<0> its a preview version "bunlded" (sorta) with the Java 5 EE sdk snapshot.
<1> well not overly interested. web apps are stupid.
<2> guys i ll see ya around
<2> bye everyone
<3> Hi, can anyone help out? I keep getting errors when i Implement ActionListener.. it says that my cl*** aint abstract and does not override method ActionPerformed.. any idea?
<4> seems fairly straightforward

<5> when you implement it you must override its methods
<6> dobe: http://cime.net/~ricky/netsim/pi/actions.html - see SimpleActionListener
<5> this isn't really java related but the problem it when running a java console application windows 'cmd' shell does not write native characters (norwegian). even if I'm using utf-values in the code
<5> anybody know a clever way to solve it ?
<3> rickety; how do i get the info entered in a textarea.. i know its textareaname.getText(); but doesnt seem for to work for my p***word field :/
<6> How does it fail?
<3> cannot find symbol
<6> Which p***word field?
<6> Which cl***?
<5> getP***word()
<3> kk
<5> and you use a JP***wordField
<6> rvsjoen: Yay for spoonfeeding.
<3> doesnt work getP***word
<3> weird
<6> dobe: What cl***?
<5> I love spoons
<3> the listener
<6> dobe: What cl*** is your p***word field?
<3> my main..
<3> :/
<3> where the gui is written
<6> E.g., my buttons are JButtons.
<6> "What kind of car do you drive?" "Er, the one in my garage"
<3> lol
<0> rickety: you're driving my car?!
<0> </bad phun>
<3> How do I p*** a variable from the gui file to the listener ?

<6> dobe: lol means you're stupid.
<3> Hmm..
<3> righht
<6> dobe: See the tutorial I pointed you to earlier.
<6> Particularly LessSimpleActionListener
<7> hey I'm trying to make a MIDlet for my phone? I made one from a exampel using WTK and then I uploaded it to my page and then I try to download and it asks if I want to insall the app I say yes but then it suddenly says "can't be found" why? is it not the .jad file I'm supose to download?
<0> yes it is, but there is probably also an URL present in the jad file.
<0> Alfei: a word of advice though; its best to *always* test a midlet using the j2me tools.
<7> well have you heard of the HelloMIDlet.java file from the tutorial on WTK? that's the one I'm trying to use but I can't find any URL in there...? sorry if I seam stupid I'm new to java and trying to learn by my self
<7> well I did... I ran it through the phone emulator
<7> if that's what you mean?
<0> Alfei: I said in the .jad file.
<0> The .jad file probably has something in the likes of 'Jar-URL' or 'Cl***-URL' or close enough, you'll probably have to check that value.
<7> well it says "MIDlet-Jar-URL:" but thers no URL after it?
<0> Alfei: then that is your problem.
<7> what should it say?
<0> Alfei: depends. You can try using the filename of your program.
<7> do you mean like MIDlet-Jar-URL:NAME.jad ?
<0> ofcourse not.
<7> well soryy I'm new to this you know...
<0> Alfei: since when is the .jad file your program?
<0> Alfei: this has nothing to do with being new but with thinking things over.
<7> what do you mean by my program then?
<0> you have a .jad file and you have your program file. as stated in the docs the .jad is used to present your phone with the info it needs to install the program file. 'File not found' after it asked you to install it clearly proves it found the .jad but not the program. Hence... Add a link to your program file.
<0> anyway, if this isn't clear enough I think nothing will be. /me wanders off.
<7> ok I understand but could you give me a exampel of what that link would look like then I will not trubble you any more?
<8> I deploy my application under tomcat and when tomcat runs I get this error: WebappCl***Loader: validateJarFile(C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\webapps\rets\WEB-INF\lib\servlet.jar) - jar not loaded. See Servlet Spec 2.3, section 9.7.2. Offending cl***: javax/servlet/Servlet.cl***
<9> IRRasr: Don't deploy that JAR
<9> it's already distributed with Tomcat
<9> Servlets 2.3 that is
<10> Bryin should I remove it from the WAR? I did that and it didn't work.
<9> IRR: What was your error then?
