<12> _kmh_: well, depends i guess. there are low maintenance linux distros and you can do your part to minimize effort, too, by keeping things simple.

<12> i can for example switch the server over to my desktop box, as all it requires is running a java based db engine and a java based app server, those i simply copy from the production system and start up again. then i can go and set up the server from scratch, which is quick to do with respective distros.
