<0> back
<1> can anybody tell me what indexOf do?
<0> depends which cl*** it's defimned on
<0> just look it up ibn the api docs, do you have them
<2> hi all
<1> ok, thanks
<0> np
<0> I guess it's a homework question
<3> hey
<3> where can i download j2se 1.5?
<3> the sun site is quite confusing
<4> what
<4> whait
<4> wait
<4> :)
<3> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

<3> where's the link there that says download j2se 1.5?
<3> all i see is netbeans and 1.4 and documentation
<3> thanks
<4> take it with netbeans
<5> NOOO
<5> don't ever use crappy netbeans
<5> there is a link further down the page
<3> so what do i download?
<5> just have patience and READ the page
<4> what u use
<4> ?
<3> just sources and documentation
<5> Eclipse is a million times better than Netbeans
<3> no win32 installer
<5> sure is.. the link just below.. update 6
<5> if you read the link (the one with netbeans) it also says Update 6 with NetBeans 5.0 Bundle.. <--- Update 6
<5> Link JUST below that says the same.. WITHOUT Netbeans
<5> whats confusing about that?
<4> https://sdlc6a.sun.com/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=1D1023D12504B55D01CAB2F8D900CE71
<4> take it
<4> and download
<4> :)
<3> Thunder^, thanks
<5> nesho: What part of "Netbeans is crappy" don't you understand?
<4> okkkk
<4> i use JBuilder
<5> nesho: Saving 60 mb of download and instead download Eclipse which is FAR better
<5> JBuilder is even worse
<5> JCreator, Eclipse and IDEA are the ONLY IDE's that should be allowed to be used for Java programming
<5> of course IDEA is the ultimate of the ultimate
<3> hey thanks guys, Thunder^, nesho..
<4> np
<3> i just need this for installing jedit
<3> :)
<4> :)
<6> Hey, I was just wondering if I have a double how can I go though the double value one element at a time?
<6> if I cast it into a Double I still can not get an array or iterator or anything
<6> Well how about this question then. What can store more values a String or Double ? If I get my Double to a String would I loss any data?
<7> crappycrappycrap
<6> sounds like me bro
<6> why do you say that
<7> my recursive method is crappy. i've been trying to solve it for like 5 hrs
<7> and I _will_ get it right before I die
<6> ya, what is it trying to do?
<7> one moment
<7> anybody know a bit of recursive methods, and maybe is able to tell me what i'm doing wrong here.. ? http://rainbow.homelinux.org/websvn/filedetails.php?repname=tod063&path=%2Foppgaver%2Fchapter10%2Fex10_5%2Fex10_5.java&sc=1 for sum(1,7) this method returns 34. It should return 28 I'm not sure whether it's a math issue or a logical issue.
<7> what are you trying to do with those String and Double's ?
<6> I am just trying to find a way to tranverse a double, like if a double had, 12.043 then I would like to find a way to get each element of the double like element0=1,element1=2,element2=. and so on.. However, if I change the double over to a string you could loss info since a double can hold more then a string
<6> so you are just doing the factoral of n ?
<7> no, the sum of 1...n but with the recursive definition: The sum of 1 to N is the sum of 1 to (N/2) plus the sum of (N/2 +1), normally I would just return sum(n-1) in the recursive method but this is a specific exercise and I need to use the given definition
<6> I don't think that result = n + sum(n - 1); will give you the factoral I thought that the equation was (n(n+1))/2
<7> the equation is (n(n+1))/2 yes, but how to do it recursively is the issue :P I used the 'easy' way om the sum(n) method (which is working), the problem lies within sum2(n,m)
<7> Are you sure a Double can hold more data then a String ? I thought a String was limited to the amount of addressable memory in the JVM
<7> You can also use a CharSequence (I think) ;)
<8> hello all
<8> anybody home ?
<9> moin thunder. still sick?
<5> Hey Clackwell :-) No I'm all good now.. wife is sick lol
<9> ah, yeah, that's how it works in a family i hear. ;)
<5> yep
<10> you're wife is sick and you're outside with other girls

<5> talios :-D
<11> 'lo Thunder^
<11> Quiet night. Time for bed soon too.
<5> omg.. what the hell is Ferrari doing
<12> Ferrari is ~cyta@Ferrarix.users.undernet.org * om
<12> x
<12> F
<12> Ferrari has been idle 2hrs 21mins 34secs, signed on Sat Mar 11 18:56:48
<12> not much it seems :D
<5> DOH
<12> hehe
<12> TV2 direct
<12> I turned it on
<5> earlier there was a 46sec pitstop to Ferrari !
<12> ok
<12> 76 l fuel added in 8 sec
<12> wow
<5> hehe yeah.. they are insane with all the pitstop stuff these last years
<13> morning
<12> morning jottinger
<13> how's it going?
<12> jottinger : Thunder^ is watching F1 directly from Bahrain
<12> so now I am watching too.
<13> F1, bah
<13> I'm merkin, f1 is just a sport for fancy wine-sippin' uppity europeans
<5> except I don't drink wine.. so duh!
<13> then you fake it
<13> if you're in bahrain, you have to get tipsy on grape juice
<5> who said I was in Bahrain?
<14> pfft, there's more alcohol in Bahrain than in Dublin.
<12> haha
<12> So, what do they watch in the US , Daytona 500 ?
<13> teralaser: I dunno, I don't watch auto racing except for the indy 500
<12> It must **** to hear exclusively about car brands you can't even buy or at least is foreign
<13> teralaser: like what?
<5> whats all the fuss about Indy 500 ?
<12> jottinger : Renault
<13> teralaser: we can get renault...
<12> can you buy Renault in the US ?
<13> yes
<12> oh...
<13> and I own two hondas
<5> Honda rulez :-D
<12> sure, I know Honda and Toyota are popular
<5> not in F1 of course
<13> yeah, I gotta figure out if honda will go to flexfuel though
<12> I never saw Peugeot, Citron, Fiat, Renault in the U.S. though.
<12> And Alfa-Romeo
<5> Fiat are in US.. just as Ferrari :-D
<13> teralaser: they're not popular, and finding a citroen would be, um, interesting
<12> heh, ok , yes, Ferrari and Lamborgini
<13> that's probably the one brand you've mentioned I don't know if I've seen
<13> ferrari and lamborghinis are here, as are peugeot, fiat, renault
<14> Nothing wortf seeing.
<14> worth too
<12> jottinger : Which state ?
<13> teralaser: I'm in Indiana, but I've lived in FL and NC too
<14> NC?
<12> north carolina
<14> ah
<12> Well, I was in Florida for 5 years, and I never saw those vehicles.
<13> teralaser: well, that doesn't mean they weren't there
<13> where in FL?
<12> I know, it varies a bit from state to state, Minnesota are supposed to have many Volvos
<12> and say Colorado has many Subarus
<12> Ft.Lauderdale
<13> I lived in Orlando, Tallah***e, Miami
<15> hello
<12> ok
<15> If I want to get Java and JRE for Windows XP Sp2, how do I do that?
<12> www.java.com is the easiest, MidEast
<12> Just open the site with MS Explorer ,not firefox or something.
