<9> Pizbit: Plot away ... there's plenty of deadwood that could do with a little culling up here ...
<10> Current plan is to build a wall around it and dump all our trash there.

<8> ryan7777: **** you too, part and change that retarded ident
<12> umm no
<12> anyway
<8> Shadur: im working on the CoV part, she likes the damn guild wars vids
<9> Hmm ... I think I may be a tad late for that ... the username no longer works.
<8> if i just had a damn trial like in other games i bought it wouldve been ok

<9> Maybe my brain will be a tad better for it ...
<13> found out something odd about a Dell gx520. Finally got a testing GUI based /today build to install to a SATA drive and use /dev/sda1 as it was supposed to. however; upon rebooting will fail to boot into the partiion UNLESS you do it manually via the F12 boot menu. seems it does not wait _quite_ enough to be able to boot from /dev/sda1 via standard reboot
<8> XyZzY: that is kinda weird badly
<9> That's strange :(
<9> Throw a SCSI card into it with the POST ... maybe that'll delay it a bit :)
<11> XyZzY: this menu loaded from disk, or from CD?
<13> tavi-san: yeah, I even updated the BIOS in the hope that Dell fixed it. The BIOS is supposed to be able to boot from SATA but I'm not sure if the 2nd drive I stuck in there is a factor for it doing this
<13> wlfshmn: disk
<8> XyZzY: well it booted something... ;)
<13> waznz: thought about that. have a modem card
<11> Sunblade: I have yet to spot any atleast on myself
<13> tavi-san: if I pause like 30 sec at the F12 boot menu, works like a charm
<13> It would not happen to be something in the MBR boot code that could be causing this could it?
<8> oh that is really werid
<9> XyZzY: you're modem card slows down the boot process?
<8> have you tried reading up some docs and edit their bios?
<8> i did that last year on a gigabyte board
<13> waznz: I have to try that to see if it 'fixes' the problem
<8> i wanted to hide a few menus :)
<13> tavi-san: never have edited a BIOS, never needed to
<9> I've got two SCSI cards in my IBM server ... waiting, waiting for booting ...
<8> $fiancee's curious brother stayed at our place for a few weeks
<8> and didnt want him to like do somethign in there, but also i didnt want to look mean and put a p***word :)
<8> XyZzY: it's not very hard
<13> this new BIOS has the ability to set p***words for hardsrives I've found
<8> i cant remember what i used for that though :)
<8> you should be able to put a delay of 30 seconds there easily
<13> It's like it does not give the SATA drives quite enough time to become ready to boot
<8> that is just weird
<11> tavi-san: well, you can get it all regarding guildwars. It's more like a conventional game where you pay once for the game and you are done, having a free trial on top of that doesn't even have the potential of making the distributor any more money
<8> wlfshmn: i wasnt talking about a free trial for GW, but for CoV
<8> she >liked< guild wars
<8> and i want to buy CoV and join Shadur's adventures :)
<13> tavi-san: I'd rather have a Dell apporved BIOS since this is a $werk machine. so I'll pester Dell about it. look into editing BIOS as well
<11> tavi-san: ah, ok
<14> The upside of GW is that it has no monthly fee.
<8> XyZzY: you wont do any harm to it, you will find the image easy to edit with a BIOS editor
<8> Shadur: yeah, that too but from my poor salary i still can pay the damn fee anyways
<8> all that matters in the end is something nice to do @ home
<8> XyZzY: i had a copy of the working BIOS (official) at hand in case i screwed up
<8> XyZzY: but i didnt, after he left i just put it back (official one)
<11> tavi-san: aside from that blonde of yours? ;)
<13> also get a wierd message when it boots about ata1 is slow please be patient
<8> XyZzY: and yes, at first i was pretty scared of "editing" BIOS :)
<8> wlfshmn: hehe, yeah :)
<8> wlfshmn: like i said, it's good to make her like it too...
<8> she has like 1 GB of screenshots from wow
<11> tavi-san: no doubt
<11> oh, right... screenshots
<11> I tooka couple of lame ones yesturday, but now ofcourse, I'm not on a computer where I can reach them ;)
<8> bah
<8> wlfshmn: i told you to give us some ;)
<8> wlfshmn: it can be really fun to play a game with $life partner
<11> tavi-san: I'm gonna have to sink more money into this system if I'm to run everything at it's best and brightest, I've noticed
<8> also it's nice to place bets on different things in game :)
<9> Sunblade: I have to do that as well :(
<8> wlfshmn: oh, demands a lot right?
<11> tavi-san: turned everything up and on for a bit, and it's fine as long as there aren't any actull people around ,)
<4> ha ha, booting the kernel failing on the labels though
<11> tavi-san: and silly me figured my Xp 3000+, 1GB ram and 6800GS would be enough for an MMO ;)
<8> wlfshmn: you need more ram actually
<8> had the issue with WoW
<4> ****ing lcd screen of my laptop is b0rk
<11> tavi-san: That might be it, and I've been considering that anyway..
<8> in the main cities which were loaded with people, i was waiting for like 5 mins to be able to walk....
<15> Hey, I just noticed something a little wierd - anyone else use the proprietary ATI drivers and run amd64? I was having trouble with a 32-bit app complaining that I didn't have direct rendering enabled and for the longest time I just thought the app was wrong. Finally it occurred to me to run a 32-bit version of glxinfo - sure enough, 32-bit apps on my systems don't see direct rendering as enabled. Is this a limitation on the ati drivers,
<15> or have I done something wrong?
<8> wlfshmn: tested it with 2 gb of ram, was as smooth as a camel's hump
<8> FroggyFeet: it's just the ati devs dont bother to actually release good 3d linux drivers like nvidia does
<11> well then, I'll go get another gig at lunch and we'll see how it runs tonight ;)
<8> wlfshmn: bastard, you can afford it just like that :)
