<10> ummmm, well, watch the traffic on the networks, eliminate the false positives, use binary capture for most effective use of CPU, trim down ruleset to only those items you allow through your network, etc
<8> dogbert2: alright thanks for the tips, I just printed out the snort manual and am looking for other material as well, I've got each location logging reports back to a mysql server at our corporate location

<10> well, a pent 3 1Ghz machine (celeron works here also) with 1GB of ram, 2 10/100 NIC's (intels), and a SCSI disk drive is usually enuf
<8> seems to perform alright on systems I've got all the way down to a k6-2 550 with 128MB and an ide disk, but I do put intel nics in all the new boxes I build and a software raid1 array
