<0> but i use the sip phone at the house
<0> its a decent phone
<0> grandstream
<0> 4 lines
<1> what does sip mean anyways?
<0> 7 speed dials
<0> uuhhh
<0> session initiated protocol i think
<1> good as explanation as any.
<1> :)
<0> you vonage phone works over sip
<0> its the protocol
<0> the other main one is iax
<0> which is the inter asterisk protocol
<1> yea I figured that. I see sip packets when I sniff via ethereal. Was wondering what they were.
<2> Adieu.

<1> I also left a honeypot open on my wireless link and caught some neighbor makeing allkinds of phone calls through it.
<1> sip packets should up then too. Only they were heading to yahoo for somereason.
<1> s/should/showed
<1> Hey what window manager do you guys use? I've been useing blackbox while waiting for kde and gnome to compile. It looks pretty good. I might stick with it. Any other cool window managers?
<3> bash
<3> i seem to like it
<1> yea I use bash via xterm. Its pretty good too. But sooner or later you want more windows open don't you?
<0> virtual terminals
<1> So you absolutly don't use X.
<1> You only have 6 anyways
<0> not i
<4> I should work on windowlab some more.
<4> Best wm I've used yet.
<1> cool 160kb.
<1> Think I'll emerge it right now
<4> Oh, it's not as good wihtout modification.
<1> what modification?
<4> I had to add a bunch of stuff to make it work like I wanted.
<4> Themes, vdesktops, and sloppy focus.
<1> via use flags?
<4> No, via code.
<1> what language?
<1> send me some source I want to take a peek
<4> http://zaei.sytes.net/windowlabss.jpg
<1> what code did you add?
<4> Sloppy focus, themes, composite stuff, and virtual desktops.
<1> doesn't hurt your eyes seeing transparent windows?
<4> I built it so that the focused window is more opaque than other windows.
<4> Works well.
<1> Does the focus change to what ever the curser is pointing at?
<4> Yeah.
<1> thaty would be real use full if I could see a window behind another and hit a hot key to toggle focusing between each one. Its so annoying when windows burry each other.
<1> then you play the window shuffling game
<1> how do you configure windowlab anyways? your just editing a config file right? Your not like programming are you?
<4> Yes, I am programming.
<5> sal all
<5> careva?
<1> again what language?
<4> C.
<5> someone's bored?
<1> did you modify the ebuild?
<5> i need a little help in a stupid problem
<5> anyone
<5> ?
<4> No, just downloaded the code.
<1> do you have any source I can look at?
<4> QuazX: Just ask, and if anyone knows the answer, they will tell you.
<1> What did you use to get the transparencies to work?
<4> crc: Not at the moment, no.
<5> i need a help for redirecting an external port to an internal machine ( webserver )...i read but i think someting is missing and ai can't manage to clear it out ( it's driving me crazy for some quite a while)
<4> xcompmgr just reads a property off each window to set the transparencies... I just set that property.
<5> i put accept rules nothing prerouting nothing
<5> it's all fuzy
<5> help me pls
<1> is this ipchains?
<5> i ran out of ideea or inspiration
<5> iptables
<1> me too.
<1> non of that stuff ever made sense to me.
<5> i'm using Slackware 10.2 on both machines
<5> maibe slackware does something by default

<5> or something
<1> you useing one of your boxes as a router?
<1> err NAT router?
<5> the web server no
<5> just the first one
<5> if ip forward is enabled on the second machine can interfere with this redirect?
<1> no idea. I need to get a book on ipchains, or tables. :|
<1> its a configuration issue thats bugged me for a while.
<1> speaking of which I heard linux was going away from ipchains and moveing to straight packet filtering.
<5> the strage part
<5> that on red hat 8.0 worked fine
<5> but o sack pause
<5> but on slack pause
<1> how about on gentoo?
<5> huh? gentoo ****s
<1> I'm wondering. What happens when you ask this question on #linux
<1> do they offer tips or do they mock you?
<1> go ahead I dare you.
<5> no ideea
<5> i told you a ran oput of ideea this is the last place when i cand ask a question
<4> QuazX: What distro are you running?
<5> nowhere else i can't go
<5> fedora core 3 and slackware 10.2
<5> gentoo has a difiicult install
<4> Not to be an *** or anything, but this isn't #fedoracore3orslackware10.2 .
<5> sorry i;m not an expert
<5> hmm but is also linux
<1> Well I don't know either. Ipchains pissed me off enough to play with it.
<4> So please, don't go insulting the people you are asking questions of with statements like "gentoo ****s".
<5> and who managed to install linux i bet he left from slack or redhat fedora
<5> sorry about that
<4> And gentoo doesn't have a very difficult install.
<1> And I've done network programming via libnet and libpcap
<1> :(
<5> but i stayed a whole night to instaled it and when he supose to boot EROR
<1> yea LFS is the one with the Bad(tm) install/
<5> sorry an other distro i didn;t get that message yet
<5> :D
<5> to understand that no one can help me?
<5> stupid redirect problem
<5> i'll go kill myself
<1> its cool.
<1> what made you go slack anyways?
<5> my old servers
<5> :D
<5> i don';t have opterons xeons
<1> I did slackware way back in 94. Has slackware stablized since then?
<5> i have something like p233 p300
<1> hell I don't have a pentium4 4 yet
<1> I got a P-III 566Mhz running my gentoo server.
<5> man on a 1 giga hard put gentoo and see what's happens
<5> :))
<1> heh a gentoo install isn't difficult, but danm do those compile times kill you.
<5> slackware is fast took me o hour to instal it and share an internet conection
<1> I'f I'm strapped I'll use danm small linux instead
<1> yea its binary though
<5> maybe in a few yaers i'll go for it
<1> same here
<5> for the time being i;m staying on slack
<5> is easyer i thing
<5> except the redirect probemes
<5> :D
<1> I'm thinking of going debian but I love binary compiled from source.
<5> anyway
<5> fedora is the best
<5> i think
<5> very often updated very complex
<5> but the resources is killing me
<5> are killing me
<5> sorry for my english don;t laugh
<1> well mandrake pissed me off with their updates, Red Hat went commerical and left their scraps and turned it into fedora, debian is pollitically correct but not updated very often, Gentoo might have what some would call a ruff install, and has slow build times do to compiling, but its speed and portage system make it all forgivable.
<5> let;s go to windows
<5> :D
<1> no more hunting down rpms and getting pissed off when they break all the time. Now you have ebuilds that install alot smarter.
