<0> using MetalLookAndFeel. <0> please take notice of that big "See Also:" URL. <1> =D <1> Lion-O, while using ArrayList i want to create objects of type Pers <1> if i put that cl*** in a separate file <1> how do i make the main file access it? <0> raki: if you have one week to learn the basics and still don't know this I'd doubt if one week is enough. <2> yea i know that... <2> but i dont understand how to use it <2> i have a main method.. <1> Lion-O i started yesterday.. <0> raki: don't mess with ArrayLists, start learning the basics. Like instantiating, static / non-static, etc, etc. <1> but i guess i was dumb to use the ArrayList since i couldve used 2dimensional array which i prolly wouldve gotten right first time.. <3> off topic but I can see saturn :)
<1> ya, i guess thats clever Lion-O.. <0> calchas: cool! <1> im restarting right now <1> with 2dimensional array instead.. <1> thanks anyway <0> calchas: Offtopic perhaps, but a lot more interesting IMO :) with the naked eye or do you use some viewer? <3> first night with new 8" scope, in the old (and crap) 4" reflector it was just a blob that may not be circular, now it's super cool <1> i can see saturn aswell.. just dont know where to look :< <3> it's out and close to the moon right now (19:50 local time) <1> cant see the moon <1> i think we have clouds <3> below the moon slightly to the left <1> ;P <3> sympathy <3> anyway I'm back to the cold (it's almost spot on 0C outside) :) <0> calchas: sounds cool indeed.. I once saw saturn with the naked eye when I was a kid, many years ago. Most people still don't believe that story but when I tried finding the global date with redshift it turned out to be possible since there was a period during those years where saturn was extremely well visible :) <0> calchas: have fun! <3> ta <0> Hmm, almost too tempting. Perhaps I should fire up redshift this evening. I love that program, very detailed on what you can and cannot see. <1> with 2dimen arrays <1> u just use <1> name[][] yes? <1> and then its stanard gridsystem? <0> something like that, yes. <1> name[12][3] row 12 3rd column? <0> doh, and as I suspected; an invalid certificate. <0> Hoi Asriel <4> heya <0> well, this proves it: its not fair :) <1> Lion-O, the width of a matrix is known by using .width? <0> raki: "matrix" ? check the api docs for whatever object you're using to see what field or method you can use. <1> matrix as in 2 dimensional array.. <1> but nvm ill just try and see <0> trial by error isn't the best way to learn the basics IMO. One of the key elements in using Java is understanding the meaning and usage of the api docs. In fact, I think its plain out impossible to program in Java without those. <1> =) <0> It shouldn't be that hard to look up java.util.Arrays and simply make sure. <1> it was array.length, and array[i].lenght for row/column <1> i looked it up <1> thanks anyway :) <0> Arrays are odd anyway, especially 2 dimensional ones. Better not approach that from the perspective of another language because its far from the same. <1> ok <1> thanks for the heads up <0> For example "String[][] names = {{"Mr. ", "Mrs. ", "Ms. "}, {"Smith", "Jones"}};" is perfectly legal in Java. <1> StringTokenizer : cannot find symbol with point on the S <1> what does that mean? .e <0> raki: WAY too little context to even guess. <1> =) <1> what do i need to import to use StringTokenizer? <1> if any.. <0> checked the API docs yet? <1> yes.. <0> then you should know.
<1> http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/StringTokenizer.html <1> u mean that yes? <5> hi <0> raki: that is the API documentation of the StringTokenizer cl***, yes. <1> *.util =) <1> err <1> util.* <1> found it in my book instead.. <1> sry for bothering u again <0> thats possible but rather sloppy. <5> i like the topic today :)) <0> besides; you don't *have* to import anything. You don't need import merely to use some cl***. <1> :o <1> how can i go about it otherwise then lion-o <1> care to share? =) <0> raki: use the binary name of the cl***. <0> all import does is simplify things. Nothing more, nothing less. <1> thought u recommended me to do the basics? ;P <0> raki: knowing about import and what it actually does is a mere java basic. <1> =) <1> another basic thing i need to learn lol <1> how do i force break a program in windows? <0> raki: whats with the smileys? Think I'm joking or something? <0> this is also why I said before that I don't believe a week is enough for all this. Not by a long shot. <1> no i dont think ur joking, i just feel somewhat happy today <1> nor do i, but i missed first 3 weeks of cl*** <1> so i dont have much choice.. <0> missed or skipped? <1> missed <1> was in barcelona <0> so skipped. Why else would you be left with 1 week? Normal courses would at least give you enough time to catch up. <1> i joined course late <1> cause i just got back to sweden <1> could screw the exam and retake it in a month though <1> which i am seriously considering <6> Hello <1> hola <6> I have a group of Radio Buttons, and I want a button to be selected as default <6> Where should I put the TRUE statement ? <6> I tried this <6> doi = new JRadioButton(true); <6> That throws an error <7> I believe it is .setSelected(boolean value) <1> sounds alright atleast =) <7> (interrogated with isSelected()) <6> Thank you <7> np <1> setSelected <1> public void setSelected(ButtonModel m, <1> boolean b)Sets the selected value for the button. <6> Thanks both of you a lot <1> glad i can be on the other side of the help thing <1> normally its me bitching at ppl for help =))) <6> LOL <1> ;P <1> just got started yesterday =) <1> first phase of my second program is done soon =) <1> if u write text in a messageDialog <1> whats new line? <1> \n ? <1> no one alive?
