<3> err.. either way.. it MIGHT work if you reboot... basic idea is if you make MAJOR changes to the config and add modules at the same time (this time the major change was adding ip-filtering to the stack,) that the bit the modules need to talk to in the kernel won't be there, 'cos it wasn't necaserry when the kernel was made....

<3> phillyshreds, oh.. first of all your not making much sense, and second if you stopped that emerge before it finished then all sorts of stuff won't be there... if you REALLY want to try and make genkernel work, re-do the kernel build/emerge part, make grub find it, then reboot and try the new modules....

<3> yeah... he says he doesn't know IF they have started shaping adsl plans locally OR if they did it to us last month.... he says there is no real way to be sure... except last week our ping times were 10 seconds+ to ANYWHERE including 1st hop IF we downloaded more than 12k/s or so, and now if i don't do some carefull limiting i get 1.5 second pings at 50-60kbps download steady
