<0> Frankk: ... that is another thign
<1> I have three [ksoftirqd] processes, the first uses 10%, the second and third uses 9% each ... what could it be?
<1> I am running a pptpd server, a proxy server, a http server, a samba server, a dhcp server and mysql server, on a dual Xeon HT, 2.4GHz/proc 2GB ram
<0> Frankk: touch ab && touch abc && mv -f ab
<0> uhm
<0> Frankk: touch ab && touch abc && mv -f ab*
<2> what exactly happened?
<0> actually you don't need the -f either, as long as you don't have -i
<2> with my command?
<0> Frankk: touch ab && touch abc && mv ab*
<0> moves ab => abc
<0> heya Tron
<3> Ughnnn...
<0> Ugh is a fun game
<3> K_F: I have flu
<0> ouch

<3> *slow nod*
<3> 2006 seems to be my year for medical ailments. Yippee.
<4> Frankk: ah, yes. the old 'i forget to put the target when moving multiple files' problem
<0> Frankk: next time, use mv -i
<2> K_F: I will remember
<0> or just use tab-complete
<2> btw, mv ab* now complains that it wants a target directory (GRRR, WHY NOT BEFORE??) and I heve two empty files named ab and abc (obviously)
<2> dragonk: what exactly happens with this problem? is it documented somewhere?
<4> well, when you mv ab* and you have ab and abc as files, * expands to 'ab abc', so mv sees: mv ab abc
<4> so mv then helpfully moves ab to abc - and replaces file abc with file ab
<4> your second problem is that mv has twigged you want to move lots of files, so it is expecting you to give it a target directory, which is what you wanted the first time.
<4> the moral of the story is: rtfm
<4> dont just blindly type and expect the computer to do what you want it to do. it will do exactly what you tell it to, which may or may not be the same thing.
<5> Lion-O: Not much to see.
<5> Frankk: man touch
<2> well, I admitted I forgot to type TARGET...
<6> Pizbit: lol
<5> Lion-O: How's life?:)
<2> Pizbit: I will, but I think i know what target does
<4> well there's your answer. good. now read what I wrote and think about it a little.
<5> Frankk: Get hit, usually.
<6> Pizbit: not much to see :-) Busy, getting ready for $customers while grabbing a quick bite
<5> Food is good, just had pizza and will have ice cream soon.

<14> ?
<13> ABdula, please go to http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html and pay careful attention to the suggestions there. It'll improve your chances of getting a useful answer.
<14> what ?
<14> i need install yahoo messenger on my ALT linux
<14> :(
<15> ah... Well... have fun
<14> ?
<15> !
<14> ?
<13> ABdula: Go right ahead. I hear yahoo has a binary-only package for Y!M, or you can use one of the myriad integrated messenger clients for linux that speak every protocol under the sun.
<14> but on instant mesaging are not yahoo aim
<13> ABdula: Use more words and try to make more sense.
<15> And ask a question. If you have one.
<14> sorry but i`m from Georgia and don`t know many english
<16> Shadur I see you're in a good mood today... :)
<11> ABdula, have you tried gaim?
<16> :)
<14> i don`t know how setup or something :(
<11> it's a multi-protocol client (msn, yahoo, icq, aol, irc, etc)
<14> i installed on my pc
<14> ALT linux COmpact 2.3
<14> :(
<13> ABdula: set up what? What did you install and what are you trying to make it do?
<11> well abdula... good luck
<11> (too fuzzy 4 me)
<13> mart1: '4' is not a word. It's spelled f-o-r. Or f-o-u-r if you mean the number, although in that case '4' would be acceptable.
<14> i`m in my home now. and i install on my pc ALT linux Compact 2.3 and i need install now Yahoo Messenger to connect messenger understand ? sorry for bad englesh
<11> Shadur, ok; but come on...
<13> ABdula: You need to install a messenger client that speaks yahoo. GAIM is a very nice one. You'll have to check with your distribution's package manager.
<14> Shadur: Sorry but can you teach me how?>
<13> No.
<13> I don't know your distro, I don't speak your language, and I'm not in here to hold your hand through reading your distro's documentation in the first place.
<14> :((((((
<0> ABdula: stop whining
<13> And whining about it is only going to irritate me. **** it up and start reading like you should have done.
<7> and I should clean my room up.. study for next exam etc. I wonder why I'm still on irc. =/
<0> yoz: monday was it?
