<0> I also can't do RNR with this gpu.
<1> it's a shame ATIs driver support is so poor that they actually gave up because the 3rd party GATOS drivers were better
<1> the GATOS drivers are actually pretty decent, but I don't have all the features
<0> Like RNR?
<1> RNR = ?
<0> Rotate And R-something i cant remember
<1> oh, maybe
<1> I know overlay didn't seem to work right
<0> Basically supporting vertical poptart slotting of a HDTV monitor
<1> ah, dunno
<1> but probably
<1> is that the rotate the screen thing?
<0> yeah
<1> yeah, that doesn't work for me (not that I have a reason to rotate the screen)
<1> oh, have you tried building the new Xorg yet?
<0> no

<0> I'm not very experimental.
<1> ah ok, they totally refactored everything
<1> a lot different that the last time I built it
<0> Mainly because I don't have enough time to mess around with things
<0> If i did, i would
<1> I don't really either lol (I should be doing homework)
<2> hi guys - i have a new web site that is designed to host the logs of IRC channels - may I mention the web site in this channel and ask if you're interested in hosting the logs of #c there or is that considered spam?
<0> my friend jeff is a wiz with that stuff and doesnt mind doing it because it generally takes him little time to fix tiny breaks
<0> so, if i occasionally break something i dont feel like fixing, i invite him over and give him free food as compensation for his uberfast fixes
<1> hehe
<3> toolate, I'm sure khan would object given the occasional homo***ual rants he makes that would pop up on google
<0> you can private message me the link to your website toolate, i know some people on another server who might be interested.
<4> he didn't even get the channel name right
<2> apologies for not getting channel right
<2> #c++
<2> zbo - just sent you the link via PM
<3> swish does the stat tracking here
<5> I do!
<3> You might be into toolate's thing
<5> hmm
<2> can I PM you the link Swish?
<5> nah, no thanks
<2> k
<5> I think posting logs is a liability.
<5> allows for stalkers to have easy access to people, etc
<5> not a good idea, imho :)
<3> And DA's
<2> okay
<2> DA's are?
<5> digital ***ho...er...
<5> ;)
<3> Angie Harmon
<2> is Angie Harmon a DA?
<3> aDA
<0> I think logs are mainly good as an administrative-babysitting tool for a channel that has ops, a lot of teenage chatters, but not enough to have them around at all times.
<3> er
<3> ADA
<5> zbo, sure
<5> as long as the logs are kept private and not instantly available to every fool on the internet who thinks they have a right to quickly learn about someone
<0> right
<5> I almost consider blogs a violation of privacy
<2> :)
<0> Blogs?
<5> weblogs
<0> In what way?
<5> they're portals into someone's life that any stranger can read.
<5> usually if people want to know you they have to befriend you and spend time with you
<5> you know, invest some of their own time
<5> like years
<5> blogs make it easy for social retards to stalk others and carry out all kinds of unhealthy fixations :)
<0> I actually got a chance to speak with a woman who wrote one of the first anthropological studies about the Internet back in the early 80s.
<2> the stuff that I'm thinking about hosting is stuff that would benefit the channel and perhaps a cause
<5> cool
<5> what did she have to say?
<3> She predicted lots of pr0n
<0> Just that people have taken what she has said and either disproven it or built on it a great deal :D
<0> it wasnt a really deep conversation, i was going to ask her more, but there were other interesting people around at the time :P
<5> heh
<5> you've given me an idea
<5> I'd like to talk to my high school's anthropology teacher

<5> I liked her a lot.
<5> I'm curious what her take on Internet Chat/society is
<3> oo la la
<5> :)
<0> The best source for thoughts on that stuff is MMORPG people who major in Interactive Storytelling, methinks.
<5> heh
<5> those people are interested in one thing. money. and getting people addicted to the game.
<0> I disagree.
<5> I hope you're right :)
<0> Eric Cammack stopped making games, for instance.
<0> erasmatazz.com ? i think is his website
<6> Hey all. I'm trying to get a projector control app working. I'm attempting to send a text string it over the serial port. I can control the device thru LookRS 232 but only if I have it send the text from a file. (with a blank line after the string) I believe I have the app sending text to the serial port now but I need it is acting like LookRS does when I don't have the carriage return at the end. I've tried adding \n \r \r\n
<5> I'll keep a healthy dose of skepticism handy, though
<0> The fact of the matter is most programmers/designers in the game industry start off saying "I would do this job for free" and many do.
<5> heh
<7> how could one be more wrong
<5> most of those people are talentless hacks.
<5> and they never stay hired
<5> or they end up as QA.
<5> I should know, I was in the game industry :)
<7> I am in the game industry.
<5> so what do you think, then? :)
<7> it's the best job in the world, if you like writing video games
<5> did you notice that you stopped -playing- video games when you became a gamedev? :)
<7> no, we play every day during lunch
<0> heh
<5> wow. :)
<0> How could you be a programmer and not play the games?
<5> the game you're working on, or other games?
<0> That's where your inspiration comes from.
<7> other games, obviously, heh.
<5> zbo, in my gamedev company we were very focused on just playing our own game
<7> playing a half-finished game is not so much fun
<5> hehe
<0> Thats the mistake, i think, imo
<5> yeah when we were half-finished we used to play Descent :D
<0> Its better to play the competitions games
<0> and get a sense for what they are doing
<5> but as soon as it was playable..
<0> otherwise you kind of fall into something similar to the iron law of oligarchy
<7> heck, we even have video game competitions
<7> NHL right now, but starting next week, COD2
<7> gotta go wash the dishes
<5> heh :)
<5> later :)
<0> cn28h: RandR is the X "Rotate and Resize" extension

<1> could be
<1> how are you building it?

<9> its ok ?
<1> execl("./seud","seud",arg,(char*)0);

<8> help
<10> I have a getline statement which seems getting skipped, from the only cause I can find seems to be it occurs whenever a function which uses a cin >> is called. Is the cin basically just leaving behind a \n or something which is then just leaving my getline with nothing, and if so how do I fix this sort of thing
<1> vampirical, cin.ignore(numeric_limits<streamsize>::max(), '\n');
<1> and yeah, you are correct -- cin >> ... will leave the \n
<8> cn28h ?
<1> Mr|xxx`, I have no idea what you need help with
<8> i cannot compile
<8> when it comes to some where
