<7> darcklau: I heard there's a really awesome technical support dude in charge of Linux that can help. It's called 'Google'. Use it, love it, live it.
<8> darcklau: you're in the wrong place. We don't help people steal stuff here. Piss off.
<6> ok have a nice day :P
<8> goddamned romulan thieves
<9> Geez friggen christ, this climate ****s
<10> PolarWolf: same here
<8> PolarWolf: eh?

<8> ah
<8> Well, blame Al Gore. Global warming is being caused by all the hot air rushing out of his mouth.
<9> Hmm
<10> lol
<11> Ka-bar: Gore's has more than hot air... he's full of ****!
<11> what's with the damn Romulans today?

<14> HI
<14> may i ask a question? i need some help
<14> well...
<14> i want to dump a process, how can i do that?, like procdump does in windows, i need the binary dump in linux
<5> 'dump' ?
<14> i looked at /proc/[pid]/* but i dont know..
<5> you could start by explaining what the heck you're looking for. Don't ***ume everyone knows about certain window features.
<14> well, mybe i express myself bad..
<14> well i need the code of one process, the code in asm? that is in memory?
<15> antartida: I think what you're looking for is strace
<5> antartida: why not take a closer look at the actual file ?
<14> Lion-O cause if the code changes durnig the execution on memory, the code will not be the same
<5> rofl
<14> rofl?
<5> oh brother.
<5> antartida: try again when you have an actual clue of what you're doing, it helps.
<14> oh man, my languaje is spanish, i cant talk very well in english, please put in my shoes
<5> #linuxlatino
<14> linuxlatino its the dead bro
<5> antartida: watch me not care.
<5> In here we speak English and if you're not capable of doing so you should find yourself some other channel.
<16> Lion-O: Oh. ALl right then. :P
<5> also pretty amazing how Windows' xp search comes up empty handed on 'procdump'.
<16> But I had a shower this morning!
<5> Tron: oh, its you!
<14> hey, i can speak english, but im not very good
<14> why you are so close?
<5> luckily I am very VERY far away :P
<5> this weather managed to get me an headache, total tireness, and I'm annoyed that I forgot to bring my slippers home like I usually do.
<15> Lion-O: too hot? :)
<5> Tron: so how's the new office coming along?
<16> Lion-O: It's getting there. :)
<5> Xeon: hmm, 32 - 34 degrees celcius isn't my favorite :)
<5> Tron: an office for 2 or are you guys planning on expanding?
<14> hey man, im just looking for help, and you giveme this? thanks, you are great!
<5> antartida: how do you expect help if you can't even make yourself understood?
<16> Lion-O: Just for two.
<15> Lion-O: I know what you mean... think about 1-2 hours in traffic on a ~32 degrees celsius in a non a/c car ;)
<5> Tron: *nod*
<16> Anyways - I'm off home early for a change.

<16> Laters
<5> Xeon: *AUCH*
<5> Tron: have fun!
<17> ok, I installed ubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake.. Then I installed my ATi drivers from apt-get, everything worked #1, DRI activated, 3d accel, etc.. then, I installed the Xgl sevrer(i'm on it right now) it works #1.. but when I type fglrxinfo or fgl_glxgears, I get this error Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":1.0". Can someone help me please?
<18> you're probably running XGL under Mesa
<18> what do you get with plain ol glxconfig ?
<18> er
<18> glxinfo
<8> ThomasM!
<19> oi Ka-bar
<8> long time, no see
<19> Other than sleeping, I spend nearly all my time either writing code or avoiding writing code (and usually computers). IRC has fallen by the wayside a bit.
<19> It's only when I'm willing to sit at a computer and avoid coding at the same time that the thought even occurs to me. :)
<8> heh
<19> Ka-bar: So what've you been up to?
<8> ThomasM: spending too much time at work in NY and not enough time at home with wife in NH
<8> but at least I am working. . .
<19> Hrm. There's a contest, and "each developer who submits an approved gadget will received a limited edition Google Desktop Developer T-shirt". Do I want a T-shirt badly enough to code and not get paid for it?
<19> I've some friends that go right into angry-evil-Google mode if they saw me in that. Might be worth it, to see veins twitching and spittle flying.
<8> lol
<19> Ka-bar: You're still kernel hacking?
<17> Orochi: sry im back r u there still?
<8> somewhat. working on an "appliance" that runs FreeBSD.
<8> psykofreak: English
<8> psykofreak: no lamer speak on this channel
<17> ok Ka-bar: sry im soing the best i can
<8> psykofreak: http://www.abbeyrd.org/sounds/english.wav
<19> psykofreak: "sorry"
<17> Ka-bar: will u ban a non-english trying to speaks english to get help?
<19> psykofreak: "you"
<8> psykofreak: 'u' is not a word. It's 'you'
<8> and it's not 'sry', it's 'sorry'
<17> yes ok then
<17> do i need to write .okay?
<17> or ok is good?
<19> psykofreak: "ok" is actually the proper usage. "okay" is an Americanism.
<17> ok
<8> psykofreak: There are lots of people here who speak English as a second language. We insist that people at least try, as much as possible, to use correct English to make things easier for everyone.
<19> psykofreak: People thought it was mispelled or a nasty shortcut, and made the word longer.
<19> Ka-bar: Your appliance any fun, or just stamping out license plates?
<8> ThomasM: layer-7 load-balancing switch
<8> only slightly different level of excitement from stamping license plates.
<8> :)
<8> actually, I do enjoy it. It's fun.
<19> Hell, I've been known to enjoy integrating e-commerce platforms.
<8> We've got a trimmed down, hacked up FreeBSD booting from flash and it does most of its work in the kernel.
<8> we've got a new box coming out soon that has a dual-core Xeon, a Cavium encryption accelerator and a 20-port Gig-E switch that can do layer-7 switching of HTTPS traffic at wire speed.
<19> Very nice. So it basically seems like the switch isn't there? Very efficient.
<20> hi *
<8> ThomasM: Yeah, I'm pretty impressed with the Cavium chip so far. Gonna be a nice replacement for the defunct NetOctave crypto chip
<21> pardon my ignorance, but presentation layer switching?
<21> so it has HTML rendering logic?
<8> siglite: no. It decrypts HTTPS, load-balances it among the servers sitting behind it, and re-encrypts the responses going back out to the client. It's a load-balancer. But to load-balance HTTPS, you need to be able to look inside the encrypted packets.
<8> It does nothing with content, just the HTTP and HTTPS protocols
<8> though it can do cookie-stuffing for session stickiness
<22> but can it satisfy the cookie monster?
<4> heh...nothing will satisfy the cookie monster :)
<8> our cows produce more than enough milk to drown the cookie monster
<23> By chance anyone used a 64bit Xeon in linux as 64 bit?
<21> I haven't yet. But coming soon.
<23> I cna work out the kernel bit the the CHOST options for compiling gcc and the rest of the box is confusin me :(
<23> it wont take x86_64 anyway :(
<23> Hehehe I shal let you know my progress then
<23> Still playing wiht it under Gentoo
<23> Hrm Piracetam is making me drousy and I already had oen redbull :( Don't want to drink more incase the Taurine stops my brain firing as fast and undoes all my hard work ;)
<20> DreadStar: well, you could always use a binary-based distribution that will probably work out of the box... (and yes, in 64-bit mode)
<23> RedShat?
<23> Or anre there a few more?
<21> the list is pretty long.
<23> It's dor a client so money is not a problem really I just make them pay for it ;)
