<0> but its does cover the basics in a didactic manner
<1> What about Liang's book on Java?
<0> never read it
<2> which java control I could use to edit HTML ?
<0> JEditorPane
<2> I need buttons

<0> use a HTMLKit
<0> buttons?
<2> something more advanced
<2> yeah, a control
<0> like?
<2> with buttons, submenus
<2> ever seen HTML editor ?
<2> I need something like TinyMCE
<2> I embedded Ekit: http://www.hexidec.com/ekit.php but it's buggy
<0> you can write something like that with it
<0> I have to write myself a nice html editor
<2> I'd prefer not to ..
<0> then why not use ekit?
<2> it is buggy
<2> and dead
<0> ok
<0> have you seen the notepad demo?
<0> that comes with the jdk
<0> maybe you can make something with that
<2> I can make
<2> I'd prefer to use something ready & tunable
<2> there are lots of editors available

<0> i'm sure there are some commercial editors
<3> you could even abuse the netbeans platform for it :) makes one huge editor though, but its possible 8)
<2> there are lots
<0> if you find something nice, let me know
<2> I hope to get advice from someone who challenged close task.
<3> still, were it up to me I'd prefer to write my own. Then you can more easily expand from that
<0> since I have to add a nice editor to our main app
<0> yeah
<0> I'm planning on writing my own stuff
<0> I've checked the jeditor tutorials out today
<3> Still, when it comes to plain out coding html I do most of my work with quanta these days. Simple, not too intrusive. Basicly its an editor which pops up the html elements, makes it easy without being too intrusive.
<4> netbeans has even a tutorial how to make a pure html editor from it
<0> my goal is it to write simple letters
<0> with bold, italic, different fonts and images
<3> Rob_uknow: ah, interesting
<0> and links that offer standard sentences/lines
<0> so if you click on a link, you get a list of possible lines
<4> like DreamWeaver design part ?
<0> you select one and it will replace the link with that
<0> the lines are linked to a db
<0> fair_semaphor
<0> i keep reading chernotchick
<5> anyone seen Thunder_DK lately ?
<0> no
<5> hmm
