<5> nifty
<0> yeah, it's a painfully humbling affliction. at least i can walk around now and able to rest on my side. can't sit at all though.
<8> hi.
<0> howdy
<8> so is it possible to p*** data from form fields that have been filled but not submitted, to a window opened via, uh
<8> window.open() ?
<8> Kinda new to JS just yet, sorry
<1> p*** that with querystring
<0> if you have a reference to the window, yes. e.g. var foo = window.open(...); foo.document.formName.fieldname.value = document.formname.fieldname.value; or whayt ht311 just said.
<8> I have no data to be used as a querystring, as the form has not been submitted.
<8> if i understand how it works
<8> er, understand correctly, rather
<8> heheh, thanks for the help
<8> i'll check that out.
<1> querystring is anything after the ? , you can put anything there yourself , and the new window need to check the location.href after. what furtive said is another way, more direct.
<8> I understand, but like I said, I have *no* data to use as the querystring, because the form has not been submitted. Coming from PHP, the only way to use POST or GET variables is to actually submit the form or click on a link of data that has already been processed. I'm hoping JS does things differently in that respect.
<8> I'm still learning a bit, sorry - maybe I am not under the right impression here.
<1> posting is just one of the way to get the data in the form
<1> http://www.jibbering.com/faq/faq_notes/form_access.html
<8> what are my other options? I don't think I understand.
<8> thanks.
<8> Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. So in my window that's been opened via window.open(), I need to p*** one variable to the parent page. When I fill in my data, submit it, it gets verified, the user clicks on another button which uses opener.location to point the parent page to a different page. Is there any way to "save" the variables entered in the first instance of the parent, and use those variables to fill in the form on
<8> the second instance of the parent - after it has been refreshed via opener.location?
<9> add them to the querystring?
<8> again, I think that's where i'm confused - can I add them to the query string on the fly, without the form having been submitted?
<1> use opener.document ..... to access the parent window's document
<8> oh..
<9> sure
<9> all you need is a ref to the window
<8> ok.
<9> ***uming they're in the same domain
<8> yes.
<8> literal domain, or "domain", i.e. same page, etc etc?
<8> I'm not too keen on JS's rules.
<1> not js issues
<6> Browser rules.
<9> reminds me, I need to finish writing my bho
<9> less than fun
<8> ok, thans.
<8> thanks, rather.
<10> is there an easy way to "link" two radio button groups? (ie. the two groups are identical, and if a button is selected in one, it should be selected in the other too)
