<2> Sunblade: no ups? horrible
<1> acl dload url_regex -i /.exe$ /.mp3$ /.vqf$ /.gz$ /.rpm$ /.zip$ /.rar$ /.avi$ /.mpeg$ /.mpe$ /.mpg$ /.qt$ /.ram$ /.rm$ /.iso$ /.raw$ /.wav$ /.mov$ /.iso$
<2> Sarthor: Please goto http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html, and re-read your question again. Then try asking something which *does* make more sense.
<1> delay of 5000/6000
<2> must be cluebie hour again
<1> Lion-O: Wats Wrong with my Question ? Wud you please point out me that Error or Fault?
<2> Sarthor: any idea how many different applications utilize ACL's ? How do you expect us to know about the application with the junk you pasted?
<3> Lion-O....nagh nevamind
<4> ah yes, finally a normal system I can test on
<1> Lion-O: Sorry tough for me to get you. I am not much familier with English. any how Sorry if i posted Wrong.
<5> wlfshmn: hrm, any screenies?
<5> id really like to see some ingame nonprocessed screenshots
<5> i really want to get me a new mmo

<6> tavi: City of Villains!
<2> Sarthor: then maybe going to an English channel isn't the best option.
<5> Shadur: hrm, im checking it now
<5> Shadur: why dont we all gather in a mmo?
<5> it would be great imo
<0> tavi-san: ah, ok, I'll try to remember to take some otnight ;)
<6> tavi: http://tenchi.systemec.nl/~shadur/COH/ and ~shadur/COV/
<0> tavi-san: what, take over Eve, build a gigantic power-base and start invading one of the hard-coded federations? ;)
<5> wlfshmn: exactly
<5> Shadur: checking the URLs
<0> tavi-san: I say we erradicate Concord ;)
<1> Lion-O: OOK. Frnd. Just say me Clear To Get out from this Room. No Help for me here. Wil never mind it. God Bless you. Bye.
<0> tavi-san: I wonder if you can actually blow up a stargate
<5> wlfshmn: you can shoot it right now if you want, just lock on it and shoot :)
<5> Shadur: what's the main idea? as in main plot?
<6> tavi: City of Heroes and City of Villains share the same game universe and a couple of zones. In the one, you play a superhero, in the other, a supervillain.
<0> http://www.choppingblock.org/comics/cb20060301.jpg
<5> Shadur: and you have quests and mobs to kill, gain skills/levels/spells?
<6> levels and powers, yes.
<5> and also you need to follow a quest line, predefined?
<6> Nope.
<5> nice
<5> how about the PVP?
<0> tavi-san: Yeah, see, I expect there will be one or two concord ships on my arse if I try that, not to mention half a dozen of those sentry turrets
<6> You can street hunt all the way to level 50 if that's what you want; or you can talk to contacts and get missions and story arcs.
<0> tavi-san: and well, a Bantam frigate vs. Sentry turret isn't a very fair fight ;)
<5> wlfshmn: hehehe :)
<5> Shadur: seems ok, but what about the pvp item wise?
<6> There's two flavors of PVP. There's the arena, where you can arrange PVP matches with and against anyone, and there are the (currently three with one more on the way) free fire zones.
<5> as in, if you get the better gear, you are automagically a uber PVPer?
<6> tavi-san: No gear. No loot.
<5> damn, chick is hawt
<6> Which one?
<5> Shadur: ;)
<5> an-haran ;)
<5> Shadur: that does seem interesting
<6> Heh. She's also underage. Well, the body she wears currently is.
<5> i quit wow just cause of that issue, LOOT was too much in touch with the power of your character
<5> and that's what i like about eve, even if you have a poor ship compared to another player, if you have better skills than him and SP, you can beat him
<5> Shadur: hrm.. details ;)
<6> Tavi: Way it works, you get new powers on every even level, with two extra slots to add to those powers on every odd one.
<6> Up to six slots to a power; you can purchase enhancements to fit into those slots.
<6> Basically said enhancements, well, "enhance" one aspect of that power or another. Do more damage, be more accurate, cost less energy, recharge faster, heal more, recover more endurance, increase defense better, etc, etc.
<5> nice seems evened
<5> wow is all about the items
<5> if you are all up in tier 2 epics and your skills ****ed you, you still win
<6> enhancements are sometimes dropped by the enemies you defeat, but can - with a VERY FEW rare exceptions - be bought in the stores.
<5> what about the payment? and what do i need to purchase?
<5> as in, how can i get the best out of it?
<6> A serial code for the game. There's an automatic free month of play included.
<5> in eve for example, you get to make a free 14 days trial account, AFTER that you get the 30 days from the cd-key purchase
<5> and after that you get the box home with another 14 days
<5> so with like 29 usd you play two months
<5> and buy the game
<6> CoH and CoV are standalone games, though - buying one does not get you the other. They *do*, however, share a subscription -- if you have both on one account, you pay the same $15 per month that you would for a single game.
<6> You get a free month with each of them, though. So if you buy CoH *and* CoV, you get two months of free play included.
<5> hrm, so to play both i need both bought or just one and subscription for both?
<6> There are currently 12 servers in the US; if you have a single game you get 8 slots per server; with both, 12.
<6> To play both, you need to buy both - it's just that the subscription remains the same whether you have one or both.

<7> tavi-san: "buying one does not get you the other" :-p
<5> mod-: hehehe
<8> hmm... what's coh and cov? mmorpgs?
<5> Shadur: and you bought both, which one do you like best?
<0> Shadur: They share a world?
<6> Xeon_: Yeah. City of Heroes and City of Villains.
<5> they indeed look very nice
<6> wolfie: They share a whole universe, yes.
<5> Shadur: nice screenies btw
<8> oh...
<0> Shadur: so a CoV character can run into a CoH character, even if the CoH character's player doesn't have CoV installed?
<8> I'm currently playing L2 :)
<6> tavi: I bought CoH roughly a year and a half ago. Because of that, I was in the beta for CoV - and I bought it when it came out.
<6> wolfie: Yep. The PVP zones are open for both sides to hotly contest.
<0> hupp
<0> DDO has no PvP, and likely never will
<6> In fact, said contest is the central theme of the second zone - Siren's Call is situated where a nuclear explosion breached a section of the war walls protecting Paragon City, and ARACHNOS (evil villain organization) and Longbow (hero organization formed by one of the major signature heroes) duke it out in the streets for control over the zone.
<6> Large scale NPC battles where the PCs are free to join in, or just hunt each other for bounty.
<6> Or do indoor missions to bomb bases, steal enemy technology, kidnap officers and the like to improve your side's chances.
<5> wlfshmn: MMO = PVP
<5> cause you can always get a single player game ;)
<6> tavi-san: I disagree.
<5> Shadur: didnt meat it literally
<6> CoH didn't get any PVP until the arena opened sometime last year.
<5> but a mmo w/o ANY pvp wont be a big hit ever
<0> tavi-san: And nothing is stopping you getting that single palyer game if you want to
<0> tavi-san: but you try soloing any significant quest in DDO, and youll end up as a wet spot on the floor
<6> tavi: I find that PwP (player-with-player) is just as fun.
<5> wlfshmn: for example what blizz did right was the choice of realm
<5> PVP, non pvp, rp-pvp
<5> for all the flavours, and that's how they got 5 million subscribers
<9> all i hate is p2p
<5> Revenger: heh
<9> if i buy a game, i dont want extra fees to play it.
<6> Tavi: Actually, they did that badly wrong. And the reason they have 5 million subscribers is because they knew how to cater to the blizzard kiddies.
<10> is there a UML software that works both on linux and windows and is good?
<0> Revenger: there is also PnP as an acronym now, since DDO keeps refering to the pen-and-paper rules ;)
<5> Shadur: of course it is, that's why i said about that, in wow they do have everything, and if you get tired of PVP, you can always go to a raiding guild and get into the hardest battles against NPC mobs
<6> Rev: Not even if said game comes with major expansions to its content every few months?
<5> some of them take months to be figured out and take 40 persons to sincronize perfectly for 20 mins
<0> Shadur: It's a good thinhg WoW exists though. It's like daycare for MMO.
<5> Shadur: they have that many subscribers cause it's fairly easy
<9> Shadur: i'd say keep a basic realm free. and offer expanding ones to a fee.
<5> and you can always lvl a char to 60 (which is max cap)
<6> tavi: With the exception of the Hamidon there isn't anything in CoH/CoV that needs more than a decently skilled 4-man team to take down.
<5> Shadur: that can be good or bad at one time
<6> tavi-san: Yes, that's one thing they did wrong. They focused everyone on the goal at the cost of the journey.
<5> in AO there were mobs to be taken out by 100 persons
<5> and that was a good goal to get to
<5> EQ was the same
<6> Come to think of it, some giant monsters take some work, too. I should correct that.
<0> indeed, we see the occational WoW player pop into DDO, find out the level cap is -10-, and log right out because it can't possibly be worth it then
<6> Yeah, the giant squid also dishes out more than a single 8-man team can handle.
<5> i really do believe that a MMO >should< offer a PVP part, a good soloing part, a "5 men max" mobs part
<5> but also some huge objectives, which need to cooperation of more than 5 people
<6> wolfie: Every few weeks someone comes whining in the suggestion forum that the level cap in CoH should be moved up from 50. Some of the time people still are patient enough to explain why this won't happen.
<5> blizzard thought about the game very well, but they did some stuff wrong to **** up with the content of the game
<0> tavi-san: I've yet to see a quest that couldn't be handled by a four-man team in DDO, ***uming a carfully constructed team, and people who can cooperate, not just run ahead
<5> anyways, what i said was strictly IMO
<0> Shadur: this cap will be raised, most likely to 20 over time, but not until additional content is added
<5> as ive played wow for 1 year, and did that PVP part and the endless raiding nights
<0> Shadur: levels above 20 in D&D are tricky though, that owuld be a significant change to add epic levels
<5> and i must say, being on teamspeak with another 39 people, and saying "healers heal warlocks now"
<5> and all the whine and the laughs
<0> hell, characters over level 20 start boarderlining demi-gods
<8> tavi-san ~40 people on ts it's chaos :)
<5> was good, and it was like this cause it made more than 5 persons to work together, to get along together and make them have the same goal
<6> wolfie: Same here. There's an awful lot of screaming that, for example, the respec trial is way too hard to complete, but with my usual team we literally wipe it. Why? Because we've played together a lot, because we know our characters well, and those two factors combine to a team that tears through incredibly large groups of enemies like a berzerk shredder through wet tissue.
<5> Xeon_: nah, if someone keeps them controlled
<5> when we PVPed it WAS chaos
<8> tavi-san what's the party limit?
<5> there was this dude who kept singing me that retarded .ro song "dragostea din tei"
<5> and he is .se
