<0> "This method must return a result of type String" >> I have set up an attempt to sort a string of numbers using charAt. The return variable; statement refers to a variable that has been declared as a string, and I have an incoming string set up in the method declaration?
<0> is it because I'm an idiot and placed the return statement on the wrong side of the for loop's bracket? Yes, it is. No applause necessary folks, I'll probably be here all week ;o)
<0> Thanks!
<1> hi all
<1> q: why am I getting "package org.springframework.context.support does not exist" eventhough i added the spring.jar library to the project cl***path? (it has the given package in it)
<2> that depends on the contents of the spring.jar file and the way you added it.
<1> has it got something to do with my ant build.xml file? Cause in the code its happy, when I compile the build.xml file it complains..

<5> Hello all...can anyone suggest the best way in which to automatically know when a user is online in a messageboard/forum type site...of course, I know I need a flag in the database that would be triggered when a user logs in...however, how to trigger it back when the user goes offline...i'm picturing a thread for each user that triggers the flag after the user's cookie expires but surely that is not the best way?
<5> any ideas?
<1> q: this tomcat is not allowing me to log in to the management page, asking me for a username and p***word and I enter tomcat and tomcat and then it gives me a access denied, i think it has to do with tomcat-users.xml file, anyone know?

<20> Does java have a portable solution to serial port communication? I see that javax.comm is no longer support on Windows?
<2> somePriest: there is an external API which you can get for several OS's.
<21> hi
<21> i'm quite new to Swing... I have a JLabel with a set ImageIcon, and would like to implement some sortof selection tool (similar to the polygon tool in drawing packages) so I can select part of the image. Any ideas how I can do this please?
<2> somePriest: hmm. javax.comm seems still supported from what i can see.
<2> somePriest: I see what you mean, the documentation only speaks about lack of Linux support while in fact...
<2> somePriest: http://mindprod.com/jgloss/serialport.html
<20> Lion-O : javax.comm is no longer distributed for Windows. Sun only supports Linux with javax.comm. They dropped Windows support late in '05.
<20> I guess this SolutionsComputing might be my only alternative.
<20> I've seen a few packages, but the ones I saw were not portable. Crazy.
