pretty much the same thing
<6> Though why I can't have entourage show my ical calendars is beyond me...
<6> Hmm. Maybe I can...
<6> Bah, only the opposite way. That's ****ing stupid.
<5> what I hate most about Outlook is the way a messsage aint tagged read when you click it
<5> you have to wait -1- second, then click another message
<12> bahaha
<6> Jostein: Isn't there an option to set that?
<12> debian throws out jorg schilling
<13> stick with pine
<5> so unless you actively select another message after you are done reading it, you will constantly have 1 unread mail
<5> pretty ****ing annoying
<6> I could have sworn when I would move through the list, whatever I just read was automatically tagged.
<5> this is 2k3
<6> Ah.
<5> dunno what version you are using
<6> I havben
<6> 't used it in like 8 months so I dunno.
<6> I use gmail for my mail anyways but I need a mail client for when i work at home. Blah.
<5> heh
<5> I use Thunderbird
<5> works nice with gmail. even gmail hosted mail
<6> So does pretty much any mail client :P
<12> Jostein: wha? through pop3?
<6> All it is is pop3. heh
<5> D-side: yeah
<12> too bad theres no imap.
<5> well, you still get to keep things in the webmail
<5> so... I see no problem with the pop3 thingie
<6> Jostein: I hate using a mail client, to be honest. I use the webmail for everything at this point really.
<14> Jostein: true... but it would've been nice to see imap on gmail... ;)
<5> hehehe
<6> Man, its weird being the only guy working in the office today. Feels like it used to when I worked the night shift.
<5> heh
<9> today is labor day here
<6> Tamahome: Well yeah, I volunteered to work today, which is why it's just me. I get an extra vacation day to use whenever though in exchange
<5> ahh
